Sacramento is the 20th largest media market. It’s the largest market without NFL, MLB, NHL, OR MLS. POPULATION OF Sacramento MSA 2.4 million people which includes Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado Counties. Population within 1 hour of the Capitol dome or Airport is approximately 6 million. That obviously includes San Joaquin County, Solano, Contra Costa. But Sacramento would likely be able to claim the A’s former territory. Sacramento can definitely put fans in the seats or fill sports bars. Maybe Vivek and Lacob can purchase the A’s or going in with Fisher to keep the A’s in Northern California and I don’t mean Oakland as Northern California. The truth is, there is not a plurality of Sacramento people that would allow our City and County to help build an indoor stadium. In the first place, we aren’t the type of city that would want a dome. We watch Soccer in the heat, we dine all over town in the heat, we boat in the heat. West Sacramento was chosen to be a caretaker field for the A’s 72 miles from Oakland. You would think the complainers and whiners would start packing Oakland City Hall, to bring attention to the cause. Oakland though isn’t a big city and the county doesn’t seem inclined to assist with helping to finance a new A’s stadium So while Sacramento could very well make itself the most viable and attractive market without its own MLB team. It won’t do it if it means ignoring other priorities.
