hey nice video! but one thing - I heard the little moving anker has the function of showing that the whole mechanics inside are properly lubed! if It stops moving, you should definitely visit your watchmaker! ;)

That is incorrect. True with original Captain Cook, but not true with the re-issue released recently. Contact Rado and they will be happy to inform you.

Last week, the Rado rep for eastern Canada confirmed me that the anchor logo sit on a drop of lubricant. So when the lubricant is dry, you know that the watch is due for service. I found this to be very cool!

Great video!!! This watch is intriguing, on the top of my next buy list!!!! Looks much different than any other divers and the 80 power reserve is a plus.
@DesignAtelier4 жыл бұрын
That 80-hour power reserve was a plus. But that ceramic in person is just beautiful. It's deep color and luster is just amazing. I can dare say it's better than my submariner’s cerachrom bezel

Design Atelier how does the dial compare to sub $4,000 dive watches.... I have a Longines Hydroconquest (new ceramic version) in black... was thinking about the Tudor Black Bay in blue or the Rado Captain Cook in Blue... I know Tudor is great but I’m having a hard time with it not having a ceramic bezel and it doesn’t look much different from most divers... the Rado however just has a different look, I haven’t seen it in person but how the bezel slopes inward and the domed sapphire crystal gives it a different aesthetic...
@DesignAtelier4 жыл бұрын
I would take this over a they hydroconquest. their ceramic bezel is a step down to the cook. the cook as better proportions on their markers on the dial as well, the hydro conquest seems oversized. if you have around 3 grand, the all ceramic black hydro conquest is of consideration over the regular hydroconquests. As for Tudor, I would take the cook over as well. the pelagos is a better proposition with it being titanium and all. but its at the 4000 dollar bracket though.
@MrCoachab4 жыл бұрын
Design Atelier that’s good to know that you consider this over those as I already have the all black HydroConquest in ceramic and I’m very pleased with it, so if you believe the Rado is better then I shouldn’t be disappointed. I like getting the best bang for my buck and feel that the $1,000-$3,000 price point gives you that. I’ve had $4,000 plus watches before and at times you get buyers remorse “sort of did I waste my money” feeling.... there are also a lot of good watches under $1,000 as well but then when it comes time to service it you wonder if it’s even worth doing so as the service costs may be close to or more than the purchase price?
@DesignAtelier4 жыл бұрын
Servicing the powermatic 80 movement should be easy enough since it's just an ETA. the pelagos as great as it may be is an inhouse movement. That surely will cost you more to service.

Making diver watches are such a challenge. So many good alternatives
@DesignAtelier4 жыл бұрын
It is. Just looking at the many micro brands out there with dive watch offerings, you can see that they would either come off as weird or homages of existing designs. It's tough.

Tq. And now they have Capt cook in ceramic case. As suggestion, maybe you can look at Orient watches, as their design can be rather unique.

painted indices are one of the defining features of vintage divers. Applied indices would take away from how striking the dial is and completely ruin the vintage aesthetics. A better way to achieve three dimensionality, if that's even desirable, without compromising on design would be what Omega are doing, i.e. having a recessed layer for the markers.

I bought a Chinese aftermarket royal oak bracelet in AliExpress. I had to shave off 1mm to make it fit. Then used an old spring bar to keep it in place. I loved your review seems like you have put a lot of work into it but I got to disagree on one thing, the watch actually wears really small for its size!! I have small wrists and hence love small watches. Anything over 41 mm is a no no for me. I tried this on and was amazed how well proportioned it was it felt like a 40 mm watch. Some 39 mm watches wear bigger than this. I even tried the 37 mm version but that one wore even smaller so I got myself the 42mm navy blue version.
@DesignAtelier4 жыл бұрын
i think its because of the smaller area that the crystal occupies and that really wide bezel that creates the impression of being small. another factor is that i myself have a small wrist so to me its seemed just right but for the average wrist, it may seem smaller for its diameter. thanks for the observation nonetheless. your input adds a dimension to my video that otherwise would have been lost. thank you.
@أحمدالشمس-ق9ج4 жыл бұрын
@@DesignAtelier I do agree with you that the smaller dial and the bezel gives off an illusion that it is smaller than it really is. Just so everyone could have some perspective My wrist circumference is 6.25 inches or 16 cm around. Keep up the great content👍🏽

ah ok. i have a 16.5mm so we're almost the same wrist. its really the perception then.
