Another reason why the Monsterverse is successful, is because it gives the fans what they want. After 2014 fans wanted more monsters so KOTM brought in many more, though all lacked proper screen time. So that’s what they gave in GvK, more monster screen time, and it worked for them. Now having two films in a row with having a classic Godzilla Toho villain enter the Monsterverse, fans have been wanting to see a new threat Legendary can make on there own, one they’ve never seen before, which is exactly what they’re giving us this year, in The New Empire.

Modern MCU is a laughing stock, there's no stakes, too much coming out at once, every character has to be a comic relief, core characters like Thor are a joke now, CGI is getting worse, too much focus on prioritizing DEI efforts that nobody actually cares about. KOTM was rlly liked in Japan, on a Japanese movie rating website, “Eiga” it was rated 3.8 right next to Shin Godzilla which is insane as that movie basically won the Japanese equivalent of an Oscar. Takashi Yamazaki, the director of Minus One also likes the Monsterverse and they were influential to his movie as Minus One referenced Godzilla 2014, he finds it as a interesting take on the IP and even said he had fun with Godzilla x Kong and even called the movie gorgeous. So yea it’s safe to say the Monsterverse is what helped Godzilla become popular than ever and without it we wouldn’t have Shin or Minus One, plus it pays tribute to all eras of Godzilla with it currently tributing the Showa era.

The Monsterverse does three very important things to remain in good graces with its fans. 1) It doesn't oversaturate the box office with 20 media projects in a year like Marvel does. 2) It stays consistent with its presentation. It doesn't jump from genre to genre and it most definitely doesn't phase out characters for younger models. 3) It keeps up to date with the culture its most loyal fans have built. A good example of this is Doug. In Godzilla v Kong, there's a short, stubby lizard kaiju in the hollow Earth segment that shows up for a whopping 4 seconds. Fans latched onto the fact that it looks like a Godzilla and bulldog hybrid and named it Doug. The filmmakers went on record when writing Godzilla x Kong that, since they already had the model, they would include more Doug content. True to their word, Doug makes another appearance for a massive 8 seconds in GxK.

Between listening to fan feedback between movies and having just enough fan service to older godzilla lore, the movies always have connected and resonated well with the audiences since kong skull island. One thing that I think seriously helps the MonsterVerse is the characters. Not the humans, the monsters. The Titans have so much personality. The films wouldn't be half as entertaining otherwise. Just pay attention to Ghidorah's heads. They all have different personalities, and even name (Ichi, Ni, and San). Or when Mothra sacrifices herself for Godzilla. Hell, just watch any interaction between Kong and Godzilla. There's so much personality packed into these creatures that can't even speak. The Titans are the main characters of the MonsterVerse. They're who we go to the theater to see. We're invested in their stories, and the writers put in the hard work to accomplish this. The DCEU is dead, the MCU is in a turbulent era, and we'll see what happens with the upcoming DCU. But for right now, The MonsterVerse remains king.

The narrative focus was really the key element in why the Monsterverse succeeded where the DCEU failed, especially since the narrative focus was why the MCU dominated cinemas for the better part of 15 years. Origin films might be formulaic, but it's important to have them so that when the crossover films happen we don't have to waste time establishing character motivations, their personalities, etc., etc. When GvK happened, we already knew who both the Monsterverse' versions of Godzilla and Kong were, so all it really needed to do was give a justifiable reason for them being in conflict with one another (and eventual team up) that was inline with their characterizations, while also developing them as characters, and that's exactly what we got. BvS and JL both had to spend so much time establishing who their versions of Batman, WW, Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman were that it came at the cost of: 1. Giving Batman and Superman a justifiable reason for fighting one another, and an even *worse* reason for them to team up. 2. Giving the audience a chance to actually care about Cyborg, Flash, and Aquaman. It's kind of a miracle that of those three, Aquaman got at least one movie (his "first" one, not Lost Kingdom) that was actually a lot of fun, even if it was dumb fun. It will never cease to frustrate me how easily WB could have been at the helm of two powerhouse cinematic universes, and the only thing they had to do was make a few origin films before the crossover films. And hell, for Batman, they wouldn't even have to cover his parents' death again, they could have done the exact same thing that Matt Reeves did where Bruce's origin film could have been set a year or two into his tenure as Batman. But thankfully, at least the Monsterverse has panned out successfully. Here's hoping that Gunn can turn DC around to give the MCU some much needed additional competition.

The monsterverse had a better foundation than the DCEU did and just did justice to Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, Ghidorah, Rodan, Mechagodzilla, and even its original monsters. Zack's vision didn't work for DC's heroes. It also didn't help that the DCEU rushed with its cinematic universe. At least the Monsterverse took its time and even did a better job of having its hero characters fight and team up in Godzilla vs. Kong. The monsterverse definitely works, and my favorite movie of the monsterverse so far is Godzilla vs.Kong. I honestly can't wait for Godzilla x Kong the new empire.

Another streng thay many people forget is that, contrairy from believe, each film has many of their director's visions (not entirely tho because big studio shenynighan) : - Godzilla 2014 has many of Gareth Edward "style" seing on Rogue One : Not verry emotion focus characthers, focus on massivness of powerfull entity/objects and another focus on sound design - King of the Monsters has the same visual flare and "reverence for the mythological" has "Krampus" and "Trick'R Treat" the two others movie of Michael Dougerty -Kong : Skull also has manu camera trop and visual language and an emphesis on fun has Jordan V Robert other movie : Kings of summers - And even tho Gvk is not as serious has Adam Wingard others movies, he say in many interviews that this was his idead to have a more absurd and flashy vibe for GvK and i'm pretty sure his honest when he say that. That help that those four director are massive Godzilla fans ! And that the mains producer, Thomas Tull is a fan of Kaijus in general

@TheNinjaDC9 ай бұрын
Here are my 3 reasons: 1, they did genuinely listen to fan feedback, and slowly tuned the films to better match classic Godzilla films. 2, each film is rather stand alone. It's part of one universe, but they all have clear ending, and you can skip one or two and not feel like you are missing something. Aka, it's easy to jump on. 3: they didn't over saturate the franchise. There has been like 5 films in a decade, and not many spinoff properties. So there isn't a burnout.

I just finished watching Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved Kurt and Wyatt's performance as Lee. Every scene where you see a monster feels wonderful and every episode ends with a note of intrigue thus forcing you to start that next episode to see what happens next. By the end of it, you are amped up for the next season. The show was leagues better than some of the shows Marvel has put out in the past couple of years. So yeah, I'm really happy the Monsterverse is doing well. Hope the new Godzilla film meets expectations considering it's also riding on the success of Minus One.

One reason is that DCEU failed is that they rush the big movies like Justice League and Batman vs Superman not building up to the next movies like The monsterverse and MCU did
@Tareltonlives9 ай бұрын
I can't help but compare this to Disney's MCU vs Star Wars Approaches- one with a building, a vision, and deep ties to the original material while still being innovative, and the other having each film be a complete reserve, shallow pandering instead of genuinely understanding the material, and ending in the total disaster that is Rise of Skywalker. Like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, The Force Awakens and the Last Jedi were more concerned with what they weren't than actually having their own identity and desperately trying to win back audiences through fanservice rather than have confidence. That's not the say that the Monsterverse or MCU don't lack fanservice- it's a key part of both- but They seem to hold their material in much greater respect and reverence despite having more of an action-adventure tone. Interesting how both companies show how some creative teams are in-sync with each other to create larger wholes, while others have no coherent idea what they want to be except avoiding fan barbs.

I'd say they've worked because they really respect the franchise and its charcters. They are trying to make somthing moderized and fun. Directors get creative freedom, VFX artists are allowed to show how talented they are etc. They took their time while the DCEU rushed everything, simply for big cash box offices. I mean, the franchise is a blockbuster franchise but at least every movie has something fun, willing to watch. Oh and also, the people behind the scenes love these movies to death! They are genuine fans as we are too.

Monsterverse I think is also succeeding because each film in it doesn't _require_ you to have seen other films in order to understand what's going on. You can miss 2014 and still get the narrative beats in KotM because of the flashback sequence at the start, for instance.

A thing with Godzilla films is that they dont actually need to connect to each other directly in order to present itself as a universe. The original Showa era, while all within its own universe, presents each film (except for 4) as their own independent film, the only movies that dont are the 1954 film and its direct sequal Godzilla Raids again, and Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla and its sequal Terror of Mechagodzilla. This sort of independent operation within the same universe does allow for actual story to be written, and also without introducing lore contradictions

In short, the Monsterverse didn’t have WB executives constantly interfering and changing everything in order to “catch up with Marvel” and shooting themselves in the foot every time they did

0:55 Godzilla vs. Kong also came out when many movie theatres were still closed, making its box office take more impressive. People in general and not just fans also complained about how difficult it was to see a lot of the monster fights in the first Godzilla (as this video shows), so in future Monsterverse instalments most of the battles have been a lot easier to see and often take place in daylight. 5:45 BvS reminds viewers about the buildings being empty twice, just to make sure everyone really remembers that no civilians are around, using the news broadcast *and* having Batman mention the area was abandoned.

I'll give you that first one. At least Godzilla made a decision rather than the "let's be different" approach for Man of Steel. I didn't like either movie overall. Godzilla is the better one, but I wouldn't actually rewatch either of them. Though maybe I'd rewatch the first Godzilla movie...by skipping to the last 20 minutes. The Monsterverse tried to be itself. There were ups and downs along the way to doing so, but it felt solid. The DCEU was far too rushed. It wanted to catch up to Marvel and so rushed things like BvS and then rushed to the Justice League, and it was just far too chaotic. And thankfully the Monsterverse adapted better. People didn't like the lack of monsters, they got way more of them going forward. Whether it was KotM, or all the movies with Kong in them, there was far more monster presence mixed into things. They found what worked and stuck with it. DCEU never found what worked and needed a reset. I do think the DCU can work and hopefully will work. But Godzilla's side got it right much faster.

The reason is because the Monsterverse stuck to a concept and didn't try to course correct. A lot of people didn't like the first entries of the Monsterverse and DCEU, but as both series progressed they got better with each entry and eventually gave people what they wanted. If they stuck to Snyder's vision and didn't botch Justice League, then we'd probably still have the DCEU. The Monsterverse has little studio interference and that's mainly why it's successful. There's no internal drama and it gives people what they want plus has the benefit of genuine diversity in directors.
