Definitely prefer the people in the shot. I also like that the people are about the same size as the bird. It puts them on an equal footing of sorts. Also, I focused first on the people before being blown away by the bird and shadow. The human figures provide great balance and help make the desert itself the main character of this wonderful image.

Waw! Looks like a scene from Frank Herbert's book "Dune". I would most certainly leave the people in. It gives more depth and soul to the picture, especially with the bird, fleeing the scene, leaving an elongated shadow...

My first thought was that I would have cloned the people out of the photo because I almost never want people in my photos, but your point about the effect they have of giving scale to the image is good. Now I could go either way. It is a beautiful image whatever choice you make. Enjoyed the video.

Love that openingsequence... the image @ 2:38 is like an ice cream in the middle of a chocolate wafer sandwich... fabulous. The image at 11:05 though is just magical... stunning. Until you showed the image without them in I would have said leave it.. but just the bird alone gives it no distraction between foreground and background - your eyes keep going between both with it in. atb

Wow.. The image with the people on the peak and the bird with shadow.. Stopped me in my tracks.. Definitely works for me having the people giving scale and mystery... Really has made me think to sit on my camera in the composition more and see what will happen for elements to add to the scene.. But did you have to change stutter speeds to freeze the bird with higher iso etc obviously you couldnt track the bird with focus.. So inspiring.. This image blew me away.. One day i will get an image with a tenth of the power of this i would be happy..

I follow a number of photographers and you’re one of the very few that focuses…pun not intended…on light, on contrasts, and on abstracts/designs in nature. You shoot at all times during the day; in the morning, at noon, and in the middle of the night and don’t seem to overly emphasize “the light”, “the blue light”, or whatever metaphor is popular. I really can’t think of another photographer who is as well-rounded as you are and I thank you. Keep up the excellent work!!

like the one with people. it anchors the eyes, also people and the bird positioned diagonally, it draws a invisible line. It fits the mood/atmosphere beautifully with the dust in the air. Excellently captured. Great image.
