I was in the hospital a few days from burnt ass coffee and TNT was playing the OT for 3 days straight. Since whenever I come across Star Wars on TV I can't change the channel - I watched it the entire time I was there. Many nurses came in to check on my burnt ass and have friendly conversation but not one made a comment about Star Wars. Not even a passing glance at the television. I finally asked one about my age "hey what's your favorite Star Wars movie" - and she had never seen any of them. She said she tried once but they were just too goofy why making a "eww I just drank burnt ass coffee" face.

You're right, Junkman... Girls aren't Star Wars fans! Now, I had a female cousin that liked Star Wars, when we were kids. Or so I thought, until she let out a girly scream when Luke appeared on the screen. Then I realized she didn't like Star Wars. She had a crush on Mark Hamill! And you know what? I _loathed_ having to listen to her go on and on all the time about Luke being "cute"! Every time my brother and friends would get together to play with our Star Wars figures, she would come running over, shouting "I get all the Luke figures!" and then grab up all the Luke figures! Then she would go through all my Star Wars bubblegum cards and pick out all the Luke ones and say "Luke's cute in this one!" and then _tell me_ she was going to keep them! But then, one day, she threw them all back at me and no longer wanted to play with all the Luke action figures. Which was fine with me, but then she asked me, "Do you know why I don't want these anymore? Luke's _married_! How could he do this to me?! I hate Luke!". And that's the kind of girly crap I had to put up with during my childhood. Took a lot of therapy to get through it, but I finally made it. Anyone else have any sister or female cousin horror stories concerning Star Wars? I have a support group...

Empire Strikes Back. There was girls in the theater,same with Return of the Jedi. In fact the Star Wars club I was in was started by two girls. So to end this, Girls do like Star Wars.

Nowadays, I go to a Maiden concert and its not just dudes, and its not just dudes with girlfriends. There are actual females (old and young) who somehow woke up and liked it! I told them it was good in the 80s and they didn't want to listen then, but now they do! Holy sh*t, there are actually all female Iron Maiden tribute bands out there! It's mind-blowing!

No, Star Wars was not FOR girls, even Lucas said that. But that in no way meant girls weren’t invited to enjoy it. Unlike boys, girls will watch a broader range of content than just what’s aimed at their interests. So you’ll find a good number of girls who will watch it. HOWEVER… getting them to SPEND THEIR MONEY on Star Wars tickets and merch is a VASTLY different thing. They don’t spend much if anything on SW. Lucasfilm couldn’t pay their electric bill with “girl” money. And that’s why content was not aimed at them.

Disney bought Marvel and Star Wars for male market share, because Disney was thought of primarily as a girl focused studio and merchandise. Female Outliers are not a majority of the audience. Kathleen Kennedy wanted a cutout for female only while diminishing males. She said so herself. You only have to look at the films. This includes JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson.

Junkman, I know you are just joking in this video because I know you are not misogynistic. Star Wars is for boys, girls, men, women and yes even LBGTQ. My best friend from college was a total Star Wars geek like me. She and I pushed her boyfriend (who hated Star Wars) to go and see the Special Editions. She, myself and our friend Brian waited in line at the Chinese Theatre for hours and her boyfriend Walz over only about an hour when we were suppose to go in and was being totally "cool" and thinking we were geeks. Any anytime I bought a new Star Wars action figure or toy (90s version) she would come over because she was the only person I could share this was. She even went through my original trilogy collection and kept tearing saying how she wished she kept hers. My friend Kristina who I only met around the prequel trilogies loves Star Wars beyond imagination. she loved it more than Barbie (although she loves Barbie and so do I actually). Then there is my concertmaster and best friend who also. plays in my orchestra loves Star Wars to the point she is not sure about the sequel trilogies or even the special editions. So I have known many girls who loved and love Star Wars. There is one other collection of people that are forgotten, LGBTQ. They also love Star Wars. I know because I am gay. Been gay longer than I loved Star Wars and I loved it since I was 9. (I just didn't realize I was gay until I was 13). George Lucas says Star Wars is for kids (no gender implied) but I think he missed the point. Everyone loves Star Wars. And there have been women who have been a part of Star Wars right from the beginning, starting with George Lucas' wife doing the edits. I am pretty sure you knew girls who loved it too. To be honest, my best friend from college loved seeing hands cut off with the lightsaber. I mean well she did run over boyfriends with her car and thew knives at them. LOL
