Jeep are problems, for your pocket, just empty every pocket. But that’s the gift, mods are endless, legos for adults. My wife has hated my jeeps. But she borrowed my present Jeep for a week, and now wants one her own. Trading her Cherokee in in the spring for another Wrangler. But such a great community, and you can find videos for any fix or mod you need, and so easy to work on to save money as long as you have the time and tools to do so.

Ford had no hand in the design. Bantam (a Pennsylvania based car company) came up with original design and won the military contract, however bantam was a small company that was having financial trouble (bantam would be out of business shortly after the war). So the contract was given to Willys, who had also designed a very similar vehicle. The government took the rights and gave it to Willys. Willys made some improvements and began producing it. Eventually the demand outpaced Willys production capabilities. So the government contracted ford to build them as well. However since it was a Willys design, ford could not put their name on it. So what ford did out of spite was to put an F script on every part on the ones they built. After the war, Willys continued to build the Jeep for the military and began marketing it to civilians. In the late 60’s, Kaiser-Willys had decided to leave the automobile industry and sold Jeep to AMC. AMC continued to build the Jeep until AMC was bought by Chrysler in April of 1987. By the time Chrysler got Jeep (the main reason for them buying AMC), the Wrangler (YJ), the 4.0l (which was all AMC) were already in production. The Grand Cherokee was in its final design stages. Chrysler basically just got the Grand Cherokee to production ready. The TJ was designed in 93 but was not released until early 96 as a 97. There is no such thing as a 96 wrangler. The 95 model year Wranglers were built until December of 95 and 97 began production in January of 96 but released as an early 97. The TJ was the last Jeep to contain AMC parts (4.0, 2.5, door handles and basically most of the chassis and body). The Wrangler was built in the original Willys factory that had built the WWII jeeps up until recently, when a new factory was built right next to the old one. Fun AMC facts: AMC designed the Hummer in 1979 through their military/industrial division AM General, which was sold off in the mid-80s (the US government forced the sale due to AMC becoming a victim of a hostile takeover by Renault in 1979. Renault was partly owned by the French government at the time and US laws at that time stated that a major supplier of military hardware could not be owned by a foreign government). Renault would perform anther hostile takeover again with Nissan in 1999. Renault still owns Nissan to this day). The Charger, challenger and 300 (and formerly Magnum) are built in an old AMC plant in Canada. The LX (rwd/awd, including current Charger, challenger and 300) and LH (fwd, including intrepid, 300m, breeze, ect) car platforms used by Chrysler from the late 80s through today are all based off of an AMC platform (originating in the eagle vision and eagle premier) which also included the cab forward design that helped sell a lot of Chrysler’s in the 90s. The door handles on wranglers and CJs until 2007 were originally from AMCs passenger cars and were first used in 1968. If you look at a gremlin or AMX you will see the same door handles. The history behind cars and the industry is a lot more complicated then many think.

CamaroAmx you realize that ford practically designed the grill because it was cheap to stamp out from a peice of metal and paint that way and it made the front end design off what most jeeps are still famous for, the front end
@garypiont61149 ай бұрын
Thanks . Best comment on KZbin.
@CamaroAmx9 ай бұрын
@@danielfrederick306 every prototype had a similar grill. Ford might of designed the final piece (as the final Jeep product had cues from each of the submitted designs from the various manufacturers). But the vast majority of the military Jeep came from bantam’s design. And there are slight variances between Willy’s and ford built Jeeps beyond the F script. In a side note, the government gave Bantam the contract to build trailers (and other equipment) for the Jeep as a consultation prize.

Do your homework. AMC sold Jeep to Chrysler in 1987. that is where the name wrangler came about. The new Chrysler wrangler code name was YJ this first generation wrangler last detail 1995 then which was replaced by the Tj. Actual production years for the jeep TJ was 1996 through 2006. There was a TJ Unlimited worn out as that LJ introduced into 2004. The unlimited jeep LJ lasted till 2006. wine also thing to mention the jeep Rubicon trim package was introduced into 2003. Which is on arguably the best Jeep off-road trim package available for the wrangler. And in addition the jeep TJ what is modernized within its 10 year span in 2003 including a revamped of the 4.0L motor and the 2.5 L motor and etc. in 2007 jeep came out with that new JK wrangler. It came with two doors or four doors the four-door model would be called Jku. The two door wrangler or still just called a two door JK wrangler. In 2012 jeep came out without a modernized version of the JK wrangler. This also killed off the The 3.8 L motor , The X trim package, etc. in the 2012 model jeep put in a 3.6 L Penta star engine which is more fuel-efficient and had more horsepower than the previous 3.8 L engine there is also additional infotainment in modern touches to the interior exterior did not change much. In 2018. The JK wrangler ended and the jeep JL wrangler was introduced. The JL wrangler is the most current wrangler you can buy now at the Sahara trim package you can only buy it in four doors. Also in the jail to introduce the 2 L turbo engine for a optional engine choice for your wrangler. Jeep fans are excited to see the release of the new 2020 gladiator. Jeep fans lawn awaited this. No arguably jeeps are very expensive and as time goes on they get more expensive. True jeep fans are a few of the jeep TJ and the jeep LJ or TJ Unlimited. What’s the last true Jeep. Even though 75% of the jeeps out on the road today or four-door unlimited jeeps. Jeeps are still one of the most Corky just fine mostly reliable vehicles out on the road today.

Thanks for the break down. I have always loved the tj and have wanted one for the longest. This video was released not even 24 hours after I bought the tj shown. At the time I didn't know too much about the history of the Jeep brand. I was so excited about making a video with it that I sort of over looked that part. I've thought about taking the video down because of a few false points but decided against it because this video is the only record I have of how the jeep looked when I first got it. The second I bought it, I started changing, modifying and fixing it! Otherwise I hope you enjoyed the video!
