@Nikwoac perhaps you just lack imagination, think of the damage caused by a bullet hitting your pelvic bone. Its likely a lethal strike. With a shattered pelvic bone any movement just lacerates you internally and there is nothing that can be done for you.

@@TheAZchambers you miss the mark on my comment, in the context of knife fighting, defending yourself with a knife without combat training is indeed useless. If anything it could be more of a liability. Getting cut or stabbed in a knife fight is an inevitability, the goal is to not get cut or stabbed as little as possible. Maybe being a black belt would help . Which is my point...

This stuff is why my dad taught me how to avoid getting into a knife fight in the first place. Rule #1: Never go into a big city for any reason, ever. Rule #2: Be aware of your surroundings. Rule #3: Walk and move with confidence; bad guys avoid people who look like they have no fear. Rule #4: Don't antagonize people, especially insulting their mother. Rule #5: Don't ever try to move in on another man's woman. Rule #6: Never argue with a mad woman in the kitchen or anywhere with sharp objects readily available. Those are the main 6 rules to avoiding a knife fight according to my dad. I'm 36, have never been in a knife fight, and I don't plan to ever be in one. I still carry a knife and gun anyway. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Good stuff! So many people don’t understand the real issue of not being able to obtain a concealed carry license in certain states. They may even question why you are posting videos about carrying a knife when you should just carry a gun as a primary. There are a lot of us out here in States that do not recognize shall issue licenses. We have to be interviewed, and scrutinized to show reasonable cause under the law to be issued a CCW. That said thank you for expanding your content beyond the norm of CCW. PS: Must of those Gun Fu masters who fixate on their firearm as being their primary method of defense. Most cases when they’re in a clinch all they’re thinking about is getting to their gun. Meanwhile the other guy is busy doing damage, the person does not know how to manage the damage to give them the space, and opportunity to get their concealed firearm. Love you guys! God bless! 🙏

As a former Police Officer, during our advanced academy, we spent a lot of time going over the law regarding dirks, daggers, etc. I was a police officer in a bigger city setting. It may be different in rural areas, but it’s best to know the laws. It was staggering to find out how many cops hadn’t read the Constitution or Declaration of Independence.

Exactly. An example would be like Illinois where state law says you can own a double-edged dagger or even an OTF knife with the same blade as long as your intent is to not use it to harm others. However, in Chicago those blades are a no-no because...Chicago.

It’s called the hover glide, it’s Nuts. You’ll be running or walking and the backpack basically stays in one spot rather than moving fixed with your body. It reduces felt weight and is way easier on your knees and body. Check it out and do a review for me please, it’s kind of expensive and I don’t have the money to just buy it to find out I don’t like it, and I trust your reviews. Anyways, I hope you read this comment brother. Keep fighting the good fight, love seeing your content and hearing your views on everything going on these days. God bless you and your family.

Not to be That Guy™, but... You have to be really careful about pulling a knife in a fight. A knife is a lethal weapon and can only be legally deployed if you are faced with immanent death or grievous bodily harm. If you end up in an altercation that goes to grappling and your assailant is not armed with a weapon, can you legally justify to a jury (facing a hostile DA that will say or do anything to put you behind bars) slashing open his wrist, cutting his femoral artery, or gelding him? Mr. Douglas was an under cover narcotics officer and given that he was a cop and his line of work, he probably had more leeway to go to a blade than you as a private citizen do. So, if you cary his knife or any blade, be very cautious in how you apply any of the tactics you see in this video. Make sure they are legally justified and train to only use a knife legally.

Like him saying an Insidious design, a really sneaky and extremely effective blade. If you're really in a clinch I think that blade design would really come in helpful

Suarez Gang Unit and Grab and Stab are 2 other good ones. Reverse wharncliffe with a severely ramped blade. The deepest penetration occurs with sharp ramped blades that cut while penetrating. Even better for penetration than icepicks. Then you dig in and pull to slice out from the full depth of penetration. They can do it all okay but are extremely oriented around deep penetration and the strong rip of ulnar deviation while pulling with your back. Not a slashing "defensive" blade design. Definitely an offensive leaning design. Thrusting vs slashing is a very interesting contrast.

@@chloedemeter5473 people are more prepared for any slashing techniques, but these techniques with an extremely effective blade design makes it very very hard to defend against. Also the type of cut's these blade's make are very devastating and possibly deadly.

Years ago I saw a Guarded Bowie knife on pawn stars on the antique roadshow from the Civil War and they were explaining why the blade was sharpened on the wrong side of the guard. Goes to show you very few ideas are actually new ones.

If you've done any Arnis mixed with other arts the "wrong" side makes perfect sense for the intended applications. All about knowing the why and intended use, almost like mission drives gear...🤔

Love it, so is it similar to say a Karambit style weapon? I realize the edge is on the opposite side, but it seemed techniques are similar in use no? By the way, there is something so stomach turning about groin shots or slashes isn't there 😫 🤣🇺🇲👍🏻

It should be pointed out that knife laws are as bad as ccw laws between states. What is legal in PA may not be legal in NY (NY seems to want to strip is law abiding citizens of everything that they can use to defend themselves). I'm not sure if municipalities can have their own laws on knives like then can on pistols and permits. Always seems weird to me that you can carry a 9mm but can't have a 3 1/2" knife.

you could just pack a double edged knife, if your already gonna go the extra mile of packing a fixed blade around, make it double edged, so you ain't gotta worry about what edge you hit with, i mean that's just m opinion, good video guys

John has a way of making an everyone want to do to him the thing he doesn't want done. In one instant everyone was looking at and thinking about a knife. In the next instance everyone watching wants that guy to stab John in the balls. You did that John. Read that one book about that rabbit and the thorny patch. Briar, brair, Breuer rabbit or some such. Kids book.

Good video with some interesting insight. I've never considered an inside blade over a double edge but legally it makes sense if you can't have a double. I keep an EDC 9mm and a Gerber Principle on a horizontal carry at the front of my belt. I might need to expand on my belt a little though lol
