And it can be overwhelming. I don't want to minimise the suffering of people who are in conflict zones or who have been forced out of their homes. That's awful for them. Just as it was awful for people throughout history who died violently. Bad news sells. And people not fighting isn't noticeable. But it's worth acknowledging how much progress has been made for humanity as a whole. And statistically humans on earth today are less likely to die of violence than any time in recorded history.

Never got why people liked squirtle and his evolution line, it's prob the least creative between the idea of charmander at the time with it's tail flame that keeps it alive, and bulbasaur who goes through plant growth through his evolutions. Squirtle starts out looking promising with wartortle, and then devolves into bigger squirtle with canons. big woop.

What we do have is more coverage of every awful thing going on in the world and so that makes it feel like it has gotten worse. Whereas good things don't get the same coverage. Like the rise in life expectancy, particularly in the developing world, a drastic decline in extreme poverty etc. This year has been a depressing miserable year with the Covid pandemic which has temporarily worsened things but it will pass. And overall, this is the best time yet to be alive. Also Piplup is the best water starter. It's just so adorably cute.
