Yes, it's completely mental. McTominay is a player who reached his ceiling a few years back and it isn't as CM in a title winning side. And yet we are stuck with him. We even sold Fred but can't get rid of McTom. Ten Hag knows he can't do the job he wants him to. He doesn't want to play him in case he gets injured so he's another player hanging around in August while we limp along hoping to sell players we don't want to outsized prices so we can get on with the business of building a better team

I objected to the Mount transfer two months ago and everything I said was 100 percent correct. I said he was an attacking midfielder aka a number 10 when we needed a number 8 or CM. I said the resulting Midfield combo would be weak and I said Casemero would be worn down covering for two attacking midfielders. ETH wasted our limited budget on a second Bruno when we needed a press resistant ball carrier. We needed a DeJong type player not a second Bruno. We needed at least two Midfielders. One CM and one DM and Mount is neither. CM should have been a Barella or Caqueret or Kokcu and the defensive midfielder should have been Tonali or Youssef Fofana or Kone. We didn't need another Bruno because Bruno is never injured and plays pretty much every game. No one even knows how we are going to utilise Mount because his best position is 10 which is where Bruno plays.

@@leifsemp that is simply not true. His passing and ball carrying ability is vastly overrated. The stats are the result of the club he plays for. They frequently dominate possession so he gets to carry the ball without much pressure and he gets to make basic passes without much pressure. I got this information from someone that watches a lot of serieA. He said the stats are no substitute for actually watching games. He also is no defensive beast. None of this adds up. If he was this world class midfielder there is no way he would be offered up at £21m. I am not saying he is bad but United fans are going to be surprised when he isn't close to being the world class midfielder you have built him out to be. I remember when fans built up Mason mount and I warned everyone that what they were saying doesn't tie up with what Chelsea fans were telling me.

Against bigger teams and in champions league and important matches,it would be 4231 with Bruno on the right. Its so obvious. Against smaller teams,it would change but i think,this season Mount would olay more important role,one of the most imp role in the team because of his pressing and winning ball high. With Mount,Bruno pressing,with Ambrabat aggression and casemiro’s positioning,transitioning and winning ball high would be easier. Just hope Hojlund would come good.

Wouldnt Onana fix the high line problem we had against Wolves, if he plays like when he was at Ajax and in the friendlys before he was lob against Lens. Normally he stays much high up the pitch than he has done so far in the league season. It looks very much like he or Ten Hag is afraid, that he's going to be lob again. And I know that the Eredivisie and friendlys are different than the Premier League but still. I just think that it will fix / help with the high line

The main problem with United is the players (Bruno, Rashford, Anthony, McT, Mount) that keep losing the ball from attacking positions. All the players were at top half of the pitch (attacking) so they got counter attack quickly leaving all the gap. The positions of players also questionable and They are also vulnerable in set pieces They need to be patient with short passing like city, Liverpool, Arsenal and quickly press as soon as they lose the ball

What our midfield is lacking...it's athleticism. Against Tottenham it was as clear as day. Erickson and Casemiro are to old and lack speed and agility. Experience is good, of course but you need impeccable ability to move fast and decisive.

You need 2-3 players in each positional area of the pitch. As well as the fact that you need 1 fully defensive minded midfielder (Casimero) a b2b/transitional player that can defend and attack (Amrabat) and your full on playmaker (Bruno). No matter how good you are you need support defensively in midfield. Man city had rodri AND gundo Real Madrid had Casimero and Kroos

Our issue last season was at striker ! Casemiro did solve the midfield issue however this season eriksen isn’t up to par and that opens up a hole that needs to be filled. Also, ten hag wants to implement his style of football which requires a different profile
