Right, such a pretty breed in real life yet they still managed to mess up almost everything about them. Worse is that they don't even fix them, even from all the complains. I feel they use "Jorvik" as a way to make horses lazier and just to make money. They could have been so beautiful, as we can see for the new horses they can clearly make good animations..

I agree with all you said really. It's dissapoiting thinking about how much they could of added with/to the horse. The fjord horse was really something you'd have to work for and then you get something good back for all your work. Now you can just buy it from Valedale. The friesians are elegant and very beautiful horses in real life. Yet they STILL managed to mess them up. Then the fact that they don't even fix the animations, even from all the complains?! The jorvik wild horse is a really pretty breed in my opinion. Animations are uniqe, and the coats are alright. But they made players so excited for ways you might have to get it to trust you, and how you would form a bond with it. Oh no,no,no just buy it.

Sso loves to remove any sense of having struggle in the game. They can’t comprehend that not every limit, or slightly annoying things in game is bad. Listing out the ones off the top of my head 1. The ponys being slow was a realistic feature and pony races.. 2. Cold tolerance. It was annoying but thats why it was good. Having to “gear up” for going to the winter area was fun, they could have just made the starter horse immune if they were worried 3. They removed having to keep pressing the up button to go fast. So now you go fast forever… 4. Making the mall obsolete. They could have just made it easier to get there with more bus stops and updated it.. but they want you to always be able to spend money 5. Now theyre talking about having horses be sold like the global store.. when all we wanted was to be able to test horses.

I don't know. I don't think this was always the case and some of the decisions mentioned above were completely justified 1. The ponys being slow was an annoying feature and not at all realistic. I would even argue that a horse like the Percheron is slower than a pony. Them having the same speed also doesn't take away that they have their own championship and race. Training a slow pony was annoying as heck and that was a reason a lot of players only ever bought 1 pony for the quest and that is it. 3. And where is the issue in that? Players always go max speed regardless and pressing the W button every 10seconds isn't really engaging anyways. I would also argue that they got more creative with the race tracks. You could run max speed through all of the old races but now you have to juggle the speed, to be able to make certain jumps and turns. If anything, managing speed is more engaging than before, because of their layout. 4. No player was ever able to track where to buy what tack and clothes. It was always annoying, when you saw a certain shirt you like, to find out where it is from. You either asked the player, or you googled it. Now you just hop into the store and get it. If you still want an immersed experience, you can still go to the stores, the global store doesn't take that away. Another bonus of the global store was, when you hit the cap of the JS. You had to ride to the next store, buy something, buy back to the quest and turn it in, now you just quickly open the store and buy an item of your liking. Some things had to be changed, not because for the sake of changing it and dumbing the game down, but because it didn't give anything to the game. It wasn't engaging or adding to the immersive experience, it was just there to be annoying for the sake of being annoying. If you want to add an inconvinience into the game, there needs to be a positive outcome for it.

When SSO released the new Friesian. I was really excited at first, but actually they are really overrated. The Friesian irl is a very elegant and proud horse. But the animations of the Jorvik Friesian in SSO don't look like the animations of the Friesians in real life at all. They also added some really unrealistic animations when you let the horse stand still. Aaand I also think the galop is kinda weird and in the trot I think their head could be a little higher up, which would make them look more elegant (just like the old friesian). I'm dissapointed that Star Stable messed up one of the most popular breeds. Sadly the Friesian is also one of my favourite breeds. I think Star Stable can do much better than this. By the way, I'm sorry if my English has some mistakes (I'm Dutch).

they took the fresian, a staple of the sso dressage (and dare i say 2017-19 emo) community... AND BUTCHERED IT. WITHOUT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. this horse has meaning to a lot of people, like myself, who are invested in dressage and think this model can/could be gorgeous, or *want* to use it as a club horse but since its gaits are so downright atrocious its almost impossible to ride it and not double over laughing. sso is trying to listen, or they seem like it, but its all 'in one ear, out the other'

I personally love the American Paints and the Jorvik Wilds. I have the "corrupted tree" or whatever fjord from Halloween. The only reason I bought a Generation 3 Friesian is because of a dressage club. I'm going to keep it just because I spent 950 star coins on it and selling the horse would be a HUGE waste of my money in real life and star coins.

The Frisians are a bit too generic horse, the mane is bad witch is sad because they are famous for their manes. If i had one in game I would change the mane immediately witch makes it kinda' pointless to buy a Frisian specifically. I like the larger more expressive eyes like the Starter compared to the Clydesdale. Makes them look sapient and gives them more personality, even though that's not a thing in this game. The Welsh ponies eyes are perhaps a bit big but otherwise fine.

I like the Friesian, but I'm not picky because I don't know horse breeds as well as some. I totally get the complaints from people who do know/love the breed. My main complaint with the new Friesian is that godawful block of a tail. It doesn't flow at all, just comes to a big square at the end and looks so bad! A note about the JWH: hyping up the idea of finding and bonding with an undiscovered breed in this brand new undiscovered area, and then you could buy them *in one of the towns* before they moved them to Wildwoods 😂

Honestly, I never had any issue with the model at all. People will sit up and scream at the screen about how isn't "breed accurate" but I've seen plenty of Friesians that look like the one SSO made and I think this community is wasting its time harping on SSO looking true to life. Star Stable has literally never looked realistic. Video games are video games. If you want real life accuracy; step outside. The animations on the other hand are absurd. Horses just don't move or express themselves the way the Friesian does in game and honestly I think whoever made the animations has never seen a horse before and did absolutely no research. I'd like to think SSO will fix it since I saw a rumor a wild back that there was going to be an overhaul on the animations but I wonder if it will ever happen. I own two of these but I refuse to ride them until they're improved. I don't think people would be half as upset about the Friesian model if SSO hadn't hyped it all to hell and then gave us such a badly animated horse. If they changed the model tomorrow and left the animations the same the horse would still look like shit because the model's not the problem.

It’s weird how SSO are pushing to implement more horses, yet getting rid of the features like pony speed or cold tolerance? Surely those features would make more people buy more horses so they can advance through the game more comfortably? Now you only really need to buy a pony and an icelandic - but before you would also need to buy a hafflinger or north Swedish to be able to go full speed through Dino Valley. Guess SSO didn’t think that one through in their greed to put out horses every month.

4:50 I actually find it really annoying that SSO rarely gives us updated old coats and instead just gives us new ones, like I really wanted a purely black english thoroughbred but instead they just had to give the new one white markings when it wasn't needed, or they could have made a seperate one. To be fair, fresians aren’t dressage horses, they are CARRIAGE HORSES. And are infamous in the dressage community for how many uneducated people think “oh I’ll get a fresian for dressage it’ll be gReAt!” Then they buy the horse and it ends up ending terribly because they are NOT dressage horses. Also, dressage horses are NOT supposed to have Roman noses, it is look down upon and considered “un-fancy” to have a Roman nose on your horse.

Great video, explains a ton of issues with several breeds. Only issue I don't agree with is that ponies should be slow. Sure, they aren't as big as horses but almost all the ponies I have ridden in my life were about as fast if not faster than most horses. I get that a Shetland pony would not be able to run very fast, but these are not Shetlands. If they were to make them just a smidgen slower than regular horses I would be okay with that, but their old speed was way to slow.

I think the two main reasons as to why I really did not like this new Friesian horse, was because sso had this horse marketed and made out to be this "you can help us make this the perfect horse and they claimed they would be accepting feedback, when sso first showed us how the horse looked people didn't like it and they gave critique people even edited the WIP to show them how they could adjust the horse to look better. and after that first WIP sso compelty stopped sharing updates with us until the horse came out and labeled it a Jorvik Friesian with no changes at all they completely ignored the community! and felt like such a lazy way to fix the anatomical issues "oh it doesn't look like a real Friesian horse cus its from jorvik there different" my seccond reason for not liking them is just the idle animations I can put up with the all the other awkward animations, but the idle animations are just..there a bit to silly but what really throws me off with them is there so fast! does this horse need a vet? it looks like she has Equine Epilepsy. also just a side note but like I swear this horse started the trend that i personally don't like of all the horses having to lick you or stick there tongue out idk it just annoys me that every new horse has a some..odd... tongue..licking...animation but that's just a minor personally pet peeve of mine lol.

But did it fail though? People still bought the friesian horse, giving SSO a lot of money. SSO is all about microtransactions and honestly, as long as people keep spending, their opinions really do not matter. They have "ruined" and changed multiple breeds after putting them for sale, for example excusing themselves from changing English Thoroughbred gaits by saying "our animator was sick". I mean this is extremely unprofessional and should not happen at all, and they should rather delay the sale of the breed or then not change it at all, but this did not happen. And all after the absolute chaos when SSO changed Trakehner horse gaits. And when it comes to the friesian horses, it was a complete slap in the face. I mean, friesians do not come in "various colors", and if they do it is a result of inbreeding. And SSO throws out all these "pretty colors", saying it's Jorvik and so on. They are promoting an actual breed of a horse with inbred colors. They could have called it "Jorvik Baroque Horse", but you know. Money money money.

Maybe they're not that realistic, but I think it's just not fair to say, that they are poor quality. Artistically and aesthetically, they are very nice, I think! The animations are not suiting the horse, I agree, but the horse has character and has some very unique looking facial expressions! Also, the generations before that were not better either! The exterior was very incorrect. I do agree though, that they look way more majestic! But I just wanted to say, that it's kind of rude to say that the "quality" isn't good. It's not the quality, it's the "vibe" that doesn't match the horse. I love my two friesians and ride them all the time, and I find you can't universally say that the freezys are bad. (btw. I agree to the face problem, I don't know why they did that, but it would have been nicer, if it had been different!) Just a quick reminder: 6:29 this is actually not a palomino it's a flaxen chestnut. Palomino is caused when a chestnut gets a single cream gen (Cr/n) A flaxen chestnut is caused when a chestnut horse has a flaxen gen :)

Only update I like is giving ponies speed like normal horses but just because I'm not much of a championship person and mostly like to train so training slow ponies was my most hated part of training horses. I started to like training ponies since they delated limit of speed. Well I do agree that getting rid of cold tolerance was pretty bad. I actually liked that rule. I guess SSO just tried to make DV more popular because they thought people don't visit it because of cold tolerance rule.

It's almost as if SSO has two teams working on horse models, one that is actually pretty decent and making semi realistic horses and another one that is stuck in the crusty old cartoon style and a team that is refusing to look at real horses cause SERIOUSLY some of these are so bad dear lord! Star stable has a wonderful fanbase (one that is way too gullible but I digress..) and a lot of people in the fandom give really good ideas and help with showing how a model could look like.

When you point out all of these little flaws to the Jorvik Fresians, I suppose I get the hate... Idk, I fell in love with my Jorvik Fresian the moment I saw him. But then again, I was also just returning to the game after several years away, so literally *any* horse model looked infinitely better than the ones I remember seeing.

The friesian was going to be the "it" horse, like it was back in the day (not like I actually experienced the novelty of the G1- G2 friesians, but hearing the stories and such). It's been over a year and the horse is still getting criticized. Would it not benefit them to create a g4 horse and for them to make changes? I just can't wrap my head around what happened here. No statement, no acknowledgement, no apology from sso. Are we entitled to those things? No, but with how heavily people don't like them, I would figure they would say something. With the whole sandline/sso dressage community I mean we proved we can demand changes and they can pull through. Idk, maybe they're seriously doing it but again, it's been over a year since they came out

I personally like the Jorvik Fresians. However, I hate the halt, animations aren’t great, gaits are pretty bad, and I think the manes look bad. They aren’t accurate to irl fresians. I do absolutely love the paint horses. The gaits, the way the mane moves, the coats, I love them. They are one of my personal favorites.

I hate the gallop ... I love the transition gallop I dont like the way the tail sways side to side when walking, troting etc looks wayyy to unrealistic i was wanting more bounce to the hair and the mane i love the length but I want the movement of the gypsy vanner mane xc

I have to disagree that this is a failure. I love the friesian. Mostly the gen three. But we all have opinions and I wouldn’t want sso to change a thing about the gen three friesian. Although they could possibly make a real friesan and keep the Jorvik one as well.

Coming from a SSO dressage person's view... The whole dressage community was extremely excited about this new Friesian. It was very important. The friesian was the most used SSD club horse, so we were all excited and anxious at the same time. The gaits and first-glance looks were the most important. I feel like since Dressage is basically sso's biggest 'learning community', we really put a lot of pressure on them to make this good. And they completely failed us. The gen-2 friesian's trot was high-stepping, head held high, etc. This trot is just.. odd. It's very stiff. Straight. Sure, it goes up high, but it's just.. odd. I can't really describe it as I don't ride horses irl anymore but I think you'd know what I mean. The canter, also is stiff and odd. The walk is okay, probably my favorite gait on them. As soon as the gen-3 friesian released, there was a QUICK rise in clubs who started using other horses. Now, it's been a decent time since they've been released, and I'd say that they are not the most used SSD horse anymore. It's more the Andalusians, Arabians, etc. quick personal side note, their tails look like BLOCKS. they literally are swaying bricks with some hair..

I love the fresians I think their beautiful, the only problem is the goofy faces. It's cute that they have a funny personality but it suppose to be a elegant dressage horse not a goofy one. It doesn't fit the horses personality and I wish they fixed that. I feel like it's rude because Fresians in real life are beautiful they were never funny horses in real life and whenever u do dressage or something it just ruins it. Star stable really has to fix the fresians face expressions.

While I don't like gen. 3 friesians much, I must say I like some of the gaits, like the fastest one and the trot. But I hate with burning passion them making goofy faces. The default mane is also ugly. I don't have much knowledge about horses but I see a difference with a nose of a real friesian vs the game one. Idk how sso could get things so wrong. 🤦‍♀️ It's such a shame, the friesians could be amazing. And sso doesn't give two shits about players feedback regarding friesians. :/ Which is weird to me. Speaking of gen. 3 fiords I'm also disappointed with removing the Kallters (and old fiords), those quests were surely great and felt special and mysterious. Ah and about the pony speed, I personally like that they're faster now. I don't like how they removed cold tolerance and automatic changing coats of jvhs though. Btw I'm curious, what do you think about finn horses? I think they're way better than friesians despite having same animations. Probably only things I don't like bout them is their walk and lying down/getting up. But generally they're very sweet imo.

I know its just a game But dressage is fir the horse not the horse for dressage. I knkw peoppe who dont like some horses becsuse they behave in a silly way, for example they make nose when they feel different emotions But its just an animal and living creature so it has the right to do it and also I dont like the fact that some people hold tje reins so tightly that the horse's neck gets broken at some point.
