First Things First co-host Chris Broussard joins Colin Cowherd to break down the Minnesota Timberwolves 106-99 Game 1 win over the Denver Nuggets and discuss why they are legitimate title contenders. Brou then breaks down why the New York Knicks will eliminate the Indiana Pacers. He further explains why the Los Angeles Lakers made a mistake in firing Darvin Ham, then shares what trade he would make if he were a GM of a contending team.

Knicks and Timberwolves... two teams that are all hustle. Watch them, both play at a relentless, frenetic pace, every player always moving, swarming on defense, fighting for offensive boards, going for steals, going for blocks, running up and down the court, pouring sweat. A lot of these other teams jog back and forth, looking for someone to shoot a lazy 3, put a half-hearted hand up and call it D and are not even sweating a lot of the time!

If these coaches were so great, then they wouldn’t be so bad the year after LeBron leaves the team… When Michael Jordan left the Chicago Bulls the first time, the Bulls only won two fewer games then the previous year that they went to the finals, coaching matters and LeBron James consistently hasn’t had a top five coach in their prime coaching

Lakers made the best move with ham because I don't believe I'm not an insider, but I felt like some of the optics there was. The players weren't respecting him. His word wasn't carrying any weight and if you lose a team you can't be a successful coach. Did he deserve or not deserve? That's a different conversation, but when players have a bigger voice than the coach of course the front office has a bigger voice then the why would the coach want to be there

Frank Vogel doesn’t get as much credit as Spo or Lue (rightfully so to a degree) but after winning in 2020 Lebron shouted him out and said to give him his respect. The thing is both Lebron fans and detractors go to illogical lengths to pretend that the narratives surrounding Lebron are one sided as if he’s universally loved or hated on while he’s the most polarizing player ever. Lakers FO and Rob especially escape all the criticism lmao and hiding behind Bron. Bron has made mistake too with being convinced of Russ move once they didnt get him DeRozan which should have been the move at the time, instead Rob said Russ should help reduce pressure on Bron's playmaking and it just backfired big time . But this season is not on Bron at all, played as well as he could in Nuggets series and played 71 games in regular season . These guys dont watch most of the lakers games and what Ham was talking. Didnt take accountability as a coach, that comment about the starter and defending his support staff instead of player saying we all are upset and simply should have said " I have to be better". Didnt take the challenge in a game . So you don't trust your player on the floor and hands in pockets looking at the game without doing bunch of nothing most games. Just gets lost. Leading 150+ mins in nuggets series and went down . Look at Wolves in sustaining leads in both games. Thats coaching empowering the players. Nori will be a head coach next season.

Not sure how its an upset. Did you see how the nuggets played? It would be an upset if it was competitive and they lost, but they have not been close to competitive. Its just a flat out beating. Out coached, out played. With the back court hobbled and playing like their feet were stapled to the floor, best thing for Malone to do is call it a season. Pull Murray and KCP before they really hurt something and compromise next season. Nuggets are done, no shame in that, just ask the 76rs, Bucks, and Pelicans who got nailed by injuries of their own and couldn't right the ship(s) in time.

If LeBron had the power, everybody claims that he has then Ty Lue would be coaching the Lakers and not the clippers can’t have it both ways unless you’re Diddy

The funniest thing about the Laker /Ham is that it just proves that the entire promo job the NBA and sports media put into the In - Season tournament was bogus. There have been dog farts that had lingered longer - oh right they have a banner !!

The media always downplayed nikola jokic, and the nuggets. Never appreciated them . Just like boxing downplayed, and never appreciated sonny liston. Sad,but true.

6 mins of this 10 min clip is gossiping about a team that isn’t even playing. That’s the problem with nba media today. Invest in your young players and market them. Stop talking about old dudes who won’t win anything

I love when the talking heads just completely forget that the Knicks second best player is injured. The Knicks are a better team than Philly in every scenario. Knicks in 5 over Indy

Look if Lebron wants to win he should go to Sixers if they want him. If I am the Sixers I rather have Lebron over PG. If he doesn't care about winning he can stay with LA. For coaching I say just hire JJ so Lebron can discuss more plays with him on the podcast.

You can tell Bru and Marc Jackson are bible buddies because he’s the only one in the media still clamouring for Jackson to get another coaching. And cmon Chris, you know exactly why he hasn’t been given another chance, he tried to pit the Splash Bros against each other, amongst a ton of other well documented reasons. But he’s religious! Which is why Bru stumps for him constantly.
