she’s such a good speaker???? why did the audience have the presence of a white drywall, was it an empty room 😭
@DrMarvel562 Жыл бұрын
I'm not even sure if there's a physical audience there. There technically should be because she asked for a raise of hands at the start. But o boy, you'd think Thanos snapped 2 mins into the video

Hi! Thank you for your compliment, there was indeed a small audience, I should have gotten them hyped up before I started lol 😆 that Thanos comment cracked me up

Love is not a feeling to pass away, Like the balmy breath of a summer day; It is not - it cannot be - laid aside; It is not a thing to forget or hide. It clings to the heart, ah, woe is me! As the ivy clings to the old oak tree. Love is not a passion of earthly mould, As a thirst for honour, or fame, or gold: For when all these wishes have died away, The deep strong love of a brighter day, Though nourished in secret, consumes the more, As the slow rust eats to the iron’s core. ~ Charles Dickens *Book:* Lucy's Song in The Village Coquettes (1836)

Love is not a feeling or an emotion. Love is seeing and doing what is right. That is why when a parent disciplines a child it is out of love. It doesn't feel good but is right and necessary. The world has set us up for failure by selling us lies about love and other things. Many relationships end because the feelings aren't the same and so they believe they have fallen out of love. But their commitment to each other and their children outweighs the loss of excitement. We are talking about important things you an.

I like the way how she interprets the art, especially the idea that "art is for everyone". To be honest, the primitive and conventional imagination of opera leads to the unwillingness of the audience to watch opera works, and this causes bad circular in adverse. The majority of people believe that opera is a luxury thing just for "dainty, noble, and academic" listeners. Moreover, opera is too old-fashioned compared to movies or TV series and people contend those recreations are sterile. However, those illusions are just some pre-occupied conceptions that stop people from trying to understand opera

I don't often get to see opera anymore bc the tickets are too expensive, but I did get to see Carmen in college bc Student Ticket pricing (god I miss it). I wish I could go more often tbh.

Met Opera does live streams to cinemas. We don't have an opera house anywhere near us but a lovely theater that does the stream right in town. It does its job :) I know it's not the same but it's a gateway. And they're showing Nabucco this weekend. We've already seen it a few years ago and the choir might have done one of the best renditions of Va Pensiero I've ever heard.

There are lots of theaters who sell rush tickets the day of the performance. I get into big theaters for around $25-30 per show this way, and it’s saved me thousands over the years. Hope to see you at the opera soon! 💕

I'm sure that if you look at the demographics of the people that go to the opera, you will see that it is nearly devoid of all lower incomes. The opera is NOT cheap.

Thank you so much for your comment. You’re absolutely right. Cost is a major roadblock to experiencing live arts events. There are accessibility programs and discounts, but it’s not enough. We have a lot of work to do

When I was a kid my parents made my brother and I go to the Opera which was a mistake . At the time there was no captions and each scene though elaborately and artfully done seemed to take an hour . My parents thought that I was just supposed to "soak up the atmosphere," but to my brother and I it was the most boring and pretentious experience imaginable . I think the introduction of captions does help a lot but I would still never set foot in an opera house of my own volition !
@etonea211 ай бұрын
I’m SO grateful that there’s a wave of people trying to make opera less pretentious-like Kerriann! Pretentious people want others to feel like they don’t belong and that they should feel ashamed for not blending in to the older traditions as an audience member. If you decide one day to try it again I hope you can have fun making your own traditions! 😉
@celestialcircledance11 ай бұрын
@@etonea2 to me the pretentiousness is just a side note but the main issue is that even with captions it demands more of me then listening to something in my native language and each scene seems to take forever to resolve itself. I am impressed I by the amazing vocal range of opera singers but I respect it more than enjoy listening to it . I'm glad there are people like you who give a damn about preserving culture but guess I'm lazy when it comes to my entertainment .
@etonea211 ай бұрын
@@celestialcircledance I know what you mean! Opera prioritizes the music over the momentum of the plot, so we end up hearing the same phrase 16 times in one scene before we move on 🤣 I hear you and your point is totally valid!
