In Europe, there's a growing sense of neglect towards the younger generation. They face lower salaries, longer work hours, and increased responsibilities while witnessing a surge in billionaires, particularly in countries like Germany. The housing market adds to their woes, as property prices soar, making it difficult to afford homes, let alone start families. To compensate, cheap labor from abroad is often favored, leading to frustration among the youth, who feel betrayed. People aren't inherently racist, but this frustration arises when governments prioritize external labor over addressing domestic issues. It's high time politicians acknowledge and tackle these pressing concerns rather than resorting to distractions. The younger generation deserves meaningful change. STOP playing with house inflation and reduce the prices. Its ridiculous the explotation of our generation.

Exactly, we need people that were born after the cold war in the Politics they grew up with a united Europe and would really act in the interest of Europeans because the young generation is also the most pro european demographic

Sorry to share this, but it seems that you think young people care or value more what happened to the party, rather than the outcomes of the debate. It would be rather encouraging, seeing rather the post-debate situation as an opportunity to reflect on the young people's criticisms, political engagement and diversity of expressing it, by a) being present at such an event, advocating for the policies they value, b) remaining hopeful and able to reflect on their concerns - especially when throughout the debate, those concerns were either not addressed adequately or seen to be issues that matter and b) some of them seeing this event as a channel to call for action, risking of being mistreated by authorities or peers, while using their right to protest. To pass their message concerning the need for immediate action on a matter they can't no more be witnesses in silence.... It would be rather encouraging, yet we have a lot to learn.

Neither Israel nor Palestine is part of the EU or at least Europe, so what is the reason of waiting this topic to be a central part of the debates... Apparently students have learnt not enough during their studies to raise issues about Europe and the EU, it's future, it's internal development... Sad, lack of conscious.. They had a chance to talk about Europe, but destiny of their home doesn't inspire their minds..

If you want to block the roads or do a protest for some crazy couse just organise your party in the west of the Netherlands, like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, the Hague or Utrecht, the rest of the country doesn´t like that. Local groups obay by that unwritten rule.

Europe itself is doing good. People who disagree are either anti-establishment or follow the Russia/China line of thinking. That isn't to say there aren't issues. If the EU becomes more right leaning and does something about immigration then it can be more successful then every nation independent. Also note this; be very careful for any sentiment that talks about ending the EU. We got an eastern neighbour that very much is insensitive to promote that narrative. Existing in the EU is better then not existing in the EU.

@gaborrajnai6213 except the establishment is right leaning, as the use here of police to stifle open discussion proves. Logically, you'd expect such a person to turn left. Especially in the Netherlands where all of today's issues are the result of 40 years of right government. But I see it all around me here, people are too lazy to think and susceptible to populist sound bites. Afterall, it's easier to blame minorities than handle the real cause of societal issues.

Odd that people relate more to national elections... I'm having trouble voting for EU elections this year exactly because none of the locals deserve even a chance. And as far as I can tell the muddy uselessness of national elections is spilling into the EU candidates and their lack of usefulness, not the other way around.

The only description for the current period under Ursula von der Leyen can only be described as a "horrifying nightmare" and a good lesson not to entrust one's country's economic security and national interests in the hands of an alliance with non-Europeans.
