Thinking we are "not good enough" something all musicians deal with. Because of this thought I have been pushing myself to practice even when I shouldn't be (sometimes more than 6 hours a day all year) even when I'm not motivated to do so. Long story short I'm taking a mini (sabaticle if you would call it that) and I would urge other music students to do that too. No excuses I'm at a music conservitoire too🎹.

To me, you are a kind of wonder woman: playing an outstanding concert like you did, so brillant and full of emotions! And at the same time filming footage for your vlogs, while trying to keep your nerves calm. I have no clue how you manage to handle everything at the same time, but I want to express my deepest respect and thankfulness for letting us take part in your journey like you do! So sorry for you having to read negative comments! Don't let them enter your heart, there was nothing you could have done about it and you shouldn't have to worry about tech issues! To me, watching and hearing you play was the highlight of the week- watching it on a big screen via beamer! You seemed to enjoy yourself so much - the stage is your place to be! Congrats from Germany!

I just recently discovered your channel, and I unfortunately couldn’t make the concert due to an intense week of finals. But since discovering your channel, you have inspired me more than any other pianist I’ve ever listened to. Even simply watching your videos and seeing how confident you sound in general has GREATLY impacted my own confidence. You remind me to be confident in my myself as a musician and I’ve been noticing that I’m less critical in a negative way and more so in a positive way if that makes sense. You’ve changed the way I practice and view my music, It’s hard for me to explain but you’ve seriously been a huge help. I’ve always been extremely self conscious about my playing, always telling people I’m bad and truly thinking that myself. But you just radiate confidence and passion while you’re playing and it’s incredibly inspiring. We all go through ups and downs and are critical about our performances, so don’t feel bad, we totally understand. I think you sound just beautiful, keep doing what you’re doing, it means a lot to me and I’m sure so many other people. Love from the West Coast ❤️

The Dreamstage concert was certainly an experience for everyone and it came out really wonderful. You’re certainly not alone with anxiety because this happens generally to everyone before a concert, especially when (and due to the pandemic) our activity is becoming less frequent in terms of live performances. At that point, I would just think about the fact that you are making it happen in the midst of an unprecedented event we all are going through is something to be excited about and confidence for that matter could be contributed by that mindset, trying to look away from the fear of making mistakes, because a lot of it becomes an illusion once you sit on the piano seat and end up playing it with great success. Again, you did a stunning job with the performance at Dreamstage, I would say that if you got me goosebumps at any part of the concert while you’re in that piano, that’s all that matters.
@JM-ig4ed3 жыл бұрын
It was so fun watching the chat screen at the same time you played - woudl never be able to talk to each other like that in a live audience setting. People even did their "cough" etc in chat -- just like if we were there, lol.

That sound engineer sounded like a great guy, trying to help you with reducing your nerves. And in the end, you had fun. Just like we did. Just wish I had someone to dance with at the end 😉. I can't wait for the album, but don't use Spotify. Not a fan of subscription services, I prefer to own the media I consume. Yes, I'm one of those people that still buys CDs or goes to the iTunes Music Store. Oh, and I wouldn't be surprised if DreamStage will be offering and using the Dreamcode function in the future with other artists. And I do hope they learn from the experience of this concert on a technical level so next time we have less buffering issues. But all in all, still a great platform and nice of them to support your wishes. I do hope we get to see you again on it in the future and of course in real life as well.

Thanks so much for this Tiffany - this seriously explains a lot about why you seemed nervous at the event. This is exactly why I think you are amazing. With all that was happening and your dealing with a million things (including the injury!) how does one possibly focus and perform? Well you did it and THANK YOU for a wonderful concert! The previous generations of performing pianists might have other things to deal with but YOU are showing the new generation how to do it and that it can be done. Kudos +++ and keep up the great work!

We are our worst critics. I too get nervous before performances and the one thing that helped is to think of channeling the composer and the music. Nervousness and anxiety is about us and our own ego. Thinking about this helped me (and some beta blockers too!)

Clarification: you are right you only seemed nervous during the interviews but when you were performing there was none of that - you were great and clearly you were enjoying it! Sounds like everything played out well for you! I really enjoyed the performance, in my own living room, and no annoying people around me ;) You're such a pro musician, you can fall back on your experience when making a mistake. I didn't notice it until Blue Danube, which I really enjoyed anyway. It's such a complex piece, you've tried to play almost all the orchestral parts at the same time. The passion with which you play is felt and more important than playing it perfectly without feeling imho. You're not a robot after all. One thing that could be improved isn't about your playing but I'd loved to have a good close up camera angle of your hands and face during the performance like you did in this video at 4:00. I would've felt more connected to you as an artist and takes us with you to the place where you go during your performance. I'm looking forward to your Spotify releases, I'll make sure to put them on my regular listening playlists. Good to hear you leave the technical stuff to technicians, to each their own specialty and it shows in the quality of the end product and gives you piece of mind and allows you to focus on your art. And compliments to Eric for dragging you through all this ;) We all benefit :) You've done really really well Tiffany!
