I once visited maamallapuram. there i came across two 5.5 feet ht elephant statues in a sculptures shop. I inquired for price and he said it is 25.. I asked him Rs.25000 is too much for a stone statue. He replied the price is not for stone but for mastery of sculptor's work and moreover it is not Rs.25000 it is 25 lakh...! from then i came to know the worth of pallava style hand made works which you can find only in maamallapuram zone...worth visit..
