I love this video so much. Unfortunately the loc community is getting educated by KZbinrs, and using ACV on locs, and spraying water on their hair everyday. KZbin needs to make these people put a disclaimer when doing hair videos, just like when someone is giving medical advice. They are not cosmetologists.

I had locs for 3 years, I held on for dear life, but I have a very soft hair texture and fine strands, the locs were too heavy for my hair personally and I started to see thinning in my crown very fast! I combed them out and nursed my hair back to health. They are beautiful, but not for everyone!

Thanks for this! I’ve had locs for the last 2 yrs. Same scenario. Soft texture/fine strands. So far so good. But I know I’ll have to comb out eventually bc they’ll get too heavy. Did you cut the ends off then comb out the rest. Meaning I always imagined cutting them off completely n starting over. But I know ppl have combed theirs out and now you’re saying you did the same. So I’d like to try that first. Tho I can’t imagine combing thru the ends (inches at bottom) where all the shed hair has settled for most part if that makes sense
@TheThomasMom2 ай бұрын
@@itsshaunarenee1538 Hi! Yes, I snipped about a half inch off my ends before I combed them out, I figured I would end up trimming that off anyway, so there was no reason for me to comb through it.

I’m on my 3rd set of locs. This is the first set I started and maintained on my own. She is absolutely right with less is best. I shampoo and condition once a week. I do use lite oil on my scalp when it’s damp (and the length of my locs; I do spray with distilled water only) 1-2 times during the week if that. I use ONE oil lol. Usually jojoba or pumpkin seed oil that has either rosemary essential oil or peppermint oil. I interloc my hair every 6-8 weeks. Healthiest it’s ever been. But despite all of this I truly think diet is the main thing that will keep your hair thick and healthy. Making sure you take a good multivitamin with minerals, iron if you are anemic, vitamin D and an omega 3 supplement.

I have had locks for a little over a year now. My loctician doesn't use any products on my hair. I only use shampoo, conditioner, or a deep conditioner when needed. I don't spray my hair with water at all. During the week if it's dry I'll spray on a leave in conditioner and sit under the dryer to refresh it but that's only a few days b4 my wash day and that's only if it's starting to look dry bc it's almost wash day and thats rarely, bc I wash my hair once a wk or some times biwkly and I dont let my hair air dry when i wash it im sitting under the hair dryer. But ya, I don't use anything on my hair until it's time to wash my hair for the most part.

Thank you for this and all of your other hair videos. A lot of what you share, I’ve been practicing intuitively before I discovered your channel. I had two sets of locs in my lifetime. I combed out the first set and cut the second set. My sons have locs and I stopped using gel by accident (because I ran out and had to use what I had at the time lol) and started using foam wrap to retwist and haven’t gone back since. It just made sense to me to have the least amount of product on their hair

I'm thankful for this video. When i decided to loc my hair, i wanted to be sure i was maintaining the health of my hair. I've resulted to maintaining my locs at home because most locticians that I've come across use heavy products and oil the scalp or acv detoxes (which I know to be counterproductive because I've been following you for years). I'm glad to know that I'm on the right track! Thank you for always educating us, Cyn!

Coming with the knowledge as always, Cyn! At the end of the day, this just makes sense, especially the fact that we tend to further agitate seborrheic dermatitis by adding MORE oil to the scalp. I dont have locs, but I think back to all those years ago when I had braids and my scalp had the same flakes in it. I blamed the hair that I was using but it was my fault for using blue magic, oils and braid sprays on my scalp and 99p shampoo that had no business being in my head and no conditioner! I was clueless and will accept the virtual butt kicking that you are probably sending! Learning tons from your content now though 😊😊.

Great video Cyn Doll. Thanks again for the advice. When I started my Dred Loc journey I actually started taking Saw Palmetto to prevent the conversion of Testosterone to DHT to prevent balding. My only issue now is finding a way to moisturize my Locs. My scalp stays moisturized with water, oils, etc, but the actual Loc stays hella dry and I cant figure out how to get them moisturized.
@IamCynDoll8 ай бұрын
It’s dry because you keep putting oil on your scalp your not moisturizing anything your blocking the follicle that’s why your locs are dry. The sebum that wants to come out can’t and remember water and oil don’t mix. Your the issue. Watch the video below. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKrXY2Orp8yXd5Isi=1Ywbj1Gm6ARtiV_3

I'm mixed b/w with a black mother white father. My hair came out 2a texture. No women in my family knew how to do my hair. They had me putting Luster pink in my hair because it would get dry. It also made my hair look greasey due to the texture of it. I'm in my 30s and I'm still learning so much. My hair has elements of both races. I watch this man on KZbin named the blowout professor. I'm so glad i found your channel because my hair has the same elements of being fragile, like many kinky textures. Even though it's not that texture, it's very fragile in the same way. Your videos help me learn more about how my hair acts and how to treat it. Thank you! ❤
