The heroes of the Pulp Era are far more badass than any created in the Golden Age going forward.

The Blue Flame of Vengeance is one of my favorite Kane stories, its kind of the black sheep of the bunch since it has no supernatural/weird elements

Sorry, gotta say, wheel lock pistols, not Flint lock, flintlock were a later tech. Otherwise, Great! , loving it!

There a few references to flintlocks in the stories. Presumably these are the earlier types and not the "true" flintlock of the 17th century. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flintlock The Moon of Skulls: "in an instant Kane's pistol was in its owner's hand. A second's investigation showed that it was still loaded and the flint still in place." The Hawk of Basti: "Kane's cold eyes roved among the trees; one lean iron hand hardened on the carved sharp - pointed stave he carried, the other hovered near one of the flintlock pistols he wore." The Footfalls Within: "Some carried in their wide girdles long, silver - chased pistols of more effective pattern - flintlocks of Moorish and Turkish make."

My one problem with him is the few stories where he accepts the help of a witch doctor and uses that magic to succeed.

Solomon Kane is one of my favorite characters. He is , as George Clooney put it, a mean MotherF***ing Man Of God. And if you can't find the stories for free, Amazon has all of REHs stuff for real cheap. Like .99 cents for a collection.

The movie has many problems with pacing and narrative and could have been much better. That said I am still glad it exists and enjoyed watching it.

The best Solomon Kane comics is Darkhorse Castle of the Devil and Deaths Black riders. I bring out both trades near Halloween.

Too much christian god-bothering for my tastes. Give me Crom, Nyarlathotep, Arioch, Anubis or Hecate every day of the week.

Perhaps so, but I think its cool to have a pulp hero who worships a 'real'(to some) God in a historically inspired period.
