Brethren, Do not rest in those who go to school to understand the Word of God. If it is good to receive an education, but this is not enough. The understanding of the Written Word is given by the Holy Spirit who lives in us when we repent of all our sins and let Yahshua and His Spirit reign in our lives. I cannot tell you how important this lecture is. It should be the basis of the Christian religion. I am Jewish and Revelation is not in the Jewish Bible . BUT it could be . It is identical to a whole school of Jewish apocalyptic writing at the time of Jesus . It is how Jesus the Jew would have seen the final days. It must have been written in Hebrew and translated into Greek.

The reason Apocalypse/Revelation is not read in the Byzantine liturgy is because the lectionary was formulated before the book was confirmed as canonical.

When you are ready to understand the scruptures as they should be - you'll find what you seek right here. We are NOT reading this 'book' in the proper context and it should NOT be surprizing while the place is falling apart. In Revelation we see question posed... "Where is your God?" as being the mocking of non-believers, when the truth is that our God is NEVER absent, never sleeping, and never 'releaving Himself' - and that 'thief' that is waited for? Well, I am 'he'.

Margaret Barker is the finest biblical scholar of the last 100 years and she did the spadework - the ancient languages as used in Jesus' time. Some of the translations, ancient and modern, have been appalling. A faith based on sola scripture is built on dry sand. The Apocrypha - the books excluded from the protestant canon - are the key to understanding the New Testament.

I wish I could speak to this woman... or find anyone else like her, as she has a very level headed view of a Revelation vs. the 'monster story' and 'message of doom' context that makes the writing all be useless as to the 'map and guide' that it is. It is the reason that we are told to KEEP the words of this 'prophecy', meaning it is something to do at 'any time' as Jesus said. Not something to sit around and complacently 'wait for'. That is the mistake that the Ninevites did NOT make. Jesus is not a 'get out of jail free' card, nor fire insurance. That 'lake of fire'? You are standing in it right now.

The book of revelation cannot be understood without knowledge of the Jewish scriptures. In addition the book is full of imagery and code and is being played out now. If you speak with Jewish scholers you will be amazed at the real revelation which is the revelation of Jesus Christ through John.

She is actually quite ignorant on the book of revelation. It was yet future prophecy when it was written before the destruction of the temple. It was fulfilled in the war of the Jews. It's last chapter still calls for humans to acknowledge the truth and so be welcomed into the eternal heavens.

If Jesus meant the Holy of Holies, he likely would have SAID Holy of Holies, so people would know what he was talking about. But no, Jesus wanted Barker to come along in 2000 years or so and explain what he meant for him. I doubt Jesus was as hung up on the temple as she is.

The book of revelation contradicts everything Jesus said.It should have been left out like the other roughly 42 books they left out.It is a vision of John and is taken as truth.
