Well because now you can say that Megan Fox voiced the character, thats why! She did it really, really, really bad, as bad as her boyfriend is at being a musician. BUT you can still say that Megan Fox voice acted.. tried voice acting.. or pretended at voice acting in this game! It's kind of like when you live in a fantasy world, and you want to start an adventurer party, for the wizard you pick the biggest muscle head kind of dude that has nothing to do with magic and who probably doesn't like magic either. Then you go to your friends, and you show them how you made the big muscle guy cast a spell. A terrible, ineffective spell, but still a spell! Never force someone who doesn't fit a role, into that very role. (like.. duh!)

I think that they just put the effort into the wrong things and that the game was very obviously rushed to release in 2023. Like the crazy graphics that.. don't even look better than MK11 (can only judge the PC version) The crazy face expressions and stuff that.. I probably appreciated 1 time and thats it. The supposedly very "intricate" Invasions mode that is.. actually really annoying to play which is why I only played like 3 seasons and didn't have a lot of fun most of the time. The roster feels kind of lackluster too, even though there are a lot of interesting characters on it, its such a weird game man.. I just feel like they didn't concentrate on the right things, the game isn't fun, it kind of takes you away from the fun and even the kameo characters aren't fun (at least to me) they look fun when someone else is playing it, but they aren't fun, kinda like the game.

Sick of people saying they nailed the story in the first half. They rehashed long overdone character arcs (Johnny Cage) and removed pretty much all the stakes (the tournament) and fucked the characters hard (Scorpion). Like, if it hadn't been a multiverse thing, what could have realistically happened? Honestly? The story couldn't work unless Liu Kang went down the same path as Kronika.

But then you have another problem: Liu kang. Given powerscaling inconsistencies in mk11 and how they basically made liu op as fuck now (despite just being god), him supposedly have titan powers would basically just make him unstoppable if we are genuinely were to make a competent villain (which is what realistically would have happen with kronika and the plot would not even last 10 minutes). The problem is how they wanted to blow their load early. It seems that most likely every option seem to fail, now looking back at the story now continuing off 11. It mean it was already fucked that they literally ignore their own canon rules by the fact kronika literally erased the fucking timeline WITH THE CROWN and then somehow being able to all of a sudden somehow go into said erased timeline to continue the story lol. It was already bad enough that you had the big kahns and an elder god get bossed around by the edenian females, with mileena now continuing this trend and people making fucking ton of criticisms about it. Making liu going dark will be just invite even more criticism of how NRS handle their villains lol But regardless of what opinion of how mk1 was good or bad in the first half, I think we can objectively agree that with khaos reigns in the picture, the whole story is just fucking horrible like with 11 and X and to an extent, 9

I don't think it *needs* those stakes is the thing. The personal stakes of the character is what matters to me. However, the main stake would be Shao Kahn's rebellion and Sindel's wish for peace. Everything that is happening could still happen, just cut out titan shang tsung.

Yeah I like the way its incorporated into invincible. Only one character has access to the multiverse and when he's not around its not an issue. Stories like Mortal Kombats recent entries leave multiverse and time travel open to an uncontrollable degree leading to many pothole's and possibilities that eventually lead to a universe reset. I don't know what they have against regular stories. This one was so solid till the ending.

The reason Johnny cage is so broken is because of his frame data. He just has THE best mid attack in the game. It’s extremely spamable too, so pro players will get u in a corner and stagger the combo 2-3 times uncontested. And if u, the defender, tries to interrupt the stagger. I'm so confused why Liu Kang, God of Fire and Thunder, the creator of the Universe, the once Champion of Earthrealm who has beaten realm conquering tyrants and time controlling titans, potentially can be weaker than Tanya, Havik, or Nitara. By this point im gonna be honest writers just use multiverse or time travel shenanigans as an excuse for shitty writing. "Oh god Raiden's dead, well here's a new Raiden from an alternate timeline or we prevented Sonya's death but that caused a rip in time causing the creation of a whole new timeline". Its the writers reset button to bring back characters people like or they made there story overcomplicated and Mortal Kombat has no real consequences at all anymore. I remember in the original timeline when Liu kang got jumped by the Deadly Alliance leading to his literal death and zombie form. An there was no way around such a pivotal moment like that in the series and writers moved forward without pulling some multiverse ass pull and make plotholes. Im willing to give MK9 a pass as its a soft reboot of the series so fine, but for them to bring back timetravel/multiverse stuff 2 games after MK9 was disappointing. As the ending of MKX had me intrigued on Dark Raiden, Liu Kang and Kitana as rulers of Netherrealm, and the ramification of Kotal Kahn invasion of earth realm.

Liu Kang didn't make Raiden the chosen one he made Johnny, Kenshi, Kung Lao, and Raiden compete for it, and since this is Raiden's chapter he wins in fact if you lose the fight with Kung Lao it says that he ends up becoming the champion instead of Raiden. I just wish the chapter system was less limiting because it would have been cool if you got to choose between the four and whoever you choose becomes champion and fights in the tournament or instead of losing a fight means you lost and have to try again it can sometimes mean you continue the story but you just get a different outcome like losing the fight with Kung Lao mean that you play as him in the tournament instead of Raiden. Reptile and Baraka were not really bad guys though they just, unfortunately, unfortunately worked for the bad guys all Reptile wanted to do was bring back his dead race and since he was promised it by Shang Tsung and Shoa he followed their lead even though little known to him they never intend on bringing back the extinct Zaterrans and when he worked for Kotal in MK X he just followed him because it was better than following Mileena and since the Zaterrans are not extinct in this time-line Reptile has no reason to follow anyone anymore and Baraka was just another Tarkatan under Shoa's control since shao is no longer a ruler Baraka and the other Tarkatan's have no reason to follow him as soon in MK 11 where he joins Kitana and the others after the defeat of Shao. But Liu Kang Make People good and even if he could he wouldn't want to because he wanted people to be free and able to make their own choices as stated in the games intro whether or not a character is good or evil or natural is based on their actions or situation like Shao in this game he didn't actually become evil until this time-line Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi plants the idea in his head that he should be Outworlds ruler, That Sindel is a incompetent leader and that Liu Kang is trying to conquer Outworld because all Shao wants to do is protect Outworld if Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi didn't fill his head with these thoughts we probably would been a good guy yha he didn't like Earthrealmers but that is probably because of Quan-chi's fake prophecy yha and yha Liu Kang could have just not have him exist in his time-line (in fact I originally wondered why he brought him back until I realized) he wanted to give the villans a chance at redemption (like they say villans aren't born their made) also it fits his Character Liu Kang is a very forgiving and peaceful character (he forgave Kitana for trying to assainate him in MK9 and he continued to have faith in Raiden after finding out he was the cost of his death in MK11). BTW I 100% agree with you about this game having a flawed story as a long-time MK fan I just don't think this part of it is.

I get that to some people bigger is better, and they always want to up the ante, but at some point, all that bloat just becomes meaningless. Why not tell a smaller scale story where the individual arcs of the characters are meaningful and longlasting rather than spend a whole game setting up a new status quo only to throw it all in the trash at the last second and start over for no reason for the third time. This is a misconception, there is no actual proof she is supposed to be Bo’Rai’Cho. Bo’Rai’Cho is his full name. “Bo” is a family name, and a fairly common one at that. She’s also Sektor’s mother, associated with the Lin Kuei, and happened to train Raiden and Kung Lao, but there isn’t any definitive evidence that she is a genderbent Bo’Rai’Cho

(KHAOS REIGNS SPOILERS if you care) What I’ve really noticed as someone who only really cares for the story is that there’s no depth the characters are so one dimensional, characters who should be more thoughtful are reduce to one emotion/flaw or the most basic plot lines ever. As someone who didn’t grow up, hell I wasn’t even conceived during mk’s “golden era” the old lore still interested me i was excited to see how they would adapt that but no nothing. Kuai Liang’s and bi-Han’s story interested me because THEY WERE BROTHERS (from old lore kidnapped from their mother) hell even with the new(now old) lore so much could have been done. Forced against each other and bi-Han became something inhuman but kuai still had hope and a want to help him (mk11 butchered that) Now? Their rivarely is so one dimensional you don’t see the connection they had to justify the hurt. ALSO HOW ARE THEY GOING TO HAVE A WHOLE LIN KUAI CHAPTER (khans reigns) BUT NO SMOKE??? And they could’ve expanded the smoke/scorpion brotherhood as they ended it in mk1 but nope nothing. Also if they wouldn’t have the sektor/Bihan Romane if sektor was a man why have it at all. Again leaves it very one-dimensional and doesn’t let sektor be her own character and expand on WHY she’s doing all of this just reduces it to “LIN KUEI, BI-HAN’s GIRL”. If they had expanded on her ambitions more THEN revealed the romance would’ve been so much better. And I hate how Harumi was reduced to “kuai look at me 🥺” LET HER BE A CHARACTER LIKE SHE GETS TO LIVE IN THIS TIMELINE???? they could’ve had her have flashbacks of her death from other timelines due the fragility of the barriers and make her paranoid and agggresive being overly protective and irrational. It would give her some justice after being killed for someone’s story a million times 💀. Also the scorpion and bihan rivalry doesn’t rlly work if they’re brothers to me. There’s so much pain and easily buildable hatred to a stranger who destroyed your life. You don’t have a connection to them so you can vilify them as much as you want which can so easily lead to scorpions unending thirst for revenge. But also you don’t know much of that persons family/occupation or who’s behind them. So the unknowing consequences hitting them like a brick hits so much harder than if that were a family member because you KNOW who they fuck with. And what the consequences are, the multiverse shit takes that time and attention away from character depth and I have no idea why they did that. They could’ve expanded the stories and stretched it to more games, like I wanted time to enjoy and learn about the new timeline. LIKE THEY HAD STORYLINES SET UP?? /mileena and shoa storyline/scorpion vs bihan/kenshi and yazuka/ or included new stuff like the red/black dragon. We did not need the multiverse stuff if they still wanted it, it could have happened after that or hit the next generation so the og characters get their happy ending but the new generation have to deal with the consequences of what happened before.I have more to say but this is a YT comment
