Why The Last of Us is the Best Adaptation Ever

So excited to see a video game adaptation done right for once!
Oh and one thing I forgot to mention in the video is thank god they decided to adapt it over to a tv show format. I know they were planning on making it into a film at first, and I can only imagine how lifeless that would've left it.
Even now some people are saying there wasn't enough time for adequate relationship building between Joel and Ellie haha

Incredible video! I didn't even realise you were a small KZbinr until afterwards. You're really well spoken and the production quality was great! I absolutely loved the show and it makes me wanna go and buy a playstation just to experience the game. Honestly, my only gripe was how they showed a romantic couple for an hour and a half as an episode when we could have gotten more scenes with Ellie and Joel building their relationship.

That’s the fucking thing too, if she acted in a more passionate way and have been written that makes it to where she had a bigger role in the story and contributed to it then we wouldn’t see her as “that lady from two and a half men”. I didn’t judge it personally but I can tell that things were a bit off.

I think it was actually a subpar adaptation. The show needed to be at least 12 episodes and the lack of infected in the world made Joel's big decision at the end seem way less consequential. The whole reason why his decision is such a big one is because in the game we see both sides and we're torn. In show, there are very few areas of infected that we're shown soo if thats the case then why the big need to kill her an attempt a cure that they've already tried and failed. The other survivors were the danger in the show, not the infected. The actors did a good job and I like how the first episode opened with them explaining the fungus. Other than that the game absolutely shits all over the series.

Honestly, I feel like the secret to Video Game adaptations to film isn't that complex. You simply HAVE to have someone who is a fan of the games to be the Writer AND Director, and they HAVE to be able to know what bits & moments are integral to the story and to the fans. The feel of the game has to be captured in the film. You also HAVE to respect the original fans & keep them happy first & foremost, because if you can't do that then the movie is already a failure, period.

the 3rd and seventh episodes were nothing but a waste of time. they were far from the original, so far in the face that you could have cut the episode and it wouldn't have changed a thing. despite those two episodes, it was a wonderful adaptation of the game and its story.

9/10 did not like the Kathleen character at all. I'm not being petty here but she acts like 20 years of the apocalypse didn't happen. How can she grew up with a view of life like that. Didn't she see people loss people? And the direction of the actress didn't do her any good. Most likely she is a friend of the showrunner or something.

I hear the show is good, but I just can't get over the actress choice for Ellie. She just doesn't fit the role at all imo. She looks like a total goodie tooshoo & just looks nothing like Ellie at all. & that forehead... Good lord that forehead.

By far not even the best adaption but it was okay. I'm a huge last of us fan and I was pretty let down because it seemed like they just rushed through it as soon as possible because those game could have been at least two seasons if they would have not glossed over Pittsburgh and spent a whole episode on two characters and then left out the majority of the game with the one character and barely showed any infected just kind of bums me out.
