Just to be clear the whole time and neuron part is from the lore saying how "excruciating" death by disruptor was. My BS degree was neuroscience focused, worked in a neuro lab so I know how parts of the explanation are silly. But it's much less of a suspense than accepting other SW realities like hyperdrives. A lot in common with exploding projectiles in small arms in real life: they are banned from military use since they are going to kill or wound only a single target anyway, exploding stuff only causes prolonged suffering and (even more) grievous injuries for nobody's benefit. The bounty hunter's perspective sounds like the arguments used in favor of (the use of) expanding ammunition in the past: "The civilized soldier when shot recognizes that he is wounded and knows that the sooner he is attended to the sooner he will recover. Your fanatical barbarian, similarly wounded, continues to rush on, spear or sword in hand; and before you have the time to represent to him that his conduct is in flagrant violation of the understanding relative to the proper course for the wounded man to follow-he may have cut off your head."
@fasteddy93122 жыл бұрын
There are many situations in warfare where killing someone is better than wounding someone. However given the nature of modern warfare there are many cases where wounding an enemy will reduce his combat capabilities far more than killing him. I think a good hypothetical example would be medium to close range engagement roughly 100 - 200 meters. If you kill the enemy one man is no longer a factor in the engagement, but if you wound him it's quite possible it takes 1 or 2 other soldiers to then attend to him and try to keep him alive. Therefore removing 2 or 3 men from a fight without killing any of them. So if you have a squad of 10 men and 2 of them are seriously injured you could render half or even the whole squad combat ineffective depending on the situation. That being said, it depends on the situation, if one where in a close quarters engagement I'm pretty sure killing the enemy as fast as possible takes priority. If your familiar with Warhammer 40K, the lasgun issued to average guardsman is hilariously week compared to other weapons in the setting. The justification for this is while the lasgun can kill a target, the real goal is to wound the individual so he ties up the enemy's recourses taking care of him. This is only for him to die within a few days as lasgun wounds are almost always fatal.

@@rawb After taking a look at it i can say that although you're obviously putting in the effort, the writing and "joke" structure of your abridged series is too random and not really based on anything to be well liked by a broader audience. If you look at more popular abridged series like DBZ abridged, SAO Abridged and Hellsing Ultimate Abridged (now the people are the golden examples of Abridging and writing a series so don't be discouraged about their level of production) they have rewritten entire characters and let their jokes stick to how their characters and personalities of said characters are written. Their abridged characters still go trough their own personality growths and character plot just as the original characters have. Although you're already at a bit of a disadvantage by not abridging an animated show :') Not trying to flame you, just giving you some tips on storytelling and character development and stuff. :) No need to follow any of it if you don't want to, just Keep doing what you love/enjoy my dude.

@@shadeymcbones6707 I think this exact opinion could be applied to dvz abridged if you only watch a few episodes. The mandalorian doesn't have a lot of "character" development in it so it can't possible occur in those first half dozen episodes where he is by himself doing nothing but walking around ya know? It isn't till he meets up with the IG unit that you can start to do those stories. I appreciate the long feedback my man, but tbh it's nothing to do with "joke" structure and everything to do with just the way the internet works. Sometimes it doesn't matter how funny or unfunny something is, you can't control if it gets popular or not. I made top10numbers.com for example in 2017 and it didn't blow up until 2019 when some other random youtubers/streamers started watching the video on stream. Pretty sure it was explained by people being wounded by disruptors at a lower power setting or something. Same reasoning as exploding bullets in real life I suppose: such projectiles are small and just powerful enough to kill or wound only one man, and as an ordinary bullet will do for this purpose, there is no overriding need for using these inhuman weapons.

The fun thing is... Every direct energy weapon works by splitting molecular bonds. Give any molecule enough energy so that it's thermal vibration becomes stronger than bonds holding it together and it will break from structural lattice and become liquid, vapor, or ever fall apart completely or reacts with something else. So, in the end of the day ... disruptor rifle IS just a very powerful blaster. It is very powerful and compact in the same time, somehow.

"Today is a good day to die." vs. "Today is a good day for someone else to die." I'm going to put my money on the guy wearing actual armor with mobility and the goal of killing the other guy. The Klingons might get a bit salty over the mando's tactics being a tad "dishonourable" but I think that that'd be a fight that a lot of people would be watching and betting on... also I think that survivors on both sides would walk away feeling very satisfied.
@casbot715 жыл бұрын
From a _covert ops perspective_ they are great weapons, since they don't leave an *inconvenient corpse* lying around to alert other guards ect, and you can even steal the uniform. And why don't they destroy clothing as well? In that case they are the _perfect robbery weapon_ as well, kill your victim and leave their stuff lying there ready to grab, no searching of the body needed. Also you can be sure your _target is dead,_ with a blaster they could be dead or just wounded and playing dead, or dying and able to survive with medical help - but if they're a cloud of vapour you don't need to _double tap_ in the head to make sure. And they are just better from a hygiene perspective, no bodies left to rot and cause disease, or stink up the place.
