Hey Andrew! I want to point out a very important topic here about CRF300L/Rally - It's a huge development platform if you own a bigger enduro! I have Tenere XT660Z, which is a most angry middleweight single-cylinder adventure out there, and my first owned bike ever.. I started riding it faaaar better after I got 300L since it's not as light as most of dirt bikes and it performs very close to those bigger ones, just with more confidence and ease!
@SethJayson Жыл бұрын
I am fortunate in that my wife basically says "buy whatever you want." I have held out for the Rally (still waitlisted) because I'm a returning geezer and I just want the small, light, simple bike. If I'm going to be doing like 15-55 mph on back roads, gravel, light double and single track, why would I need the bigger bike?
@MotorcyclesOffroad Жыл бұрын
You are exactly right, I think you will love it.
@johnpagejr.7628 Жыл бұрын
Seth Jayson I don't think you will have any regrets buying a 300 Rally. I am 72 and love riding mine and if you do want to go faster it will do it. I have ridden over small passes load down with camping gear and the bike held a steady 65 mph. The gas mileage is great also I never got less than 68 mpg.

I think Itchy Boots pretty much answered every question about the reliability and long distance capability of the bike pretty much straight off the showroom floor. Plus, she came up with regular wear item replacement parts in some pretty off the beaten path areas. I recently picked up a versys 300 fresh out of the crate. With the crash bars, skid plate and some better tires, I think it will do ok off-road, and on. The light and low seat factors were huge for me. Twin cylinder was a big draw also.
@MotorcyclesOffroad Жыл бұрын
Awesome, how is it on low end torque? I know usually with twins you have higher RPMs and have a torque curve higher in the rev range.

@@MotorcyclesOffroad it can't get out of its own way below 4k, but with the low gearing, it does ok. I really haven't had a chance to do much riding yet. Only have a hundred miles on it. Supposed to stay below 4k until it is broke in, and that is 35 in 6th gear.

Thanks for the backstory, Andrew! I’ve got a 250 Rally and love the little thing. Yeah it isn’t quite as honed as the 300 Rally with its small gas tank and differs gearing, but it does everything I ask of it. Even with it geared down to a 13T sprocket! I find it amazing that Honda essentially have the small dual sport market all to themselves now (here in NZ we don’t get the DR-Z250 or KLX300 due to their lack of ABS). It will be very interesting if KTM and Kawasaki decide to directly take on the 300L.
