Currently running a AT2035 i managed to snag for 60 bucks. Think that was a great deal, but the blue ember really does punch above its weight class

Grab the Baby Blue Bottle if you can. Fantastic mic! Very rare to find warm/dark condenser mics that pricepoint. It's in the same vein of mics like Warm 47Jr.

Both are fantastic mics. Totally different purposes. Sm57 OR SEV7 are great dynamics at the same price too.

Can you test out the AKG P420 with the relatively easy capacitor mod? People said its better value than the baifeilis and slightly comparable to the U87

sound is low on my blue baby bottle mic have to turn the gain all the way up blue ember is better in my opinion less gain brighter sound crispy clean

The gain issue might be true. It might require more gain. As for brighter or warmer/darker, it's a matter of preference.
