Why Take ISAK OFF?? Newcastle 1-1 Brighton

Newcastle were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton & Hove Albion in their final home game of the 2023/24 campaign.
United still have two away games to play as they look to secure European football for a second season in a row, but were unable to sign off at St. James' Park with a victory on a sunny day on Tyneside. They did, however, fight back to earn a point which could yet prove vital when the final ball is kicked next weekend, following trips to Manchester United and Brentford.

Would imagine Isak came off because: 1) he was completely ineffective today. 2) to protect him for the away match at Man Ure, as we only have 1 striker now Wilson is injured AGAIN.

Its almost like there's a pattern there, isn't it. Should have sold him on in January. Undoubtedly a great striker when fit but he will never be able to play 30 games a season again.

Eddie had come out and said he was under the weather/feeling a bit sick yesterday and took him off as a precaution. He looked a bit miffed about being subbed mind.

1. He apparently wasn't feeling well since yesterday. 2. Isak was having a poor game. He put 1 decent cross into the box for Gordon that got cut out and that was about all he he did other than an already off target shot that got saved when he was through on the keeper. 3. It was very hot and we have another important match (probably more important than today) on Wednesday. Sensible to leave something in his tank for the next game especially given the Wilson issue. 4. The changes made actually led to a goal (just offside) and it came about entirely due to the subs and Gordon's change of position. Barnes > Almiron > Gordon.

Honestly, the second half changes made us better in terms of creating opportunities. We were second best in the midfield battle until the change despite the great pressing, but for all the good chances that came from the 2nd half changes, Isak's finishing was needed I understand that Isak may have been saved for the Wednesday game against Man Utd, and we should have put away our chances...but I do think those were 2 points dropped ahead of Wednesday. It would have given us enough of a cushion for a draw

First, Isak obviously was bad and almost being isolated whole game; second, we are going to play MU on Wednesday. It’s absolutely acceptable on why we sub off Isak for someone else since we still have options instead of just Wilson.

It’s amazing to see the fans here to demand someone to play the whole game while the effort was clearly not there and needed to change; and at the same time we need to save him since we have a much bigger game on Wednesday. This team clearly cannot deal with 2 or 3 games a week this season, which is totally unacceptable, and obviously the team can’t find the answer at the whole season since the team would always become way below average in some of those games, especially the away games. People needs to be more realistic about what the real problem we have instead of looking for wrong word using in one fans.

Isaak had an unusually poor day, was hardly in the game and just looked a bit off, he didn't chase down like he usually does, reasonable decision from Howe but unfortunately we weren't much better after. Dissapointing but fair result, onwards and upwards. ,

Looked like both teams had nothing to play for. Shocking from us given we are trying to get into Europe. Disappointing end to the season at SJP. Almiron deserved his yellow, just get rid together with Wilson and the other deadwoods. Barnes is just awful. I feel sorry for Maxi, we sold him for an overrated player who has added very little to our season. Manager shocked Isak by taking him off when we needed a goal.
