Yeah, they're showing how to make good defenders look like trash. LaVine even does a quick sell on a few of these clips by turning towards the ball or moving back a bit before lowering his shoulders and exploding to the rim.

Its not everyone falls but even if you know its coming its still hard to defend it like kobe for instance you know he will take the shot and theres nothing you can do about it

Mavs ran that play with JJ Berea and Devin Harris at least once a game. Also they would have JJ and Brunson run it too but it wasn't as effective as with Devin. Idk if they have ran it this year since no Devin and JJ isn't really playing

I love Orlando Magic's version. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 A Center like Nikola Vucevic that can make 3-pointers, he only needs to be able to make 34% for 3-pointers because he is a Center. If you don't have a RELIABLE 3-point shooting BIG (Center or PF) let your 2-Guard (best 3-point SHOOTER) set the 1st Pindown Screen. The best way to get WIDE OPEN for a 3-pointer via Catch and Shoot = set an OFF-THE-BALL Screen for a teammate 1st = Kyle Korver philosophy.

The Satoranksy-Lavine backdoor cut action is a very common read - I think it's one of the rules in Read and React offense and in D'Antoni's SSOL Suns offense - Dribble-At and Backdoor cut. Beautiful action, great video.

With the ways team utilize great shooters like Kyle Korver, this move will be unstoppable and will open a lot of options due to switches. Most of the time Korver is only given a standard backdoor screen to curl on elbow 3pt area. Imagine if he's the focal point of this play.

Some ELITE 3-point SHOOTERS have specific areas on the court that they like to make 3-pointers = CORNER SHOOTER'S off Hammer Screens. Double-staggered Screen puts them in the SLOT AREA, a place they don't feel comfortable at for CATCH AND SHOOT.🤭🤭🤭 Search Free Agency and find yourself a SHOOTER that loves Double Pindown Screen for CATCH AND SHOOT, not as a decoy

No wonder they like this play. Hubie Brown (the ONLY COACH to ever win NBA Coach of the Year with 2 different Franchises) once said that the 3 best plays in Basketball were the High Pick and Roll, the Dribble Hand-off and the Staggered Screen... and I contend he would have included the Drag Screen if someone had thought of it before he said this. Here about 40 years we live in a world where all of those plays are so popular they are known by ABBREVIATIONS. HPR, DHO, DS and SS. Variations of those plays are also know a Iverson Screens, Baseline Runner, Floppy, Grinnell Breakand more. The NBA is almost exclusively running the Offense Hubie Brown Envisioned. Not that they don't run OTHER plays. But as appreciated as he was in his time... if you like Basketball Today... you owe MOST of that to the Mind of Hubie Brown. He was also a HUGE proponent of the Hook Shot which seemed to disappear from the game in the late 80's and most of the 90's. It seems the European players are most responsible for bringing it BACK into the NBA and it is also spreading through Basketball again.

Uh why not wait to counter top lock and the center saggin. Wait three seconds so he can recover to his man then cut. Ball handler needs to dribble to the three point line so he can have a better angle on pass. If he presses the ball then drive... you have space on the wing and paint

@jekkt4 жыл бұрын
nope. you can "delay" your dribble and take as many steps as you want, as long as your hand is not under the ball. refs rarely call this even if they do carry. i am actually amazed that this technique isn't used / abused more heavily.
