Definitely Hanoi or provincial city. Be careful in more rural areas, don't go with unknown or brand new schools as they have no reputation and are therefore most likely to screw you.

Hello, about the degree that you mentioned at 17:00. Can i ask if they always verify (is it necessary?) the degree or can I just bring it printed?
@sujoyinvietnam7 ай бұрын
They do check the original. Please get your original degree from your home country as this will be required for your work permit process here in Vietnam. You need to have your original college /university degree and your original teaching certificate. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing . I’m considering enrolling in a TEFL program with ITTT. A 4 week program that has live teaching to Vietnamese students. It is a very intense curriculum. Hoping to start in July 2024 so I can finish by the time hiring season starts . I’m a little older (57) but I’m in pretty good health (knock on wood). I just retired here in US and my Vietnamese wife currently resides in Go Vap . I have a 5 year marriage visa through 2027 so I’m good . Been to Vietnam many times since 2017 and knew I wanted to permanently retire there and my wife is very traditional so she wasn’t interested to coming to USA. I love the Children there , they are so energetic and normally teachers are highly respected in their culture . I know this won’t be super long term but I have a good idea of what to expect and I have my wife to help me as usual lol.

I wish you all the very best with your teaching. I think that's a great idea enrolling with ITTT. I have stayed in Go Vap for over 2 years, and so much has changed there ever since. All the very best!

Hello! very informative video! I have a question. I do not have a university degree. Is just getting the TFEL enough to get me employed somewhere? or is it impossible without a degree? I am a native English speaker born in the states, moving to Vietnam next year and its a job i've considered

You may wish to try some small centers in Vietnam, like Ha Noi or Saigon. Just visit them personally or just send them an email with your cv. But, if you are applying with Vietnamteachingjobs site, your chances would be slim, as many schools and centers on that teaching job site, require a degree like a bachelor's. Hope this helps & Good Luck 😉

Hello and thanks for your video, can I teach in Vietnam while I am non native but hold a PhD in TEFL from my country and years of experience?
@sujoyinvietnam6 ай бұрын
Yes, that's possible. But I suggest you first consult with your future employer prior to coming here in Vietnam.

It's only private, international schools that provide flights and accommodation. For these jobs you need a masters degree and a government teaching certificate from your home country. This type of teacher can pick and choose which countries they want to work in because they are in high demand. They have to work long hours to justify their packages and be at school for the whole day but on the positive side they get long paid holidays.
@sujoyinvietnam7 ай бұрын
Most international schools and reputed private centers like ILA, VUS, etc., do provide flight tickets and accomodation support. Yes, you need to sign a 2 years contract with them. Should you terminate your contract due to some reason, your work permit visa gets cancelled and you may need to pay some losses. That's the reality.

Teaching English in Vietscam. Many KZbinrs only talk about the food and the good stuff here, they don't say the truth, they don't say that if someone has brown skin, makes his chances very low in finding a job.

Good evening, Sujoy Do you know if there is a demand in Russian teachers or if there is any kind of a trend?
@sujoyinvietnam4 ай бұрын
Russian teachers are in high demand in Thailand. Accepting Russian and East EU Teachers is normal in bilingual schools in Thailand and public schools because all of these teachers are caucasians. So, parents of the students accept these teachers. You will also have a good chance in Ha Noi with language centers. Good luck 👍

Hello Sujoy, I'm really interested in teaching English in Vietnam and I was hoping you could share some insights. I've been following your channel for a while now and I love your content. I'm a male in my early forties, in good health, and a native English speaker with a degree and a TEFL certificate. I've taught in primary school classrooms in China for over a decade, in cities like Foshan, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, and Hong Kong. Your video interested me because you've brought up some discrimination concerns that I've also considered. As a half-Filipino English teacher with extensive experience, I'm wondering if I should be concerned about the pigmentation of my skin when looking for a job in Vietnam. While it didn't seem to be a major issue in China, I'm worried about potentially facing difficulties in Vietnam. I've always been passionate about teaching English and have a proven track record of success. I have the necessary paperwork and references to support my qualifications. Given your experience, I'd appreciate your advice on whether my concerns are justified and if there are any specific strategies I should consider when applying for jobs in Vietnam. Thanks so much for your time and help!

Hey there, it's great to connect with a fellow teacher. Now, I understand your case, but my question here is, why not continue teaching in China. The pay scale for teaching English in China is high compared to Vietnam. Yes, it does make sense, if you dislike teaching in China, and want to relocate to Vietnam. If you are a native teacher, then I don't think you will have any issues. I suggest checking out the schools in Ha Noi, like Language Link, etc. I wish you all the very best with your teaching journey in South East Asia. God Bless 🙏
