@@MaliceFairyPlays He means that he inherited the power of the Ancient Sage of Wind, which Teba didn't. Edit: but that is something established in TotK, not BotW. So if they wanted, the devs could have just swapped them.

These are some great points, however, I definitely believe that having Tulin be the sage would fit more in line with the other sages. Let me explain. With yunobo, riju, and sidon, we see them get character development in either botw, or totk (sidon and riju getting the most in totk, and yonobo in botw). However, with teba, he's already a defined character, he's responsible, loyal, and wants to help rito villiage as much as he can (like most other rito warriors i'd imagine). That, plus he's an adult with more adult like characteristics. One could say sidon or yunobo is too, but they still seem more child-like and more alive than teba personality wise. So having teba be a sage would be kinda boring and weird when put along the other characters. However, having tulin, someone who is also like the other sages when it comes to having more personality, being more child-like and having also a reason to want to help save hyrule (don't get me wrong, teba probably would to, but he seems more of the type to only want to save his home and doesn't really care what happens anywhere else) with link. This also brings me back to the character development thing I mentioned earlier, we see tulin develop as a character. He goes from thinking he can do everything himself and being irresponsible, to wanting to work as a team and help the other sages defeat the demon king with link. You just wouldn't get that with teba, since he's already grown, his personality is set in and he's going to be the way he is and probably not develop much as a character.
@shybie2798
@shybie2798 Ай бұрын
You have a fair point but here's where Teba can grow as a character "Only caring about his home" he can learn that Hyrule as a whole is his home. And holding more responsibility as a sage his eyes are open to the larger task at hand. Tulin is great I wont deny that, I just feel like Teba can also show that even older people can learn more as they age through life and see the bigger picture ya know?
@EvelynnVeryEpik
@EvelynnVeryEpik Ай бұрын
@@shybie2798 I suppose, but that would be difficult to achieve as teba is going to be less likely to want to help the other champions, we have seen that he prefers to work solo (via botw where he straight up says he wants to be alone when doing the vah medoh devine beast) and is not going to change his ways as easily as tulin is going to. Tulin sees link as his hero and actively wants to work with him and the fellow sages, where as teba only had link help him because link was the only one he deemed fit to help him. And to be honest, it would seem more like a revali repeat (with the whole working solo and rather doing everything himself, not the arrogant jerk part, tho I do see teba as having a high self esteem, just not to the extent of revali). In my opinion, I just see tulin as more compatible than teba.

OH. MY. GOD. Thank you so, so, so, so, soooooooooooooo much for this video! With Teba being my favourite character from the Wild Era (next to Naydra, Farosh and Dinraal), I went straight to Rito Village after leaving GSI, didn't even bother with Lookout Landing or the paraglider lmao (did go back tho cuz of the destroyed bridge leading up to the village). Aaand upon arriving there, my man doesn't get a single voice line, has about 2 minutes of dialogue and was then basically written out of the story for the rest of the game, with the exception of the Great Eagle Bow quest??? TotK had a ridiculous amount of problems and this is a very personal one, but it just ruined that part of the game for me ngl So yeah, thank you so much for this, glad someone understands lmao

I am currently working on a mod to the game, making Teba the Sage of Wind. Initially, Teba will be reluctant to leave the village due to his obligations as the elder, and therefore sends Harth on a mission to gather more information about the storm. Link is encouraged to meet Harth in the mountains. Link discovers that Harth has been badly injured by a group of bokoblins. (the same group that would have otherwise attacked Tulin). Harth's grave injuries cause Teba to realize the severity of the situation and motivates him to join Link on a quest to the center of the storm.

If I had a nickel for each feathered kid in a game developed by Monolithsoft that was a background NPC in their debut title but became a plot integral character for their debut game's direct sequal i'd have two nickels. Incredibly specific and weird, very surprised it happened twice. I am referring to both Tulin from BotW/TotK and Teelan from XC and XC: Future Connected.

Thank you for saying this. It’s what I’ve been saying for awhile and you stated it perfectly “Not a Tulin hater, just a disappointed Teba lover.” EXACTLY. My boy deserved far better 😭 Not only do they sub in Tulin, but they write out Teba. Like, I never saw Elder in his future so freaking soon. And they just gloss over the fact that his dream in BotW was to get strong enough to wield the Great Eagle Bow and then in TotK he’s using it (which we never get to see) and that was sweet, but then it’s cheapened in my opinion by him giving it to Tulin. It’s sweet that he does that and it’s adorable that he likes his son using the same weapon as him, butIT’S LAME. It cheapens Revali’s accomplishments, and cheapens Teba’s! By saying a 12-14 yr old can manage just as well? He’s not even big enough to shoot with his wings! Again, I love Tulin, I think he’s adorable, sweet, and his story is fine (rushed, but fine) but I just wish they’d put Teba in, or at least written it a bit differently.

Wow I just thought about his yesterday. Most people think Tulin has the best persona arc in totk. And tbf that might be true. But it's still pretty lackluster. If you look at the bigger scope, we have 3 generations.Revali, Teba and Tureli. Revali was a strong warrior, but an asshole as well. And it makes sense, his tribe is the second most militaristic tribe, behind only to the gerudo, but with a much more lax hierarchy and chain of command. Teba being the new leader, basically shows that being a war hero is a method of ending up as leader, whereas Gerudo seem to go magic powers and lineage route with it, besides also militay might. Revali was undoubtedly THE war hero in the pre-calamity time. Hell, even if the game isn't canon, we see him ruling over his tribe, on the very least during militar conflicts. This power and authority, given to him because of his strenght, basically made him a military general, and an egotistical asshole. Teba, on the contrary, while being decently strong, he is still unable to compare. He can't attack Vah Medoh on his own. And after understanding what happened with Revali and the other champions, he understands that strenght isn't always everything, he is more of a man (or bird) of the people. He is honest and humble (unlike "i WiLl OnLy ReCoGnIzE lOnK 100 yEaRs AfTeR mY dEaTh" ). Understands teamwork and that some people can be stronger than him. Tureli was a prodigy. In botw he was 90% head, basically an egg, and still had a mission about training to become stronger. In totk, when we first meet him, he is a few achievments away of becoming another Canneloni asshole . But being raised by Teba, on a shomewhat peaceful (between Botw and Totk)time, he is much more open and polite, despite being reckless and confident. In the end, when he becomes a sage, he is already WAY stronger than his father, easily on par or surpassing Ravioli (I heard in AoC Tureli managed to do as a BABY a Revali's gale, he is probably more of a Prodigy than revali). The arc is about the Rito tribe as a whole and their cultural development, rather than on an individual.

1. Why are you calling him Tureli? 2. I know you're calling him an asshole, but he's been my favorite champion for a while, and this comment made me realize what a complex character he is. Can you imagine being on top, famous, and all of a sudden some teenager comes in and is chosen as the hero? He honestly reminds me a lot of Groose, but his character didn't get enough time to redeem himself and be loved as much by the community.

@@cerealkilleryt My Bad, I played the spanish version and just talked about exactly the same point with a friend. In spanish Tulin is called Tureli (probably because in spanish Tulín kinda sounds like an euphemism, it isn't at all, but sounds like it would be), force of habit XD . I don't think Tulin*** nor Ravioli are assholes perse. I think they TURNED into assholes (Tureli way way less, he was only a bit of a bratty kid) because of their tribal hierarchy and culture. Revali is what Tulin would've become without Teba, strong,very socially unprepared, and rude. Teba's generation weren't brought up in all this pride as a tribe, and grew up instead in the shame of having lost to the calamity in spite of their powerful warrior.That's why Teba is much MUCH more honest and humil, but in return, he didn't leave in a time with enough warriors availible to train kids, and grew to be strong, simply not as strong as Revali. Peace came, and after Ganon was defeated, during the timeskip, Tulin (5th time I had to change a Tureli to tulin lmao), Teba and the older warriors healed and managed to have time to train their kiddos. Tulin just happens to be the only kid trained by a warriors not by a bard. In turn, Tureli is as strong (or stronger, because he can work in teams) as Revali, and as nice (after his bratty phase that lasts around 2 text boxes)as Teba.

@@daframo yeah, sorry if I came across as rude about the name lol. And I do see what you mean about him and Revali, but it just helps justify his attitude imo. I think he’s not a complete asshole, he just gets defensive because of how he was brought up.

@@cerealkilleryt Don't worry I always get the names wrong lmao. I get your point, that's what I was talking about, Revali WAS , an asshole, not because of nature but because of nurture. He ended up changing a bit, but it took hin death and 100 years of reflecting about his death to say one nice thing. He probably would've been as nice as Tureli had he been raised by Teba or someone less proud than Rito archers before the calamity, because they had a full monopoly of aerial combat.

As a Tulin stan, I see your point, and the most compelling argument I've heard against Teba becoming the sage is the fact that he is a full grown adult, and is already proven to be able to carry Link on his back. The developers probably just didn't want you to be able to use Teba, when the highlight of the game is being able to use Ultrahand.

I thought they decided to make Teba die since, I believe it's stated somewhere in BotW dialogue or maybe Creating a Champion, that the rito have relatively short lifespans Looking at it now, the reason Tulin was chosen over Teba surely has something to do with Nintendo's preference of character development
