For all the MAGA that are in comments: The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is an independent agency of the United States government that protects bank depositors' insured deposits if their bank fails. The FDIC was established by Congress in 1933 in response to bank failures during the Great Depression. Would you prefer that Musk and Trump prevent you from accessing your bank to get your pay, SSA, or SSI money? If your answer is yes, you likely either don't receive a paycheck in this country or you're engaging in self-destructive behavior. Most of them that are bashing MSMBC are just lonely little Trolls with no credibility and cannot comprehend the topic.
@jennifershanks45318 күн бұрын
I found out recently that the FDIC doesn’t guarantee 100% of your deposit though. It’s kind of like bankruptcy. You get a percentage. But that’s better than nothing!
@marlapate603418 күн бұрын
@@jennifershanks453depends how much you have in the bank. It does cover 100% up to $250,000 per depositor, per bank. The average person doesn’t have nearly that amount so we would be safe. The host did say that in this article, and I also just researched the topic. We need the FDIC and can only hope Trump doesn’t take that away from us, too.
@MalcolmRose-l3b18 күн бұрын
@@jennifershanks453 "FDIC deposit insurance covers $250,000 per depositor, per FDIC-insured bank, for each account ownership category" - that's from the FDIC. If you're fortunate enough to have more than $250K on deposit just spread it across multiple FDIC insured banks. You have a million in cash? No problem - just open 4 qualifying accounts at 4 FDIC insured banks. And joint accounts get both parties $250K in coverage, so $500K in total. It isn't "kind of like bankruptcy" - it is bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is not being able to meet your debts as they fall due - which is exactly what happens when there is a run on a bank - the bank is bankrupt. So over that $250K FDIC insured limit you're just another creditor and will, if you're lucky, get a few cents on the dollar. Spread your wealth around different FDIC insured banks and you don't have anything to worry about (except perhaps why you're sitting on a big pile of cash when you could be doing something more productive with your money).
@jbramblett18 күн бұрын

My bet is they're going to shift the cost of deposit insurance to the depositors. You can get it, but only if you pay for it, not the bankers. But don't think for a moment your interest earnings on your deposits will go up as the bank's expenses go down. It's just another transfer of wealth from the have nots to the haves.

Thanks for the breakdown! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?

There are plenty of other places to keep money. Places that actually have yields greater than 0.01%.

What is the matter with one person becoming a trillionaire. Just think how financially secure he could feel. A trillion dollars distributed to ordinary citizens would just be wasted on food, clothing, housing and healthcare.

If he shuts down the FDIC, I’ll probably withdraw with 90% of my cash and hide it under the sheets.

Regressive monetary policy has got to stop. Borrowing the term regressive from tax policy, but lets be real, inflation is just corporate levied tax on the individual.

Too bad this issue will never be discussed on Fox, the Trumpers really need to be aware of this before Trump decides to implement this!

My grandfather would rap money in tin foil and put in the deep freezer. He would write on the foil "meat" ....puts a whole new meaning to "cold hard cash"😂

If this happened most of my money would be in stocks and index funds, or a credit union. Cause im not dealing with Banks or putting money in my mattress in case the house burns down.

The problem for billionaires is the FDIC is related to the regulation of banks and the movement of money.......say from Russia to Musk and from Musk to Russia just for examples.

The FDIC like all government programs have become bloated through the decades to the point every 6 people out of 10 are working from home and never see the offices they're assigned to.
