@@yp2gr_9Wz89Qz3 If I remember correctly there was either a memory leak or a bug related to destruction heavily lagging the game. But the NPC AI cycles were a large majority of the lag. There were usually like 300 something npcs in the world at a time all with different pathing and day/night schedules running at the same time

the destruction was due to people destroying structures, and the individual debris turned invisible, but still exists and takes up space iirc@@AlcyoneSivin7

In comparison to AO World of Magic didn't have that much detail on the textures which is one of the main contributors to the extreme lag in AO

i think a lot of the performance problems come from the roblox engine itself, its not like it cant handle big multiplayer games but theres a lot of optimization roblox could do on their end i personally think. Still Vetex could improve optimization a lot still What we really need to be afraid of is the performance Jotunheim is gonna have when we get to Keraxe..

Even roblox is fine, byfron just destroys performance, before byfron people had no issue getting 60 fps, post byfron... 60 fps is hard to get unless you have a modern CPU from 2019 or newer Wish the anti cheat would just run on all threads except the ones used by the game

Same, I play on a 600$ laptop and it runs fine like 90% of the time, give or take Roblox’s own jank playing a part. Only time I really get really bad lag is like The story mission to take down the sailboat cause all the Ravenna soldiers like to jump off the several caravels and sailboat and start making like a billion different collisions all at once And when I forget to clear notoriety at 5 stars and an army of navy members are after me doing basically the same thing

The only issue with me in AO is the FPS, so I mostly play at 5-25 fps in AO, in Ravenna for example I mostly get 10 Mount Othrys on the other hand is around more than that So I wonder how Sameria is gonna do *But all that is gonna be ignored because this gives me WoM nostalgia*

Idk if this happens to anyone else, but when I spawn in, I’ll have around 50-60 fps. But after a battle or going to different islands, that’s when the lag starts. And then the longer I’m in game, the more laggy it becomes until I’m forced to rejoin. I can probably only total around 1-2 hrs before the lag becomes unbearable.

It will be a separate server than the bronze sea reducing lag and fps loss. They did this with arcane adventures 7 seas splitting them.

Yea but the problem is, Ravenna is the island everyone lags at the most, and the new island is like 3x bigger than even Ravenna, so that many parts in a concentrated amount is... scary.

@@arceyplayz tbh Vetex has to fix the performance issue on his own. I have no idea how that shit works so I’ll let the pros handle it. However most of the issues come from Roblox itself so it might be difficult for Vetex to fix the issue.

I know your worried about the lag and frame drop stuff, but there is optimization options that vetex has and will use them if the game gets more laggy, also remember how vetex works, after the small patch works he stops and works on the update and so on and with early access he is focused on updates for the game. (The future will have a bug/Patch/QoL update) also, ROBLOX IS ALWAYS doing something in the background with out anyone knowing, they are working on increased FPS too recently. also i can say, roblox engine is being upgraded on the go so u got no choice for game breaking bugs in all games on roblox if they used a feature that is getting an upgrade. let's hope something good happens on the roblox side to optimize their engine more.

theres 2 main things that could be our issues and that hes unable to optimize those being 1- people using hdd insted of ssd and 2-people with good gpu but mid or bad cpu so the game cant handle the AI that the game uses, thats why some people with "trash" pcs get more fps, they got better cpu but their gpu is trash so other games outside roblox dont work aswell but AO runs fine, either way i think hes only going focus on it when the games gets the release update

It's just the buildings that need to be optimized. Mount Othrys is huge, but the fps is good there. Most likely because there isn't much destructible structures.

I mean World of Magics map is huge and its parts dont unload when you are far, but i get more fps in WoM than in AO. So perhaps the lag is mostly about other stuff and not map size? Also if there will be such a big island in Nimbus sea then there should be less amount of islands or less area for the ocean (sharks, ships and random spawning structres), which should counteract the lag of Sameria right?

opening your backpack 3 times will get you to 15 fps if you have a stacked account i wish thered be an eaiser way to get rid of the same items that arent different level

The lag in ao is craazy Sometimes I am trying to join and 10 times in a row there is a black screen which doesn't want to disappear The only thing that shows in f9 is that some sounds didn't load as if they carried the entire game xD Servers below 200 ping are stupidly rare I mean- I think 200-300 ping is still playable and I don't understand a certain toxic pvp sweat who said he lost a fight because his ping was 100, lol Man... and how could all this lag be fixed...

I hardly get much lag and I am playing on a 600 dollar laptop at 10 graphics with like 3 tabs open in edge so I dunno why other people get so much lag My biggest issue by far has been Roblox engine jank getting me stuck inside of boats. The biggest reason I hate the dark sea lol. Stupid sniper lightning hits me on a friend’s boat and I somehow phase through the bat and get water poisoning : )

If my potato notebook can run mount othrys and load a bunch of dark sea islands, plus did work pretty well with the WoM map (beyond the universal lag caused by active AI ofc), i believe vetex can optimize this well

As far as i know, most of the lag in this game comes from npc ship ai, seamonsters and trade/inventory loading (all of which are client side). With ships and seamonster ai it just needs to be moved to the server, running that shit on client is not ok. For trade inventories, it’s not viewports (vetex has said it doesn’t load visuals for inventory when they aren’t on screen), it’s just the sheer number of items. Every item loads individually, each has it’s own obtained player, enchant value, modifier value, and level that needs to be stored. They don’t get unloaded when you close the inventory (or trade menu) either. So you just clog up your memory usage with the values of every single one of your items.

Client side means it is running on your game, only you can see it. Server sided makes things render on every client.

@@gamerx123kog yes, literally all of these things are stored in client side memory and pulled from there to make subsequent load times faster, and reduce the load on the server.
