Brie Larson is back as Captain Marvel and is joined by Iman Vellani as Ms Marvel and Tenoyah Pariss as Monica Rambeau. Unfortunately, this isn't a triumphant return to form for Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige, instead, it continues the decline of the MCU. S2 had it's focus on Loki, his character developement, his story and especially in the finale with honestly better looking CGI than the Marvels, lol. But that is what the M-She-U Phase 4 did to Marvel, and only they are to blame. Give the Loki season 2 guys all the projects and fire everyone that was involved in writing/directing shit like Quantummania and The Marvels, Disney, you're better off that way.

That last statement is the true problem of Marvel at the moment. They had the blueprints for a really good plot about responsability and a lesson about "Never Meet Your Heroes", and at any chance they had they just dropped it and kept going with the tiring "Save the Multiverse" plot. The worse culprit of this is again Captain Marvel, they unintentionally portray her as the worse thing that has happened to this universe with how irresponsible and uncaring she is about the galaxy itself, by either showing how she doesnt helps neither the Kree or the Skrulls when she knows they need the help, for 14 years, or how she completely ignores a problem that she caused, its amazing how they manage to further assasinate a character that barely exists.

I mean, i personally don't care for the first two, but Kate Bishop at least had a character arc. She trained her whole life because she idolized Hawkeye. She failed, she struggled, she wanted to impress Clint. Only thing i didn't agree with was her beating Kingpin on her own, that was imo just too much, but otherwise i can at least relate to her. Compare that to instantly perfect She-Hulk or Shuri/Riri and you know why barely anyone can relate to them.

There are still fantastically written films and shows with strong female and male characters that will appeal to both sexes. You just have to shift through the sh!t. Unfortunately, Disney is only looking for crap stories, execrably written to wrap around female characters no one cares about. But after watching The Marvels and suffering through the IBS caused by it, I watched 1883 and it restored my faith that there ARE good stories with fantastic writing for strong female/male characters that can co-exist and that both sexes can relate to. I dare anyone to watch the first 4 minutes of Episode 1 of 1883 and not want to find out more about Elsa Dutton's story. Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and Sam Elliot give outstanding performances with cameos by Tom Hanks and Billy Bob Thornton. But it is Isabel May as 17 year old Elsa that steals the show. She's not a Mary Sue and you watch her character arc and journey as she takes guidance and grows. She is at the heart of not just 1883, but also all the seasons of the shows 1923 and Yellowstone with Harrison Ford and Kevin Costner.

Was it really more 'embarrassing' than Love and Thunder or Quantumania? I hardly think so. This was actually a movie where the main character is 16, so it was supposed to be lighthearted. Somehow I feel like this movie is criticized more harshly because it centers women. Not saying it's perfect, the issues we've been seeing in the past 3 years are there too, but it's far less mortifying than some other recent Marvel projects. A good way to sport sexist reviews is to observe whether WandaVision is included in the examples of good post-Endgame projects, and as we can see here, the creator went as far as listing GotG 3 before WV as such.

I hated what they did with Nicky Fury too. In phases 1-3 he had a really good balance of serious/dark and comedic. But after that he became a total goofball along with Thor. Secret Invasion fixed that, only to make him more of a comedic character in the Marvels. In the Infinity Saga, his character was better written and more consistent with less appearances, no idea how Marvel could degrade his character by giving him more projects and screentime.

I have to push back on one point. Ronin the Accuser was himself a terrible and undeveloped villain. If he were not in the otherwise great Guardians of the Galaxy, HE would be remembered as one of the worst villains of the MCU, and rightly so. He ran like a bitch in the first Captain Marvel movie, and his gender swapped replacement is worse in every way. Also, hammers in battle are primarily used as weapons against armored opponents, and while it might have scored some points on Iron Man or Ultron, no one Ronin or Darbin ever fought would have been weak against a hammer, so their weapon was just a useless prop to be destroyed.

What’s weird is the pacing/writing for this film. It literally opens with a scene that has nothing to do with it. After that, we get a very brief recap of the first film before the plot starts. I’m not joking, literally 3 minutes in, the main plot kicks into a high gear and our 3 characters immediately meet. This is not how you do a team up! Take the Avengers, for example. The Avengers took almost an hour before our characters fully come together. It’s not that it’s boring, it’s actually really interesting because it takes it time and slowly raises tension. This movie doesn’t even develop the relationship between our leads! They just meet each other and are like “let’s get to together to do something”. This movie suffers from the runtime! This movie feels like it’s written by A.I! This just feels like a series of scenes duct taped together by a VERY thin plot. There is literally a scene where Carol is flying in space, then pops up in Kamala’s house to smile at her parents, and appears on the moon to get chased by an army of Kree. We get no context for this scene! Immediately after, the other 2 heroes show up and help Carol immediately. Reminder, this is only like 5 minutes in. The whole movie is scenes like this. A bunch of random mumbo jumbo happening on screen in the matter of seconds to get to the next mindless moment! Garbage movie! Garbage writing! I’ve found a movie worse than the Eternals, She Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Secret Invasion, and Love and Thunder combined!

I feel like The Marvels should have just been Miss Marvel season 2. I feel like as you watch it, you can easily see where episode 1 would end, and episode 2 would begin because there's about 6 main "sequences." Just pad it out a bit, give everyone the space they need to breathe, and you have a solid, if uneven Disney+ series.

The Marvels was supposed to drop before secret invasions but they kept on pushing it back really but yeah you definitely see the inconsistencies in tone of certain characters that don't make any sense. But there's also a lack of continuity. This film really should've came out like 2 years earlier and should've introduced both Kamala and Monica earlier as well around the same time even if it was a post credit scene. It's been 4 years since Endgame and the first movie and that's way too long of a gap without a significant appearance. To me this movie shouldn't have been a flop, they could've done a whole lot better in my honest opinion. They went away from the formula and now they're paying the price. We should've gotten a new Spider movie as well, no appearance in sight.

That is the difference, they completely lost their "red string"-characters after Endgame. Even if it was just cameos, RDJ, Evans and Hemsworth were in most content after their first introduction. They were the core of the franchise. Who exactly is the core since Phase 4? Every new movie/series seems to introduce a bunch of new characters that hold together like loose sand and we didn't even get an Avengers movie for it. And that's just the coherence point, i will let all the agenda stuff out of here.

They build up spider-man to be a leader of the next avengers team. Having Tony as his mentor and someone he looks up to. Tony looked at Peter as a young version of him like a son he never had. Have captain marvel, spider-man, war machine, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Dr Strange, Ant-Man & Wasp, shuri, and Winter Soldier be the core Avengers team taking care of the major threats. Then have a young Avengers TV show on the ground holding it down taking care of big threats on their own. Avengers or other characters regularly showed up in the other solo films during the infinity saga even if it was a post or end credit scene. They had a structure.

For November I am only interested in The Hunger Games prequel, Napoleon and the Thanksgiving horror film. Gaming Entertainment will make more money right now in films and streaming than Marvel because right now they have new compelling stories for movie lovers. After that famous Anime properties will also bring great new content to films and streaming while also making a lot of money for different studios. Marvel has to be more creative in their stories because every superhero film cannot always be about saving the world. Marvel has to give depth to their characters, add more original compelling stories and show why they are still relevant today with the current day issues that exist. Movie fans are flocking to new franchises which are not predictable and give many surprises.

Scarlet Witch and Nick Fury exemplify a huge flaw with MCU’s Disney+ approach. They expect viewers to keep up with both the shows and the streaming shows to keep up to date but the show runners themselves don’t even do that resulting in characters acting completely different across various projects. I have to tell you - while I haven't seen this film a good number your criticisms of it apply to Loki. He is trapped in a Doctor Who movie and he is playing 'Dr. Who'. Has nothing to do with his life or character. At one point he gains power to go wherever he wants in space and time - cuz... (bullshix is why) but he doesn't save Asgard or Odin or Thor....has has *forgotten* about all of them! He saves...ALL THE ACTORS IN THE LOKI SHOW. rotfl. Of course...we know why he only cares about the characters in this show - who have nothing to do with his life or existence in Asgard. Because these are the characters the writer has to work with! But within the context of the narrative... It just makes no fking sense..

Dar Benn is a real comic book character but gender swapped - the actress Zawe Ashton who played the villain (Married IRL to Tom Hiddleston) is not to blame, it is an AI or half-baked script and film that was butchered in editing and by committee -
