Why The Next Nintendo Console is GOOD News For Pokemon!

With the official announcement of the succesor to the Nintendo Switch, or the "Nintendo Switch 2", I cant help but consider what that could mean for Pokemon...let's talk about it!

We thought the same thing with the OG Switch. It's not (mainly) the hardware. GF just never grew out of their mindset they had during the Gameboy days. I mean look how the world was build in Scarlet and Violet. Here a stone, there a tree. It's like back in the day. Same with the graphics. The bare minimum seems to be their mantra in every aspect.

why we did not get a mainline pokemon on console? because its POCKET Monsters. Its meant to be on handhelds, its supposed to be always with you in your pocket, to trade and battle whereever you are. thats like the franchises main point

Pokeballs were pocket size, hence the name. Version exclusives on portable systems were just to encourage players to interact with people and handhelds were cheaper than home consoles back in the day.

Game Freak has never had even competent programming in any of their games. Even the original 1st Gen. games were full of bugs and glitches. Unless they change their development strategy the new games will have the same problems regardless of the power of the console.

@@prinzessinemily the pokemon franchise is co owned between nintendo, gamefreak and TPC. Nintendo owns the rights to publish video games of the franchise (so it needs nintendo's permission to release a game on any platform). TPC owns the rights for doing whatever they want with the anime, TCG and merchandising of the franchise. And lastly, gamefreak owns the rights to develop the games and willingly choose to make them as shit ans anti consumer as possible.

the Pokemon company has nothing to do with the relrase shedules of the games. the Pokemon company is a marketing tool, to coordinate worldwide marketing of the franchise. Gamefreak OWNS the Pokemon company, not the other way around. the pokemon company can not put pressure on Gamefreak, cause Gamefreak are the bosses of the Pokemon company. Can you pressure your boss at work? I don't think so. Gamefreak makes their releasedesicions on their own. Also the switches power is not the problem holding pokemon back (somehow no other franchise has this struggles, strange, right?) It's gamefreaks incompetence. If you look at japanese job rating websites, you see its a known issu, that the higherups at gamfreak refuse to enhance their skills. you can't develop a modern switch game, if your development knowlegde still is in the gameboyages, thats the main Problem, besides development time.

Remember that Nintendo likes to sell custom Pokémon themed consoles (one reason they release later). Z-A won’t be a launch title, but Gen 10 is definitely getting a custom console. Both for it and the 30th Anniversary of Pokémon.

Being a launch title won't speak to the quality. I'm focused on the release date. An autumn 2025 release means another rushed job. Gen 6 to Gen 9 needed that extra time. Switch released in March. So March 2026 would get me excited.

They also have strange priorities to be fair. Ever since the ps3 days they advertised consoles almost exclusively with how powerful they are, so now they build up a community that expirences trauma whenever a character doest have individually animated, ultra realistic hair. This now results in unreasonable development times, everything that entered development like last year won't be ready until the ps 6 drops and millions of people have to buy theses games to just break even. I unironically wonder if this is future proof or if we going to see them abandoning consoles in the future.

I believe that the SH/SH games were released on the Switch with almost the same type of graphical quality as the Sun & Moon ones for the 3DS were made with possibly because the mainline gen 8 titles were very likely originally planned to be made as new games for that portable system, but then because of the soon release of the Switch making new games for the 3DS wasn't going to be a thing that would be happening anymore.

Not exactly the developers across the series have never been great at optizing their games DS and GBA they finally were getting there. 3ds they were ready for. Sun and moon had every map square had every NPC programmed to its code for some reason. Switch was a massive quality jump they weren't ready for on a programming level. The games across the switch work well otherwise. The main issue is that they are used to programming on a tictac and don't know how to properly adjust. Increasing the Hardware won't help in that department.

What is the point of this video . Pokemon legends za is not the launch title for switch 2 . Legends is not good seller compared to main series games. They will keep other game series for it not Pokemon . We don't know when switch 2 is coming out . This is just cope

As long as the games run smoothly and aren't constantly struggling, I don't really care how good the graphics look. Pokemon was never about cutting edge aesthetics. What they need to do is settle on a simple yet pleasing generalized artstyle for the games. As bad as SwSh's graphics were made out to be, it at least had a consistent cell shaded artstyle for the characters. I think Game Freak took that criticism the wrong way and pushed for more realistic looking graphics for SV.

What GF and TPCi need to do is stop with the three year release and let other companies develop with there ip like how Genius Sonority was developing for the gamecube so some games can fill the wait time betw*een launches. Also build an engine that can reuse older pokemon models and animations like how Genius Sonority reused models and animations from pokemon stadium to colosseum. This shoukd resolve the dexcut problem, and if not well there is always going back to pixels.
