@Wolfcat223 ай бұрын
There's some evidence that this might have originally been the case. Arvo was possibly going to have originally been Eddie from 400 days. Instead of collecting drugs for a family member he was just a junkie. This would have led to some drama breaking out between him and his old friend Wyatt when the group gets ambushed by Carver's former men at the end of episode 4. It's also likely that Mike was originally going to be one of the bandits who attacked Clem and Christa at the beginning - hence the bullet wound across his face.

1:09:27 Kenny's plan to go further North actually wasn't a bad one, for two reasons: One. Wellington was a real settlement and was relatively safe. Not only that, but they'll let Clementine come in. It's honestly the best ending for season 2. Kenny makes up for his shortcomings by letting her and AJ go, and his fate is left up in the air. Two. Because TWD game follows TWD comic rules. It never happens in the show since it's filmed in Georgia, but in the comic the colder of a Winter it is the slower and less threatening walkers become. Some of them freeze to death. So while it's harder to find food, it's significantly safer than being somewhere hot.
@willfanofmanyii37513 ай бұрын
...problem is they're traveling North in search of a place they don't even know exists. The place turning out to be real means nothing compared to how everyone else got killed for it. Clem being on her own makes far more sense for how she acts during Season 3, Clem's constantly saying she's been away from people for a long time and has trust issues kinda falls flat when she was still with Kenny a few months earlier. Clem and AJ's relationship is far more meaningful when it's just been the two of them.

Hot Take: Clementine should have an ending where she died in The Final Season. Her surviving no matter what was a MASSIVE cop out considering how it didn’t even work for Lee and his infection wasn’t even as advanced as her’s was.
@mattman29643 ай бұрын
I think Lee's was more advanced from what I remember. Lee was bit for about 2 hours before they decided to cut it off. Clementine was bit like for only like 20 mins before AJ cut off
@sirnetflix71623 ай бұрын
@@mattman2964 The only problem with that is timing is hardly relevant based on what they show us. Lee may have been bitten for longer, but he was a grown man. An infection isn't gonna take down a big guy as quickly compared to a 17 year old girl. Moreover, Lee was bitten with a surface level bite, Clementine's bite was literally inside of a gaping wound in her leg, which logically, would make the infection spread much easier. Not to mention how the wound would have been infected quickly, even if only a little bit of time had passed. Bear in mind, Lee was walking on his own perfectly fine and had only passed out once right then before having the choice to cut it off. And he's able to go on the entire DAY after that before actually succumbing to the infection. Clementine is infected for less than an hour and is already turning green and sickly and can't even move. Plus, she looked exactly like Lee did when he was dying on the floor, and cutting off anything at that stage certainly wouldn't have done anything in his case, so how the hell does it work for her?
@Akain7773 ай бұрын
I agree. I would have rather they not have had her bite at all. It really felt like a cheap way to get some emotional moment for the ending. @@Akain777 It's one of those things where I get WHY they did it, it would suck to go through the whole game series with Clementine just for her to fold at the end, but c'mon bruh. But... that's like what the Walking Dead is all about really. People die all the times, fan favorites (Glenn anyone?) can be taken out by anyone at anytime, and they act like the games are all realistic, but it had one of the most unrealistic endings of all time. Should have just been this: If you tell AJ to leave you, he should have and you die (or make it determined by your actions if he listens to you or not). That's it. @@sirnetflix7162 in defense of the writers, they at least had an explanation for clementine surviving. in s4, they say about an hour passes from clem getting bit to AJ chopping off her leg, whereas lee was passed out for several hours. also, they said that the fact that her leg was already split open and bleeding out means that her body was pushing out the infected blood, slowing down the process. i like the idea that she might’ve died in certain endings, but i do give them credit for planning it out and legitimizing how she survived because they didn’t think out some of the technical details in s2 and it’s very obvious

It should have totally been Kenny vs Luke instead of Kenny vs Jane, it's a repeated statement with this season but it really goes without saying. Kenny and Luke had a lot more banter on screen throughout story events and it would have made sense for Clem to look up to Luke as an older brother figure, than Jane who was all about "I wanna go alone, you should split up!" before bawling for you to stay with her if you chose to leave her; a complete 180 in character. I had heard rumors that the reason behind Luke getting out of the story so anti-climatically was due to shipping but I have yet to see sources that can back this: In the context of the story however? Yeah no, it just felt like the writers knew they messed up and had nothing else to do with him after Episode 3

Honestly, I tell people to skip Season 2 because of how pointless it all is when it comes to the story and just summarize it as "Clementine finds a group that all dies and she becomes the caretaker of one member's baby." Season 3 renders it all moot with the exception of introducing AJ. No characters come back or are mentioned (hell, even Alvin and Rebecca get reduced to a whole "they died a long time ago and it was sad" thing in Season 4, as well as Kenny getting a brief mention if you shot him). Even now, when I replay it, I actively choose to give characters their first deaths in the series because the later ones are always just comedically bad and the characters just get turned into living furniture throughout their subsequent appearances (Nick just laying around moping in In Harm's Way before dying off screen in Amid the Ruins, Sarah being catatonic and somehow falling under the deck that she was standing on top of when it fell, and Alvin being turned into a human punching bag that makes a dick joke towards Carver before he dies). Hell, I just straight up shoot Kenny in the fight and abandon Jane because those are better options and explain Clementine's behavior in Season 3 better than "oh no this community collapsed" or "welp my caretaker died."

I've never agreed with something more when you talked about how the ending should've been all of those main 6 characters alive. The biggest issue for me with seasons 3 and 4 is that they revolve around completely new characters which mostly just end up dying anyway or are quite bland/unlikable. Had we kept those 6 characters alive we could've had way more interesting character dynamics and plotlines, such as Jane's baby or Sarah's growth like you said, where we would've felt way more attached to the story due to the returning, actually likable characters. Maybe we could've played as Luke/Kenny/Jane for a season if they didn't always want Clementine to be the main POV or something. It's so unfortunate how dull the story becomes by the end. Great video!

I loved Luke and hated what they did to him. It made more sense for it to be Luke vs Kenny. Yes I know that Luke wouldn't have pulled what Jane did but I feel like the fight between Luke and Kenny would've been about something like Luke trying to talk to Kenny about him being unstable. I never forgave Rebecca for essentially telling an 11 year old child that they found alone to go die and I was mean to her every chance we got apart from when Alvin asked for the food since I actually liked Alvin. Also Jane as a character never really made sense and I hold the opinion that she could've easily been replaced by Molly from season 1. We could've met her at the Ski lodge with Kenny using the explanation that she saved him back in season 1 which makes more sense than Kenny just getting lucky. Or she could've tagged along with Clementine, Christa, and Omid and then we meet back up with her at Carver's where she could give us closure on Christa. Heck all the stealth missions that Clem had like stealing the walkie talkies and turning on the speakers could've been done by Molly and we could've played as her for those bits which makes more sense than everyone constantly putting missions on the 11 year old. Both Molly and Luke could've been the new mentor figures for the season. Molly and Clem could've easily had that sisterly bond and even Sarah since I could totally see her teaching both Clem and Sarah some of her moves. We could still have the part of her and Luke and her getting pregnant I feel would have a bigger impact than with Jane since Molly definitely has some trauma from Crawford not wanting kids. Unlike Jane, Molly was pretty damn smart like when she used the bells to lure the walkers.

The only negative thing I got to say about S3 is the brother cuckhold romance moments, Kate, how they kill off Ava or Tripp, how they killed off Mari, the way they kind of butchered Clementine’s character (she was honestly losing it on EP1 and I gotta admit, I didn’t even lie for her because what she did, literally broke Lee’s rules and teachings on how to use a gun, so I was not having it with that), and the episodes being VERY short.
@pathetic23992 ай бұрын
Ehhhh… nah. It’s not as bad as season 2, but it had issues and it’s not because you don’t play as Clem. They do with David what they tried to do with Kenny is Season 2, as in try to go out of their way to make him seem as unlikable as possible so you side against him, but then get wishy washy on it so at times it seems like you’re supposed to sympathize with him, but its difficult to, even moreso than Kenny in his worst moments. Gabe is awful and unlikable Clementine is annoying sometimes. I didn’t care for her writing in parts of the season Marianna gets killed off and it’s difficult to say whether her death really mattered or not or if it was mostly for shock value. David barely even cared and Kate and Gabe don’t dwell on it as much as they should. Heck, Javi hangs onto it longer than anyone The weird ass romancing your brothers wife subplot that they try to force on you even if you don’t bite Kate in general, especially in the romance subplot since she genuinely makes you wonder if she ever loved David at any point in their marriage or if she just married him to get at you. Although I also find her unlikeable in general. Eleanor not being a romance option because they’re trying to force Kate on you even though she was seemingly set up to be; also the implication that being able to romance her would cuck Tripp. Makes you wonder why both romance teasings in this game are like that. Does the writer have a fetish Joan and the dude that killed Mariana are generically evil and not compelling at all. That may not even be all you get the gist of it. Better writing and more realisitic characters in season 3 but its by no means perfect.
@AnakinSkywalker-u5bАй бұрын
While some of that is true, Season 3 is barely decent as far as writing goes. Being better than garbage like Season 2 doesn't wash away all it's problems. Such as annoying characters (Gabe & Kate) cartoonishly evil villains, which i suppose is par for the course when it comes to the shitty TWD comic universe, and it's fair share of bad writing.

I really hate how this season really was the death of decently written female characters in this series, the moment we lose Christa every story relevant woman we meet is either incompetent and obnoxious, simply exists to die or both, this trend continues in season 3 (barring clementine of course) and even season 4 which can at least be excused with them being children but it doesn’t remove the fact that they’re so frustrating to watch. Season one had wonderfully written women with actual motivations, interesting personalities, reasonable reactions to struggle and failure (except lily) and fucking chemistry with other characters that didn’t explicitly rely on there being romantic feelings involved, and the best part is that when the stress gets too much for them and they start breaking down it still serves to inform their character and make the story more interesting whereas in every season after 1 they use “stress” as an excuse to have them create convoluted plans specifically tailored to fuck over the main characters and inevitably leads to someone’s completely avoidable death. Not to say the men are much better but Lee set the bar so high even in season 1 that I can’t say I expected anyone after him to match up even close, ironically the only one who dared approach being as compelling or worth remembering is AJ who pretty much embodies every problem with post season 1 survivors, the difference between him and they rest of them tho is that his acting out and general stupidity is warranted because he’s like 6 yet he still develops into his own person with understandable perspectives and a reasonable attitude unlike all the grown ass adults & parents from season past

The fandom around him can be super frustrating, with so many people obviously identifying with him and actually being real creeps who identify personally with his worst traits. But he does have his good sides, and yes, his genuine fatherly side is deserving of appreciation. Its the goddamned apocalypse, and the part of him that genuinely wants children to be okay never died. Even when he's in such a blind rage that he blames Clementine for the death of his partner, he still can't not see her as a little girl, and that's something important. The meaning of society and humanity really would break down in situations like that- both general apocalypses and in personal crises, but that's a virtue in him that, no matter his flaws, pressures and circumstances, doesn't ever really break.

The Kenny vs Jane setup was so insane I cant imagine what they were thinking, anyone who appreciates kids would jump a bitch who left a baby to die but they want us to think Kenny crossed a line for doing that. The final group should have been like you said, Clem, Sarah and AJ, Kenny´s character reaches its peak last season by sparing Ben, by saving a Boy from the pain when he couldnt save Shawn or his own son, now that he lives him ending up looking after a trio of kids would be perfect. It should have been Luke vs Kenny, a brother who sees you as an equal or a father who will protect you, it could at least make it part of the theme that some adults treat you like a grown up and others dont, Clem decides if she is ready to grow up or hold onto her childhood a litle longer, Sarah should have gone trough this arc herself too. And to be honest despite Kenny having been an asshole during your playthrough, most people stick with him so he is mostly nice to the player, and the bad part of Kenny as a character is just that, if you are with him at everything he will be a good person, but if you don't he will just be an asshole, which honestly makes no sense because cmon, it's basically 2 different characters, as for me I obviously prefer the caring Kenny, luckily I got him be that way even after not always agreeing with him, but yeah it sucks that Kenny doesn't have an "established" character during the games.

It's odd how they seem to just assume you'll have Clem abandon everyone she could save.

Honestly, I'd like to see some kind of rewrite of the story from season 2 and onward. I've always agreed that Clem, Sarah, and AJ should've been the ones to make it out alive, but I never once considered Jane, Kenny and Luke too. It's mostly because I knew Telltale wanted Kenny vs Luke to be the finale and considering what we got instead I'd rather have that as an outcome. But thinking on it now, I wonder how the whole of the story would play out if Clem did have a primary group going from season to season instead of everyone around her either leaving or dying.(Or her leaving them) Those six as the main group of the series could've be something special. Like you said, Kenny calming down, Luke and Jane settling together, and Sarah getting the growth she deserved would've been a sight to behold.

A lot of the people that worked on season 1 left in the middle of working on season 2 leaving another group of writers to write it

Im starting to realize how much these characters pissed me off after watching your video. Before I had some sort of nostalgia for the “good” parts of this season. But now I realize there are none with how much logic is just thrown out the window with this season. The part where Luke says “we can’t just wait here until they run out of ammo” really knocked my nostalgia glasses off lol. Good video homie! Keep em comin.

The amount of times i had to get up my seat and walk around my room everytime the group did something stupid during this video is INSANE. HOW THE HELL DID I THOUGHT THESE PEOPLE WERE REMOTELY SANE WHEN I PLAYED THIS

People saying "it should've been Kenny-v-Luke" is because it was originally planned. The reason for it was stupid as well, but it actually contributed to the "Kenny's crazy" thing better (still bad tho). Also want to point out how much better the writing is on Kenny's ending compared to Jane's. If Kenny kills Jane you actually get an emotional ending whether you choose to go alone or stay with him after the fight. Meanhwile Jane's ending suck ass so much that the very last choice doesn't even matter at all (you get 1 different line from it) and if you choose to leave her the entire scene is really stupid: The entire scene is her begging Clem not to leave her. Like you're a fucking adult, why tf are you letting an 11 yo with a newborn just walk away from you?

I felt a major disconnect when I played the game for the first time cause I hated the idea of going to a colder place. Like so what if the walkers are slower? Most of the time it's the number or surprise of them that matters way more than the speed, plus you run higher risks of illness, exposure, lack of forageable resources, and more dangerous icy terrain. I wished I could've just argued against going north lol

Facts unless you have a working car walking into snow with no heat and food is dumb

@@andrebryant5081Driving in snow and very low temperature areas is really dumb also. Your car is more prone to dead battery or engine.
