A plethora of essential tasks in the wild: Untangling tough knots, pulling and baiting slippery fishing hooks, looping, bending & cutting wires, pulling big sewing needles through thick leather or cloth, gripping and jerking short ends of rope to secure lashes, holding nails for safe hammering, extracting small things from small holes and crevices, handling hot, slippery or dirty stuff. Pliers give you that nimble, steady, forceful and precise mechanical advantage that your flesh and bone phalanges won't.

I bet you could email leatherman about your bit issue, they’d definitely send you a new bit and probably a new tool 🤷🏼♂️ That bit holder has always held the bits in tight for me.
