She's right though...Ru has made some transphobic comments in the past, but we can't brush away her impact on the art of drag. It took DR awhile to have out trans contestants, and there's other areas that have had little representation, but it shows that attitudes and perspectives can change.

Just scratching the surface: people have done trump, melania, margaret thatcher, michael jackson, sharon needles, kim jong-un, nancy grace, betsy devos, jeffree star, and aziz ansari. Playing someone on snatch game does not equate to agreeing with or standing behind everything someone has said or done in their past. That’s like saying people on SNL shouldn’t play certain people or characters?

Well Spankie is an old school queen so I am happy she did say we need to respect the people who paved the way for us to even be having this conversation right now ! RuPaul himself has made some comments that can be deemed as transphobic . Someone did Kim Jong Un , Trump , Margaret Thatcher , James Charles , Jeffree Star. All of which are EXTREMELY PROBLEMATIC.

Oh come on, don't expect everything from everyone. He was born in 1934, he was a young man in goddame 1950s! That's normal that people from different times and generations were raised different in different reality and have different views than younger (and even older) generations. I accept trans people as they are (I had a few trans friends and as a gay guy I'm attracted to trans men) but that doesn't mean that I have to hate Barry. He was amazing. One of the best comedians in our history. I love him. People aren't ideal - learn that finally.

These fans are hypocrites. Did they cancel Dragrace? No, because then there isn't anything to complain about and they might have to vote on an election that matters. Sorry MIB but if losing Miss Congeniality is your biggest problem, you need to check your ego and pay attention, it's free. When our only safe space is the internet because we're being hunted everytime we step outside, remember who they were fighting, their own. My blood is on the streets for their rights, It would be nice to see some of their skin in the game.

Barry Humphries was a legend. You don’t have to agree with everything someone says for them not to be considered a trailblazer in what they have done for both entertainment and drag. Humphries leaves a greater legacy then idiots like Hannah Gadsby ever will.
