Vince has said it multiple times over the years. Stone Cold is the biggest, most important, highest grossing wrestler in history. There isn’t a close second.

I think Austin felt betrayed when they asked him to job to Brock on Raw as if that’s all he was good for. Austin is the star that shifted the tide of the Monday night wars. If he hadn’t caught on when he did the McMahons would’ve been working for Ted Turner

What people forget is that Vince was punishing Austin for trashing creative on "Byte This". That's why they had him wrestling Lesnar in that match he was to lose. Austin has other plans as we clearly saw...😅😅😅

Yh. They were going for the Goldberg type thing… feed ur new monster stars as if they’re jobbers. They should have known not to go to Steve for it though… they knew how long he fought for his run.. the bulls*%t he went through at wcw and ecw … hell that’s how “stone cold” was born! On a n ecw improvised interview / vignette just saying the truth about dusty/hogan/bischoff whilst in character

He wasn’t a chump back then either. But he was on the come up, and Austin had a point about being the last, rather than the first, but mentally he probably wasn’t in the place to talk it through with them. He had nothing in the tank.

Brock was a chump in comparison to Austin in wwf/wwe, then, and even today. That's not to say Brock isn't great. He's just not on Austin's level.

When I was watching wrestling there was a great roster during the attitude days. However by far the most electrifying wrestler was stone cold. He was miles ahead of the rock, triple h, undertaker and Kane. People say the rock was bigger I don’t even think he came close.

Fun fact Vince punished Austin for walking out when he agreed to come back and Austin was fined for it by Vince! It was a massive $$$ fine that Steve acceptable but talked Vince into getting it lower then he wanted

Steve Austin did more for Vincent mcmann than Vince mcmann did for Steve Austin. Austin had so many rivalries with the rock and many other wrestlers. Stone cold was the loud mouth in the WWF the attitude era. The show was better with all those feuds Austin had back in the nineties.

Robin was actually a legit WWE fan back then, early - mid/late 90’s a few of em (Robin, Ronnie and his crew - Neil Drake, Wayne Seagel maybe Dominic Barbera but dunno) would get together for the PPVs, that’s why she would be in heaven when most of the wrestlers came in

In a few years, he became a multiple times Royal Rumble winner and WWE Champion. In such a short time, he accomplished what others couldn't in their entire careers. Eventually, there was very little the creative could do with him and new talents such as Brock Lesnar needed to be pushed in order to lead the company to the Ruthless Aggression Era.

It's Steve Austin though, why should he job to some newcomer at the time on a random episode of Raw? It wasn't even that Steve didn't want to put Brock over, he wanted it done on a PPV with a storyline

It wasn't "some chump," it was Brock Lesnar in the King of the Ring tournament lol. But I do agree with Austin not wanting to have that match on TV. He said he'd do it on PPV if they built it up.

Much as I love Steve he absolutely walked out due to ego. If he had so much health issues why would he want to do a whole feud with Brock Lesnar, whose signature moveset includes multiple German suplexes that would put further strain on his spine and neck?
