Yes, I had been traveled to Thailand for several time, especially to Bangkok around city central and Sukhumvit area, only once to Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Hua Hin the latest time this year. Phuket, and Hua Hin are good for those who like water activities and hiking there but not for those who non-swimmer/dislike water activities

nice video agree on ur opinion, especially accessibility and well developed tourism infrastructure and the most important things goverment willingness and priority for tourism Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines got almost what u mentioned but in accessibility and tourism infrastructure, still behind thai, the thai realize the earliest that tourism industry is very big industry and they got they big chunk 1st :) hopefully after the spain can attract 85 million foreign tourist in 1 year, South East Asia can attract more tourist too :)

Just the intro already saying why Thailand is winning. If one want to go somewhere leaving same western medieval style building and concrete forest for that been living in for ages to visit somewhere safe in Asia. Then Thailand is the top choice and it represented whole Asia as a whole. There is Japan of course but Japan oftening very safe and city life style but they still not as welcoming as Thailand outside of main major City. China would be too much trouble as well and you should know why then Thailand is very much only choice there is. There also pricing of goods despite Japan is improving for tourism but one would find it lacking other activity or hard to get into as foreigner. Of corse some people don't have issue with pricing and would prefer Japan more too but both place are exotic for sure.

Tourism absolutely yes - but Thailand is not the place to retire anymore. Great to visit or live and work here, but not for retirees. Starting 1 Jan 2024 Thailand now taxes the income of retired Expats (including Pensions), if you live in Thailand 180 days or more in a year, while all the other countries in SEAsia do not. Hopefully Thailand will change their mind, but as it is now, starting on Jan 2025 Expats have been told to pay income taxes on the money they brought to Thailand from 1 Jan 2024 onwards. Thailand also wants to implement worldwide taxation, so even if you dont remit the money to Thailand they want to tax it . No matter how good their Visas are or the country is - for retired Expats Thailand is not the best option (we are leaving).
