Tekken 8 does the same thing; first 1/3 of the ranks don't matter. Far better to let them stay at lower ranks where they belong skillwise instead of just walking them into the ocean only to let them go.

They need to introduce cross-play, and then add a feature to allow DP based character categorisation in Single online. So you pick characters with DP 1-3, 4-6, 7-10 or ALL

Climbing the lower ranks with Future Gohan was actually really rewarding experience U had players who wanted to throw straight hands instead of abusing the meta. Hell, being better at the game by comboing or using ur abilities at just the right time gave you an edge over you opponent Nowadays in the higher ranks, being a god a comboing or using your abilities wisely means nothing. One instaspark unblockable ultimate attack and you're toast. Either that, or a SECOND instaspark ultimate will do the trick All in all, after my 100 games for the trophy, I dipped outa there. While I still managed to get by relatively good, it was just a painful and tedious experience

I reach Z rank a few days ago, and I gotta say... a lot of people will tell you that anything above B rank is just cheese. While this is true to an extent I have faced some absolutely nuts players, and I want to shout out one of them. His name is Avuse and he plays like an absolute BEAST. During my climb we met in the S rank multiple times and I would usually beat him, but never have I seen someone improve so fast dawg is basically Goku with how he be improving so fast. Now he is not the only one there are a lot of players like this in Z rank and S rank. There is also a lot of cheese. Unfortunately most of the top 100 of z rank is just full of players that straight up rage quit. I cannot believe you have played 1000 matches and have a 98% winrate. If you look at the leaderboards on pc you know who I am talking about. The climb was exhausting and rage inducing, and since reaching Z rank I no longer play ranked matches. If there is one thing I can say about the climb though is there are players out there who just want to THROW HANDS. They exist it is just rare.

I’m very happy you covered this … I been fighting a person for weeks trying to explain this to them. They like to cheese .. literally just told him I figured out his play style . It’s not about having fun he’s trying to take me out fast by any means . I like having fun matches . I won’t even transform unless I feel I need to . I don’t use special or ultimates really . my most used move is probably ki blast and side step. I practice dodging specials with regular dash. found out if you dodge left when they teleport to hit you more than likely you will get away because the move is thrown with they right always

I’m a Z rank and I only started quitting in the S ranks because 9 out of 10 wins you get your opponent quits! you constantly give your points away but then get none back and I literally had enough of constantly being deranked because nobody would give me my points! I can’t take it anymore. 1 move should not deplete a persons entire health bar. I shouldn’t be forced to main a certain character(that don’t even enjoy playing with) in order to compete in a game

This is literally my experience now! Was using my fav Hit to rank up and as soon as I hit B1 I ran into these characters in this order: Full Power Jiren, SSJ. Vegito, Two SSJ 4 Gogeta’s, SSJ Blue Gogeta, and a bunch of Ultra/Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku’s. I was so livid cause I got ranked down to B3 cause of all the nonsense. I had to go to the dark side and start using Gotenks 😔.

As a “A3” you run into randomly skillful players however more often your gonna face off against cheese metas + Giants, Everyone Spams, so you have to learn the spam and evade it perfectly, most S rank opponents seemlessly evade most attacks and Spam you, p.s Ginyu Has never got “it” off on me in Ranked

First off, I just got the game last week and haven't even gone online yet. I wanna get more used to the mechanics. I'm NGL, I'm not gonna complain about people playing G4 based off certain things. Me personally, I'm gonna play the characters I actually like. I like G4. I like Ultra Instinct Goku. Even Super Saiyan 3 Goku is one of my favorites. I'm gonna enjoy myself. I don't like Videl. I don't want to play some lame ass character, I want to play the cool looking ones. It's not my job to coddle my opponent and play the game I paid for to get the exact way they want me play. People shouldn't have to sit there and play the character they don't like or straight up hate because it's more balanced or privileged. Some dude comes home from his overtime and just wants to play G4 because he thinks G4 is cool, who cares. But to start with, even if they nerfed these cooler characters, like G4, UI, etc, I'd still play them. I play characters I like because I like them, not because they're overpowered. I played Ultra Instinct Goku in Xenoverse 2 when he came out and he was borderline unplayable, I also played LF SSG Goku in Legends when he came out, I also loved playing both G4 and Blue Vegeta both in FighterZ because I like both the characters and I like their animations. But even though some of these characters are my favorite, I'm not gonna cheese with them. I'm not gonna play like a jackass. If I'm gonna play G4, I'm gonna try to play fair even with a broken kit, try to make it more fair and fun for who I'm fighting in PVP. The problem isn't the character, you shouldn't be bastardized for playing UI Goku because you like the character. You should be bastardized based on your playstyle, how you play the character, not which character you are using. Again, it's no one elses job to coddle you, or problem that you decided to play a weaker character, the problem is how they play their favorite character. Some characters are just better than others, but you should still have some honorable style in the way you play, or don't rage-quit and talk shit. You can cheese or talk shit, you can't do both. it's the player. There just needs to be penalties for rage-quitting, and more balances need to be put in.

If you think Videl is cool, play Videl, if you think G4 is cool, play G4. I personally don't like Goku Black, other people love Goku Black. But no matter what character you're playing, you shouldn't be locked into the electric chair because you happen to like UI Goku and think he's cool. Dude it’s actually insane. This Hit main couldn’t beat me straight up throwing hands ( I’m as playing early Z vegeta ) So after 3 games he swaps to Gogeta and just gives up entirely on trying to play legitimately. Reverted to Vanish attack spam until they get lucky a single time and it works allowing them to pull off instant sparking and ult me and then leaves lobby after a single win. Absolutely insane man

I do the same, I tend to create my own lobbies most of the time. Any Gogeta/Brolys just get kicked after the match. I just put my controller down and let them beat me quick so it’s over (win ratios don’t mean nuthin’) then boot them out! You quickly end up with a more fun lobby where you can trade wins/losses.

The worst thing, is when people start saying you can’t play without ui Goku, so you pick Picollo, and they still rage quit, How to get good: 1. Go to tutorial and learn your counters 2. Leant to watch the point gauge to see if someone is using wild sense or after image strike 3. Learn how to 1 punch teleport and side step to a T, because you need it to counter wild sense and android 19 and 20 4. Sometimes if you can’t beat em join them, and you do not need ss4 gogeta or ui, - Pan, Kid Goku, and kid gohan can play like Vegito, Golden Frieza, Caulifa, Kale, Piccolo, Base Future no sword trunks, Goku ss1, vegeta ss2, and so one - got wild sense and damn near play like ui if you got the skill Biggest help - if you want to learn how to fight better, use Android 17 or 18, since you can’t charge, they lack wild sense, and after image, you are forced to have hands, counter, teleport and fight like a damn warrior - that’s how my hand game got outstanding My favorite team - Golden Frieza, Android twins, Kale Legendary slim, and Caulifa ss2 - last 2 have unblockable finishers and Wild sense, Frieza got wild sense and ultimate charge, android twins wreck the future so why not

Coming from someone who's trying to play the game competitively (currently S4 rn), I've gotta say there's definitely more ingrained issues to this as well. So right off the bat, the games core-mechanics like defense, offense and movement are completely unbalanced. Defense in this game is everything and it's became so easy compared to BT3 with the buff to Super-Counters and the addition of Perception & Super Perception, Movement actually got a huge nerf with the speed being toned down considerably and everything costing Ki, Offense stayed the same with only damage increases. I presume these changes were made to in theory should make the game faster paced but what's happened is the game has became so defense-heavy and with defense so easy now, This promotes a much more timid playstyle. There's also the changes with skill-count gain, Skills were never meant to be used so frequently in the Budokai Tenkaichi Series because these things are game-changing and now since we get 2 or 3 points within 30-40 seconds of a match and even more with vanish wars or LITERALLY TAKING A BEATING (seriously we should not be getting points super fast for getting beat up), the abusability of these game-changing skills has went up. Super-Perception can also be abused with the fast skill-gain as well, making going for backshots the only viable combo option but Super-Counter is so easy that it doesn't even matter that you go that route. So with these changes, what happens is the person who's getting demolished is getting rewarded with skill points that can be used to abuse skills and use easy defense options to get out a combo while the person going in for combos is being left with nothing, no skill points, no ki. This is ultimately made worse with the Meta Characters since their whole counter-play is not giving them a chance to breathe but in the process of doing that, you're basically giving them their easy-win tools, so when you finally think you have a second to breathe, all it takes is single second for them to use their skill and then you have to go hyper-defensive with what little you have. And that's what I hate, it's punishing you for out-skilling them. It's scrub-pandering heavily. At this point, it's not the characters or the skills, it's just how the game was fundamentally built and you can even see how it is on the competitive stage since recently France had their Tourney finals and they were using the Android 19/20 Stall methods (flying up and down since they don't lose Ki from Dragon Dash and every movement option is too slow to catch up) and the fact that it's actually competitively viable is horrid, even competitive BT3 wasn't like this.

Haha i feel you, reached B5 recently and it has been hard to move up. I agree the cheese is annoying and some things must improve, specially the quitting to protect the rank. But as you said yourself, these things are also counterable and you have a pretty cheese team yourself. Goku and Vegeta blue + Z broly? Come on hahaha

Yeah im stuck in that rank right now but i know why, my character can't close out games like that. I play Hit so my only long game options are Time-skip to force them to lose focus on me and i can try and charge KI or his Ki-Clone which gives me one free evasive, but i can't capitalize off of winning vanish wars and putting them back in Oki. If i fuck up once, the character im fighting usually has instant spark and an unblockable ultimate. Vanishing online is so damn hard and i have nothing cheap to compensate for it.

@@TheWindBlack hit is tough I like hit I’d say the only thing you can do is hit up that training bro and then go into online with intent to win a vanish war. But as far as fighting guys like that you can’t give them no breathing room. If I were you I’d use that time skip as a way to get behind your opponent and get a combo/super of your own off. Time skip is like instant transmission I’ve used techniques like this to get out of a spirit bomb before and pull off a super of my own. You gotta get creative with it.

Im s5 now, and yesterday during a ranked session i fought the same jeren 4 different times and and he left 3 times because i would hit him with a special that would have killed while he was insta sparking the one game he didn't leave was when he got his insta spark and hit his alt. I hate that high rank doesn't mean it's a good player

I started playing fighting games for the first time since sparking zero launch and i was getting cooked even in d5 because i didn’t know how to even use the controller buttons correctly, but i decided to learn the game because i love it and learn all the techniques and combos, movements, etc.Now b rank is fairly easy, and i’m currently a1 rank but i keep loosing because of better cheese players but i accept thats on me because i have’t learned yet the game properly.so my message for the people stuck at b ranks is to just play more and learn the game and the low skill cheesers will not be a problem👍🏻

I once faced off against a guy in B rank who just kept messing up his combos intentionally to cause a hard knock down. Something like: light light Ki, light light ki. That shit sends you crashing to the floor, unable to recover until your character stops bouncing off the ground like a basketball. If he didn't spam that shit every combo, and if my internet actually let me super counter his hits I would have had a fighting chance 😒

this is going to be long. The other night I went from B1 down to B5 back up to B1 back down to B5 almost six times over. I was so frustrated and annoyed because the only characters I was losing to was gogeta and MUI Goku. I have never used gogeta in rank, I was trying to get to A1 using hit only. it brought me to the point where I swapped to gogeta and won 10 games in a row. I made it all the way up to A5, and for some reason I didn't see a single gogeta or MUI Goku while I was playing gogeta. I honestly was really confused, as gogeta I kept going against guys that were definitely good but we're all playing weaker characters, and when I was playing a character that I don't even think is on the list of weaker characters all I was getting was gogeta.

I think every player that wants to get better should spend sometime playing with non-meta characters. You'll eventualy fight from equal to equal against the guys on your same rank with OP characters. Then, when you decide to use a meta character again, you will rank up easily. Think as this as a training arc, like when goku trained with more weight/gravity to get used to this disadvantage, then go absolutely wild on an even ground. Just as an example, i was playing with Goku Black, Perfect Cell and Majin Vegeta on A5-S4, then when i changed to FullPower Jiren i reached S1 in just one session. Next session for sure i will get Z rank.

I’m B3 (peak B2) and my main is SSJ2 adult gohan. I love him, gohan has always been my favorite and the dabura fight gohan drip is immaculate. But i will admit, i gave in and started using S tier character for a while. I was so tired of playing ssj4 gogetas and super vegitos every match that i joined the dark side

Easy to counter though; just like the ultimates..only issue is the rage quitting and getting bored stalling afterimage,which I just use super counters/vanishes to drain while gaining skills..
