I just watched a competitive pokémon video taking place in the gen 9 OU meta game about the imitation pokemon Sudowoodo. A pokémon who imitates a tree, to block your path. Quite a disturbance

Do not worry. In generation 11, Sudowoodo will gain 3 new evolutions depending on what environment you level him: Phoneyboney - impersonates a ghostly skeleton, but is actually Fighting type Shamclam - impersonates a watery shellder, but is actually fairy Mockrock - impersonates a rocky Geodude, but is actually steel
@KLIXORtheАй бұрын
I think keeping the theme of having the Sudowoodo's actual typing resist most of the implied typing's weaknesses should be kept. Phoney could be dark type, Shamclam could be grass type, and Mockrock could be bug type.
@SeetiyanАй бұрын
@@KLIXORthe That's actually great. I never noticed the opposing resistances of the original vs what it's impersonating. Nice! That bug type masquerading as a rock type is especially appealing to me.

I used to do something similar with aggron in gen 7, except I ran autotomize/ice punch/stealth rock/reversal. Autotomize was sweet because if you read your opponent was gonna set up hazards instead of attacking first turn to try to trade rocks, you could autotomize and win the 1v1 vs landorus-T, heatran, garchomp, and tyranitar, and then get a fast stealth rock against their next mon, or go for reversal for damage. It could also check battlebond greninja by switching into a specs locked hydropump, and KOing it with custap reversal. I peaked around 1660 elo with it iirc.
@crazylasagna3576Ай бұрын
Another benefit of using uncommon pokemon is other player's don't know what to expect. Even if you're a super experienced, die hard competitive player, are you REALLY going to be able to perfectly read a Sudowoodo the first time it drops onto the field?

There is only one other pokemon In SV who gets all those moves/ability other than head smash, that being carbink, who would likely not get brought to custap range as easily, so it is neat to see how niche this particular mons utility is :D specifically giving him spikes and not golem or donphan makes him so much better

Yeah, its been pretty common on things like lead Skarmory and Forretress in the past. I think I saw a video where someone used Gluttony Custap Snorlax with BellyDrum+SelfDestruct.
