That is a huge stretch. You're really going to call a bike that can't realistically take to the highway and drive interstate, or on the track, or with a broad sitting pillion, the "best in the world?" Get. Real.

Also while I’m here, I think a 600 is good for a starter bike. You won’t get bored with it after one season. I started back in 03 at 16 on a Cbr 600rr. Drove it off the showroom floor with 4 miles on it! Traded in my banshee for it. Just have to know what the bike is capable of. Be aware that it has power. I did just fine. I did lay that one down really hard but it was because I was riding a stand up at about 70 and I hit a pot hole so deep it made the bike instantly start to death wobble. Before I could even set it down I slammed on my left side. It’s the saddest thing in the world to see something you love SO MUCH destroyed. I made it out. I was pretty banged up,but nothing life threatening. Road rash sucks man. My bandages would heal in the scabs so I would have to sit in the bath tub for an hour and a half to let them soak and peel em off. That was a painful experience. And I would change em a few times a day. Shit would still happen. Sorry for the novel

Don't listen to the naysayers. The Grom community is huge.

Best first bike no if,ands,or buttts about it. I had one, LOVED IT, but sold it 3 months in cause I wanted more power so I bought a 701. Dumped abunch into the 701 and wanted to pay it off so I sold the grom. After another couple months without one I really missed it. Especially after getting really good at wheelies on the 701. Doing slow wheelies on a grom is a different kind of fun and you don’t have to be going 25+++. Anyway, I think the mini bike is extremely forgiving and I would have gotten super hurt/died on anything bigger, personally. I needed the small bike to humble me and teach me how to ride while also giving me the grace of not killing me if I do something stupid. Lastly, I think if people can afford it having a street legal mini like a grom and a big bike for everything the grom can’t do is the best combo. Mini’s hit different, but you will eventually want much more. Having both solves the void one or the other leaves haha

Groms are good to teach on but personally i would not get one as a first bike unless its for city commuting which it is perfect for. The grom is basically a scooter and besides teaching you the basics of riding, doesnt really prepare you for a larger bike. I have a grom and an mt07. The mt isnt even that fast and the difference between the two is massive. Almost every person i know who has a grom also has a bigger bike that they had before the grom. It all depends on what you plan to do and where you want to ride. The grom excels at some things that larger bikes dont. I ride my grom just as much as the MT. Generally speaking i think the grom fits better as a secondary bike or for people who just dont like going fast.
