The first to go Light Division Pace was The Oxfordshire Light Infantry in the Crimean War, I was a Rifleman in 5th Royal Green Jackets. Swift and Bold.

The Cameronians Scottish Rifles also had a very quick march.....too bad they were disbanded 1968. They had a Military Band, Pipes & Drums and a few Buglers.

I am very confident that ex Light Division buglers from the 70, s 80, s and 90, s and as long as they are being objective, would not be pleased at all with today's standards of bugling (or beard growing).

Symbolises a feather dipped in blood. Part of the regiment slaughtered some americans and soaked the feathers they wore to mark themselves as the ones who did it so other regiments wouldn't be blamed.

I strongly believe beards should never have been approved. (Except for medical or religious grounds as it use to be). Also, what's happened to the yearly CFT? It seems to have vanished or the standards are low... really low
@Joe90V
@Joe90V Ай бұрын
Part of me agrees with you, but then everything changes and these servicemen will be as effective as previous lots when called on. Also I remember the "blanket stackers" of 50 years ago, those who couldn't pass a BFT if their lives depended on it, or were alcoholics or permanent sick-notes 🤣 Plus these days, soldiers can fight from behind a video screen 🤷‍♂
@BigAlsLittleKingdom

@@Joe90V i wonder if their Respirators fit as snug as mine did, i doubt it. Therefore, useless in any kind of chemical warfare. The war in Ukraine is "boots on the ground", so unless we fight Skynet... you can be sure those out of shape soldiers will not be as effective

@@JammyDodger45Beards have been banned since when the British Army has been most relevant in world affairs, and the world wars. Things are bad when the yanks look more squared away than us.
