ShadowBlade they are to two completely different familie. T. rex came from the late Cretaceous. Allosaurus lived with stegosaurus from mid to late Jurassic period until the earth got colder, causing tougher plants to evolve that didn’t waste as much energy in leaves. Stegosaurus, camarosaurus and other herbivores died out as they struggle to digest these plants and they needed a lot of nutrients. Allosaurus specialised in hunting large dinosaurs such as stegosaurus so when they died out and were replaced with smaller agile herbivores they didn’t adapt and died out.

Spinosaurs and allosaurs are somewhat related. All spinosaurs such as irritator and spinosaurus were all pescavores, or fish eaters, while allosaurs were terrestrial and hunted creatures like camptosaurus. BTW, allosaurus and tyrannosaurus are not related. They are in separate orders. Rexes also had a lot more feathering than all allosaurs.

So happy about the Spinosaurus spotlight. I would like to see a Utahraptor highlight, my favourite. One of the smartest animals of it's time, as well as one of the fastest, it stood at 7ft tall (shoulder) with a foot long claw on each foot. 8:07 Few feet? Unless there was a new discovery recently, the longest T-Rex was 39 feet, 11 feet shorther than the Spinosaurus. Regarldess, Spinosaurus is the largest terrestial carnivore to evolve. It should be noted that the Spinosaurus was completely capable of taking on larger terrestial herbivores, or even taking in the Carcharodontasaurus (probably spelled that wrong). Also, because fish were so slippery, the Spinosaurus' teeth were used to catch and throw on land, where the Spinosaurus would slice it up so it could swallow it.

Sue reached a size of 12,29 feet which transelates to ~40,5 feet. Trix is said to be 12 to 12,5 meters long by the musea it stayed in which transelates to ~41 feet max. the smallest adult specimenindividual CM 9380(the holotype) reached 11,88 meters(~39 feet) in lenght(Hutchinson et al. 2011) Spinosaurus might have only reached 11,5 meters(37,7 feet) in lenght(Arden et al. 2018), we don't know for sure so we can't conclude Spinosaurus reached *49* feet. And even then Spinosaurus is estimated to reach 6 to 7 tonnes while CM 9380 mass estimations start at 6,7 tonnes(like I said, this is the smallest specimen) and the largest individuals reached 9+ tonnes(Snively et al. 2018 & Campione et al. 2014). Size isn't determined by lenght, mass is what determines an animals size. So no, Spinosaurus is not the largest terrestial predator anymore and basicly never was. Spinosaurus only lived along side a 1 tonne hadrosaur(Auranosaurus), huge freaking sauropods like titanosaurus and other small herbivores. It didn't hunt moderatly large herbivores. So what larger herbivore could it hunt except a sauropod hatchling that was large? Carcharadontosaurus was a much more developed terrestial predator and the exact same size as Spinosaurus except more agile, faster, way more lethal bite and lives in a much more competative environment. Spinosaurus did not have the advantage in this fight at all... it would have been sluggish due to it's small hind limbs and it would have been slow for the exact same reason. And the evidence we have of Spinosaurus is a vertabre of Spinosaurus bitten in half by Carcharadontosaurus...

An entertaining video as always infographic Show. While the title of this video is correct and agreed upon universally, there are some thing's that I feel you could have explained more. For starters, those *"various close relatives of T.Rex"* that Spinosaurus competed with and fought against were actually not related to Tyrannosaurus but more towards the Carcharodontosaurid family. And if anyone is interested in which those theropods were: *Sauroniops pachytholus,* a ~12 meter long carcharodontosaurid known from an isolated frontal. *Bahariasaurus,* a ~ possibly 12 meter long possibly megaraptorian theropod. *Carcharodontosaurus Saharicus* whom grew 13.7 meters to 14 meters according to Paul Sereno and colleagues making it significantly larger than Tyrannosaurus. Often times fought with Spinosaurus as seen in 2013's Planet Dinosaur. *Sigilmassasaurus brevicollis,* another spinosaurid from the same formation that's known from some cervical and dorsal vertebrae as well as some quadrate material from Morocco. Grew over 12m long. I may be nitpicking here but, Spinosaurus was more than just "a couple of feet bigger than Tyrannosaurus" actually since the largest Tyrannosaurus ( FMNH PR 2081) was 40ft long while the estimates for Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus is anywhere from 50ft to 60ft long since we dont have a accurate fossil reconstruction. Definitely more than a couple feet I presume. While Tyrannosaurus, for its size, is relatively bulkier, Spinosaurus is far from being *slender*. Weight estimates for Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus run between 7-21 metric tons. A more idealistic estimate would be 10-14 tons since Scott Hartman had but a 15.6m average sized Spinosaurus at 12 tons. The neural spines were 5.7ft to 6ft long and paleontologists are still puzzled on what purpose it served. A "sail" is one of the many theories purposed but would serve very little to it. Ernest Stromer suggested it was a hump or muscular crest similar to another theropod named Acrocanthosaurus. But more research is needed. Lastly, I want to stress out that Spinosaurus is *not* primarily a piscivore (fish eater) based on its other sub-family branch Baryonychinae etc or a quadruped/short hind legged creature from Nizar's 2014 reconstruction. Having a juvenile Iguaodon remains founded inside its stomach. Or the tooth embedded in a pterosaur vertebrate from a Spinosaurus. This video did mention that its characteristics are similar to a crocodile as well as its jaws and conical teeth. Yet Crocodiles preyed on large herbivores such as water buffalo, gazelles or zebras. Spinosaurus jaws were designed to grip and hold prey. Not exclusively for aquatic prey. Read Evers and Henderson's paper for more information.

@hunternovice7731
@hunternovice7731 5 жыл бұрын
@@logicandfact4146 You can not base how dangerous or what animal is considered an "apex predator" by simply it's range of diet. For example in your comment, you mentioned Crocodiles are similarly identical to Spinosaurus. Yet Crocodiles are fish eaters that ruled the rivers while it's diet also includes Zebras, Gazelles or other large herbivores. Spinosaurus, basing it off its size is a formidable predator surrounding itself with other large predators as stated in original comment. No theropod in history has ever lived in such a dangerous competitive environment.
@JCRev
@JCRev 5 жыл бұрын
@@hunternovice7731 You stated that it was not a fish eater, but in the friendliest way possible - it was. Whilst yes, the snout was elongated, actually the crocodile comparison isn't accurate. Crocodiles had a considerably wider and stronger jaw, and a much greater bite force that Spinosaurus simply lacked. On top of that, its sail would have made it clearly visible when swimming and so herbivores at the river back would have seen it and had time to flee. And as far as hunting on land goes, again the bite force is too weak for much damage to larger animals, and its legs weren't long enough to give it much speed, which it would need as again the sail would have greatly restricted ambush capabilities. Also, its bones are much denser and lack as many hollow cavities as other large predators, and adaptation that would have greatly increased swimming abilities, and if I'm correct analysis of the bones show a large amount of Spinosaurus' life was spent in water. So from this, it seems pretty safe to say that Spinosaurus was adapted to a primarily semi-aquatic lifestyle, and this lifestyle along with it's anatomy heavily suggests a piscivorous diet. Oh and yes, the sail is most likely as a hump would be unecessary and heavy, and a sail would be useful as a large display structure, either for mating, letting other Spinosaurus know it was there, appearing threatening to other Spinosaurus or large carnivores, or any mix of these.
@hunternovice7731
@hunternovice7731 5 жыл бұрын
@@JCRev Fish was part of Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus diet but it was not it's primary food choice through out the day. I am sure you have heard that fishing is a patience game correct? Surely something of this size with an active metabolism isn't primarily targeting fish. Crocodiles, as I'm currently working with in my lab hours, have thinner jaws but rather large muscle attachments in the mandible. We currently have no knowledge of this regarding Spinosaurus in the fossil records so estimations of its bite force is hard to determine. We can guess though basing it off of it's sub family branches like Baryonychinae. Doing this, we get estimated guesses of 2-3 tons etc. I dont know if you know your pressure durabilities but this type of force will just about do in anything. Well Spinosaurus would only be in the waters when hunting giant fish. If it decided to hunt on land, it wouldn't ambush them in the waters but on land like an terrestrial animal. "Its legs weren't long enough to give it much speed" Read my original post on this matter. Scroll down. Semi-aquatic lifestyle was long established for Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus but it is not limited to just that in a area with rich resources. Polar Bears are a prime example of this fitting in every criteria you brought up here. A sail actually brings in more questions than answers. It serves very little purpose and seemed odd for a theropod. An example? Acrocanthosaurus had a similar nueral spine elongation going on but much smaller. Yet it forced differently.

You left out some huge factors that really make the Trex the true most greatest predator. Because of the placement of its eyes it had stereoscopic vision meaning it possibly had vision greater then a hawk. Also there is alot of evidence on it's bones that proved it was a very muscular animal capable of using its body to ram things with great force. It also had an amazing sense of smell capable of smelling prey from great distances away. Its skull was also very durable and think meaning its head could be used as sort of a battering ram when charging. The true king of predators; The Trex.

Small flaw with the T-rex. It did not live along side what loo ks to be some sort of stegosaurus, wasn't said but animation wise was a flaw. Also the spino wouldn't have been a really big threat to most terrestrial animals due to its sail being fused to its spine, the threat of breaking its back due to the smallest fights or just by being pushed over is just too high for them to have really risked it. It was likely they were scavengers and fish eaters.
