Nah, there are like a million western companies in China, only Tesla has actually gotten the special "no need for local partnership" treatment, I think ppl don't give Elon Musk enough credit. Also @Redmenticore, just in case you dont know, Chinese EV brands already have been dominating the local market long before Tesla gigafactory, and China owns 2x more EV related patents than the US, BYD provides better product than Tesla at a cheaper pricing point. "Chinese steal our tech" was def true 20 years ago, it was still sorta true 10 years ago, nowadays only an ignorant fool would still think a country with the most STEM graduates in the world somehow can't innovate.

Why Amazon failed is as Cindy said. It failed to innovate and it was no different from already exisiting e-commerce platforms. It offered no incentive for Chinese businesses. Tesla, on the other hand, is a brand that the Chinese would definitely flock to. China is the biggest EV consumer in the world and is an expert in manufacturing. Sure, China has far more EV brands than anywhere else in the world, but right now, Tesla is the best brand for EVs but Amazon is simply not in China.

Correction: breaking into the Chinese market is only beneficial for a company in the short term, with devastating long-term consequences. China steals and rips off all technology, then sells cheap rip-offs that kill the original company. It's baffling that companies never learn after 100s of cases.

I think China sees Tesla like this: The bigger Tesla gets and the more the world needs EV's and solar panels, the better for China, because they control a great majority of those supply chains. They own most of the solar panel production, rare earth metal mining and refining as well as other elements needed in EVs, especially battery technology. Electric motors require these materials and wind turbines require these materials for their magnets. Secondly they want Tesla to be in China so they can have better access to their technology to steal, reverse-engineer and learn from their tech. They want the jobs the factory produces, they want the GDP growth. They also don't mind that Chinese people want good cars and Tesla is the best. The last thing is of course that they want to have leverage against the worlds richest man, one of the most important people on the planet and the most important company in the world. With a factory and business there, they can force Elon or Tesla to do certain things, say certain things. They can also influence him without force by talking with him. The recent interview on Financial Times was proof of that. He mirrors the CCP's talking points about Taiwan. That is not something Elon would come up with or think or say unless he had been talking with Chinese officials who convinced him on that issue. He is wrong of course, even if his aim is to reduce the probability of World War 3 and the end of the world, if Taiwan ever becomes part of China, that is not going to prevent the US and China from going to war. It might actually embolden China and it will have such a stranglehold on advanced chip manufacturing after that that the rest of the world will not sit idly by. And Elon sees China as a great engineering, manufacturing powerhouse, a pragmatic nation with immense potential. Not just business-wise, but in general. He also knows China has to be on board with the transition to sustainable energy or it's all for nothing. They more than anyone need to become carbon neutral. He knows the CCP is evil but he understands he can't piss them off if he wants to accelerate the world to sustainable energy fast. Elon doesn't just want them to be happy because of profits, but for the future of humanity. He is ethically sound so there is zero chance that he doesn't care about what the CCP is doing to the Uighurs and to the Chinese people in general. It's just that he is thinking about the bigger picture.

Sadly the war in Ukraine now shows that renewable energies (except nuclear powers) are a joke and looks like the political weapons of Western to developing countries to not allow them to growth and overtake them. And even nuclear powers cannot synthesize plastics and chemicals for goods production. Also it cracked Elon, first is suggestion to Ukraine, then Taiwan, then he constantly disrupt Starlinks at Kherson when Ukrainians are making offensive here, later shut it down and blame US's Department of Defense for not paid the fee. I think he return with the deal of Twitter in the act to censored every news from Ukraine so he can reach his hand to those nickels in Russia - without those he cannot make batteries for cars.
@lawrencefrost9063
@lawrencefrost9063 2 жыл бұрын
@@superspies32 I think you, along with so many others, are reading his intentions wrong. Think about his logic and ethics and goals if you want to understand WHY he was suggesting that peace deal with Ukraine/Russia, and WHY he was suggesting that Taiwan could become a special economic zone for China. It's really fucking simple but people don't seem to understand this simple thing; He wants to avoid WORLD WAR 3 AND THE END OF HUMAN CIVILIZATION NO MATTER WHAT. He thinks this war with Ukraine or the future war with China will most likely lead to nuclear war and that will lead to a nuclear winter that will decimate mankind. This is something that he thinks we ought to avoid no matter what. Even if it sucks to give Russia Crimea, or even if it REALLY sucks to give in to China's claims on Taiwan, he thinks it's BETTER than the apocalypse. THAT'S ALL. It's not difficult to understand his reasoning considering he is all about the big picture and large scale long term future of humanity. I hope you understand this, even if you disagree with it (I do) you should steelman his arguments not strawman them. Now to your other points; he didn't disrupt starlink service in Kherson intentionally, if you read about it (from the Ukrainian ministers themselves) it was more complicated than that. Secondly he NEVER shut it down. He complained that it is costing the company a lot of money and that the company can't keep paying for it indefinitely. The Ukrainian government requested the starlink system back when the war started. Elon obliged and delivered. (even thought Elon had previously stated that it should never be used for war!) 7 months later, Space X has accrued 100 million in costs and still going, Elon is the richest man in the world but his companies have to be profitable for him to stay rich. Space X is in a tight spot at the moment. As long as the Starship project has not come into fruition they are losing money and fast (even without the Starlink in Ukraine!) Elon sent the company an email about this not too long ago, you can google it. But in the end he just said to hell with it, Space X will keep paying for Ukraine's Starlink system, they will keep doing it for free. And yet there are thousands if not millions of people who STILL complain and bemoan him. Give him a break.

Looks about his "suggestion" for the war in Ukraine (TLDR: give Russia UN's confirmation and approvement for the annexation, while force Ukraine to give up annexed territory and must unconditionally supply water for Crimea), then later he shut down Starlink in Ukraine right when they begin the assault in Kherson. Elon is going to cracked and doomed if this war prolonged for another year, no chips, no critical materials (like Nickel for the battery which Russia sell with cheap prize) + leftards continuously harrass Tesla and SpaceX Starship = completely bankrupt. I think he returned to bought Twitter as the act for trying to censored everything from Ukraine so he can gained Putin's favor to get his hand to Nickel.

@@superspies32 From what I know He said that only Crimea should be RU. He didn't shut down Starlink in UA. Starlink is blocked at places where UA parts are occupied by RU. Bc UA liberated sometimes some places too quickly and SpaceX doesn't talk directly to UA army SpaceX cannot unblock those loc. when UA moves there quickly enough. SpaceX communicate with middle man to the UA army. I do not understand the relevance between "Elon is going to cracked and doomed" and "no chips, no critical materials". If that happens why no chips? RU make those? Dont think so. Even if so other companies would be in trouble also. On the material side there might be a problem (as for others). What "leftards" have to do with possible Tesla SpaceX bankrupt you suggest? Where did you came up with this theory? Care to explain? Twitter take over started way earlier than now. Also if he take over it we know what to expect. If he does what he said, we will know about any single manipulation with people's content on Twitter. If he will not do it then even if he would not censor any content it wouldn't be visible so it would still be fail and we wouldn't like it = even more lose our trust.

@@patriksteffan2060 SpaceX is not a company that make profit normally like others. Its a company that mostly gain money through contracts with NASA because Starlink still not popular enough (and Elon even said when it is popular, he will separate it from SpaceX). So the 15% of the fee that no one take for Services in Ukraine will be SpaceX’s responsibility. For a long time this will slowly chew away company’s funding, its very critical since Starship take highest priority. Also let Ukraine use free and they said N words to him right after his post about Ukraine, in diplomacy this action is prohibited, even though his post is very offensive to Ukrainians, do it and one day disasters can happened. About why I said he need China’s favor, US just announce new sanction against chip production to China. Now US and ally companies are restricted to export chips to China, Joe Biden threatens chip experts to strip away their US citizenship if they choose to work in China so many of them have to leave China immediately. Elon only have 1 megafactory in China that can capable to mass production Tesla car and its also overloaded with orders up to 2 years in waiting. Without chips, no Tesla car. But leave China, Elon will face against millions of lawsuit from customers for not deliver cars since his factory in US cannot match up with the huge amount of orders right now. Elon saw this and tried to build the second megafactory in Germany. However, the construction still not begin after 5 years because leftards continuously harass the construction sites with the reason is that Elon is destroying “wildlife habitat”, to the point Elon frustrated Germany governments (to the point they force entire construction delayed through winter because just a snake in hibernation). The same for Starship, he have to fight for years to get FAA approval to launch because leftards protests to FAA, claiming that the vessel’s fuel (liquid methane and LOX) is toxic (but even the idiot know that methane burn with oxygen release CO2 and water - much cleaner than space shuttle which also release sulfur compounds). About the Twitter, he announce that its not because he wanted to buy it. Elon had some “original” shares in Tesla that can be sold now according to the contract when he bough Tesla or later. Thanks to the price of Tesla share was bubbled (have price more than its reality price), those shares valued 30b USD. But if he sold them without any good reasons, he will drop down the share price and trigger investors to panic sold to salvage their money. Buying Twitt was the legal reason to persuade investors to not panic sell their shares. After he sold that he announced about delay and bring the trading to court since Twitt hide him about bots. In fact, he can just spend 1b USD to cancel the trading according to contract but he does not or he have some other business need to be done with Twitt.

@@superspies32 This is a too long comment to fully answer but I will say this. I bet that most of SpaceX money is from gov contracts for launches. I don't know about 15% fee service for UA. SpaceX funding in regards to UA surely has an impact on SpaceX financials. I know that there is some USvChina trade war. I also heard something about chip fight. This is the first time I read that this could mean that for Tesla it would mean they would not be able to use advanced chips in their factory in China. If true then that would be very alarming. 2 years in waiting? From what I know they are now only a few months of wait times (rn for TM3 it shows 4-8 weeks). German factory has nothing to do with China in that meaning. Tesla wants to have factories on each continent. It's idiotic to ship cars at those distances. What construction didn't begin even after 5 years? Giga Berlin began +-3 years ago and it's already working (true it still looks like a construction site). I know about some delays that were made there bc the reasons you mentioned. I hadn't that many problems with the snake or bat issues but what made me worked up was the "unauthorized" tank for some chemicals etc... I know about the delays with FAA approval. Not much got to me so my stand is that I understood Elon frustration but also I was like: "I know nothing about it so if an objective gov. entity feels they have to proper review it so they do not do something wrong you have my support in doing so bc it's your job" - I'm trying to be objective in regard of him and his companies - not full fan mode, etc. Twitter is whole another topic I will not continue to express myself on. I already wrote too much of it :)
