Which is why a spinoff is a very prominent possibility in the future, the best way at the moment to guarantee we get some sort of spinoff show (which could focus on Hunter/The Golden Guard, Luz and the Hexsquad's human realm adventures, or just a ton of other things) is rewatching the show a ton on Disney plus. Oh wait, Dana left Disney. Nevermind. Unless Disney sells the rights to toh to some other production company and then that company creates a spinoff with Dana, there will be no more. Long story short? Disney sucks.

Even if they tried to back-pedal, it would take a lot of time, money, and work to produce a full season 3 from that point.

I am pretty sure Dana herself said it was because the first half of S1 didn't get enough views in a certain time frame, so Disney thought the show was a waste of money. But after the S1 finale, they realized their mistake but weren't able to backtrack. Dana made a tweet about it.

It’s NOT because of Lumity! It’s actually because Disney thought it wasn’t popular enough, so the cancelled it. But of course, the learned the hard way that it wasn’t. They are apparently regretting their decision now, but what happened is what happened and there’s no going back.

Dana has said herself that the LGBT wasn't the deal breaker (tho I definitely think it played a part), but instead, it being for a teen audience. If it came a year or two later, it would have found it's forever home on Disney +, but since + wasn't a thing yet, it got stuck on cable. The problem with that is anything falling under the teen category is doomed to fail as cable doesn't know how to handle it and often ends up silently slipping them into cartoon purgatory.

I wished that people understood that Owl House is NOT for little kids. It’s one of my favorite shows personally and it’s for teens/tweens but people have a problem with it because they misunderstand and think that it’s supposed to be for little kids. That's likely a part of this, but it's hard to deny the extreme coincidence that as soon as lumity started showing signs of being a thing it gets gutted. Aside from the gay part, the owl house has everything a Disney show is known for. Kinda awkward teen/preteen gets put into a whole new world where they learn and grow, make new friends that are weird yet stupidly powerful when times get tough, face off with big baddie and have a bittersweet ending. The only part that doesn't fit is lumity. It's really unfortunate, but what's done is done and I can't wait to see what Dana and Alex do in the future

Disney representatives said that the primary reason they were canceling The Owl House was because it completely missed its target demographic. They were aiming to create a darker kids show for those approximately between the ages of 8 to 15, but it turned out to be immensely more popular with those in their 20's. They canceled the show because of how badly it missed the marked demographic.

It's one of the few recent kids shows that feel like they could have been made in the early 2000's instead of after the child program neutering that seemed to happen around 2012 to 2017.

Some Disney things were really good but it's getting more boring to watch Disney channel on the TV... And that's again, b/c one 'certain' area of disney had it out for a different one that kept bringing disney success after success, so they kept trying to change the rules to end any show that person sponsored. End result, it always ends up like this. That sponsor brings them gold, other idiot tries to force it to end, it turns out to be the best thing disney had since buttered bread & the forced hurdles destroyed a profitable brand. Rinse repeat, it's very exhausting.

Turns out the reason why it was cancelled was because the ceo that gave it the green light retired and his replacement didn’t like that adults were watching a show meant for kids making the excuse that it wasn’t on brand with Disney. They fired the replacement and brought back the original for a bit longer until they found a new and better replacement but it was too late and the damage had already been done.

But I’ll give Disney one benefit of a chance to change my mind about it. If Ariel’s mum appears as black, since Athena (I’m not sure if this is true, because she’s heavily portrayed as white) was supposed to have very dark skin. Because then at least, it’s historically accurate (I don’t know if it’s true, but if it is, then I can side with Ariel being black)

Yeah, but that's on Netflix part not Disney. And tbh although I love that show, I don't think it actually was popular enough. Don't get me wrong, I'd fight netflix to make them make a third season (specially after S2 finale), but the show simply wasn't at the same level of TOH (although its fanbase was growing and growing recently)

See I didn't so much assume that it was because of the homosexual nature of it although that has been something that's historically got stuff canned. I assumed it's because there just seems to be this really huge disrespect growing for animation as an industry and as an art form and as a medium to tell stories. Lately it feels like every good animated show is getting canceled or just really short or is getting not as funded as we would like to see and it's very interesting to me because they're really shooting themselves in the foot because there's a huge fan base of people that are super into these animated shows that they're alienating and ticking off you know

Also, someone should ask Critical Role for help. They know how to organize a crowdfunding and could also help with the negotiations with Disney. We could hold more crowdfundings at intervals to save the series or also combine the series The Owl House, Amphibia and Gravity Falls into a crossover series as desired in the community to save everyone together. It wasn’t that Disney hates the LGBT community, it was purely capitalism. COVID had just begun and Disney wanted to cut production budgets when the economy tuned to crap. Owl House was new and didn’t fit cleanly into a category of intended audience, so they didn’t want to take the risk in case it flopped. Also, Disney wanted to cut shows with a continuing, serialized plot because episodic shows get more views on tv. It’s easier to tune into a random episode of Phineas and Ferb than obsessively following a series to ensure you don’t miss a crucial episode. Though I think this is idiotic because Owl House could’ve thrived as a Disney+ exclusive.

Disney admitted that the only reason that they cancelled the owl house in the first place was because it didn't fit their theme of Disney, this happens to quite some shows believe it or not. I wish Disney had a season four but I'm thankful that atleast we got that small epilogue at the end of episode three, season three.

As shaky as Disney are with LGBT rep, I think a more likely reason for its cancellation was simply that Disney wanted to move away from serialization for the Disney Channel (favouring more episodic "watch it at any point" toons like Big City Greens and Phineas and Ferb). Granted, the new Moon Girl cartoon writers plan on making that series more serialized down the line, but somehow I feel Disney would push back against it. Honestly, I feel the best thing to do would be to let Disney TVA make animation for Disney+. Streaming is a much more viable platform for that kind of format.

Don’t really know what you mean, I was forced to read the Bible at age 8 of which I remember explicitly reading parts of a father having intercourse with his daughters, not to mention the sheer violence in the Bible.
