Wonderful remark there Suzie, about organs: "I stole yours and you stole my .. heart". I'd suggest both of you keep it, as each is made of gold.

I've got a organ for so many years. A Yamaha electone FE 70. Bought it in 1984. And still love to listen to organ in churches. Fact: Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and The Doors had also organs in their band. Vangelis, Kitaro and Jean-Michel Jarre were famous for their synthesizer music.

The Electones are getting pretty scarce from what I've heard, but are still one of the most advanced electronic organs of their time. I like watching the exhibitions with the young Japanese kids that have mastered these instruments. It literally sounds like a full orchestra instead of an organ!!😍

I hope you are right. I was an organ builder and closed my business before I retired due to ever-decreasing work opportunities. This was due to the scrapping of Victorian instruments that became too expensive for dwindling congregations to rebuild or repair, the closing of churches, the increasing lack of competent organists, changing trends towards the use of 'worship bands'; and in one diocese riddled with members of a particular secretive organisation not exactly based on Christianity and of which I am not a member, they clearly operated a policy of keeping organ work 'within the brotherhood'. 😉 50 years ago, the large city in which I live had half-a dozen organ builders listed in the yellow pages. There have now been NONE for decades. If there is any hope for organ culture it is in the modern invention of digital electronic instruments and Hauptwerk systems. For most churches these are now frankly BETTER in almost every way, but I suppose that could be called progress!

also remember, using fork to eat was considered witchcraft and devilry till they finally accepted 2 prong fork.

Very cool reaction, and a great amount of info packed into one video. I actually have a Hauptwerk 4.2 program on my HP workstation and currently around 16 different sample sets to play with. I use 2 MIDI keyboards (a Casio WK-1800 and an older Roland EP-5) to play it, and playing through a good high end stereo with powered subwoofers, I can literally rattle the windows in the house with some of the 16' and 32' bass stops. The accuracy of sound reproduction of the original instruments is amazing! Rick Wakeman of YES, and Keith Emerson of ELP, both experimented with classic pipe organ sounds and actually included them in some of their tracks back in the 1970's.😉 Great stuff you 2.. thanks! Hope y'all have a great New Year!😄👍👍👍

According to Thomas Ospital, organist in St Eustache, Paris, playing an organ is like piloting an aircaft. (he does both himself) because of the constant role of the feet that you must coordonate with your hands.

Music history class would have been more fun with videos like this.
