Thank God JB convinced Elon to abandon battery hot-swaps, which were always a terrible idea and a disaster waiting to happen, despite the fact that some others (notably the Chinese company NIO) are doubling down on it. A normal EV battery sits on the FLOOR of the car, INSIDE the structure, securely fastened and sealed from the outside environment. But a swappable battery is just HANGING UNDERNEATH, on the OUTSIDE of the car, held in place by a few bolts/screws, exposed to the elements. A half-ton projectile hanging on by its fingernails to the bottom of the car. But it gets worse because it doesn’t merely hang there. It’s attached/detached, fastened/unfastened repeatedly. This is the opposite of secure. It is precarious BY DESIGN because the hot-swap process needs quick and easy access to the battery. If hot-swappable EV batteries become popular, it is inevitable that, sooner or later, a battery will simply fall off a car on the highway and cause a fatal 20-car pileup due to negligence, incompetence, or fraud.

Elon is the person behind Tesla's success. JB was Great guy, but Elon was the driver. Elon started many successful companies, JB had no other companies under his belt, this says a lot about who is really responsible for the companies success. Elon makes people feel inadequate so they like to minimise his achievements. They need to be bigger people and applaud his amazing achievements.
