Great episode here! It took a number of years, including through my training in prevention research at Stanford Medical School, before I realized that the medical system will do very little to optimize your performance, prevent disease before it occurs, or even keep you in a positive state of health (not just the absence of disease)-even if you're an advocate for yourself! It's very true that the incentives are just not there for preventing what will be coming for all of us (cancer, heart disease, metabolic disorder, and cognitive decline) decades before we start to suffer from them. But we need to! Dr. Bland here is spot on in the importance of taking a proactive approach to health, and it meshes very well with the Medicine 3.0 approach advocated by Peter Attia.

Cities are the problem. It is said that to put millions people togheter depending for everything is like living in the forest mountains air. Secondly in fields, in the village, there so much pesticidea that you can't pump fresh fair water in the underground. I no more digest certain foods, when they comes from stores because the ones I eat are coming from the gardens, without any chemical add. I have goats, they don't want to eat vegetables from the store, this is also a measuring tool, as they eat the same ones coming from the garden, confirmining that we are poisoned. Eating in the natural hills around, my goats are healthy, and me, I never have flu symptoms. This world walks on it's head.
