wasn't that reverse divergence also a regular divergence considering the lower highs on the macd as price formed higher highs?

If you are talking about the one that occurred around July on the weekly chart, then yes it was a standard divergence too. We got the advantage of it when price corrected back to the 18MA, broke it and fell further to 40MA. Then we showed reverse divergence.

@janalgos Both of them are signals. The first one was standard divergence when MACD made a lower high with respect to price. Standard divergence indicate a pullback to 18MA. They don't necessarily mean reversal. We got their benefit when price corrected from 560 levels to 525 levels. Then MACD showed reverse divergence and hence price rallied.

Not always. But, a correction to the zero line and potential reversal is a stand-alone signal to monitor.
