I've been using the Pixel 7 for a week now. It's an amazing phone for the price. It's an overall smooth experience. My only real complaints are the fingerprint sensor being garbage with a screen protector on even with screen protector mode enabled. Then the face unlock only works in well lit conditions. Everything else has been a great experience. Actually considering getting the Pixel watch and Pixel buds a series to complete my Google ecosystem. And I've been mostly an iPhone guy the last 6-7 years. But the 7 series just feel premium and are better values for your money. Especially if you do as I did and get a really good trade in value.

I've just bought the 6a, my first Pixel, although I've hankered after one for ages. For me, apart from the nifty Stock Android, it's little things like (finally) having a fingerprint reader on the front (like my iPhone 6s) and like the 6s, with always on display, it can be opened, lying on its back (which doesn't wobble, unlike the new iPhones)

Great vid but you omitted an area where the apple and the pixel are similar...lack of personalisation. Ok, so the pixie has colour choices, wallpaper, etc etc but.....why MUST I have the 'at a glance', Google search bar, previous app select line and fixed icons at the bottom? I want to make my phone my own, that's why I can't have either of them. Shame, I loved the 6a but sent it back for these reasons. If Nova can create such a great platform to personalise a device why can't the manufacturers offer the same functionality. Thank you, Marc! You make an excellent point. I have the iPhone 13 Pro Mac for about a year now, and I love it. Normally, I get the next series, and sell the old one. But at the price Apple is offering the 14 Pro Max I have reached a point where I have to tell myself: STOP! I talked a good lady friend (she is 78 - bless her) to get the Pixel 6 to finally ditch her awful Huawei Somfing, and it is an awesome device for her needs (WhatsApp 😂 Telephone and a bit of surfing/email and photos. Back to the point you made: we want a device to connect with others, manage our day to day business and errands and take good looking photos to share with our bubble - for a reasonable price. And the Pixel 7 Pro delivers exactly that. I probably keep holding on to the Pro Max for the time being. The iPhone 14 series left me underwhelmed in a way. Definitely no urge whatsoever. Smartphones have become anyways somewhat of a normality, nothing special, a device you use without thinking too much about.

My last two phones were Sony, i.e. the Xperia 5 II and then the Xperia 5 III. I prefer a smallish phone and the size of the Xperia 5 was just right for me. Wanted to get the IV but, it took a step backwards as far as the radios for the North American market, U.S. to be specific. In search of a new phone that covered all the U.S. frequencies, I found the iPhone and Pixel were the primary options. I'm not in the Apple ecosystem and prefer Android so, I jumped on the Pixel 7 when I saw they had a $200 discount if you switched over to Google Fi. However, I have to say I'm pretty dissapointed in the Pixel 7. It's quite a bit bulkier and heavier than the Xperias since it's both thicker and wider. I much prefer the slimmer and narrower Xperia and the extra wide aspect ratio doesn't bother me, in fact, I prefer it. The other big step backward is the fingerprint reader. The Sony reader integrated into the power button on the side of the phone is the best implementation IMHO. It's very accurate and the most convenient to me in that position. Using the screen on the front of the Pixel 7 is annoying and terribly innacurate although, I was able to work around that to some degree by using my thumb for all four available fingerprint slots. I don't care much about the camera but, as an audiophile that uses high end bluetooth headphones, I'm very picky about the bluetooth codecs. Again, a big step back from the Sony as the Pixel does not support aptX Adaptive which is a real shame. What that means for headphones like the new Focal Bathys, for example, is that the best you can do is aptX since the Bathys doesn't support LDAC or aptX HD, that leaves the base aptX as the best common denominator with the Pixel 7.

I always base my phone of the year on what is the best, not bring value into it as the Pixel 7 Pro is poor value for 90% of the world, where the average selling price is $300. So as soon as you have a phone choice based on price, you are being very subjective. So based, on best candy bar phones, I would say that this year the iPhone 14 Pro Max remains number 1. Though the sub-category of best Android candy bar phone is also relatable, and the OPPO Find X5 Pro wins that for me, but by a small margin as there are many very good phones and personal preference will swing it many ways.

The reality is this is exactly their game, if they opened FaceTime and iMessage their trap would be reduced same with moving on to USBC and RCS standards. I’m one who believes Apple does innovate. We just hear about Apple’s innovations years before they hit the market. Is the pixel part of the Apple ecosystem? If not, I’ll pass 😂

That's partly Apple's doing, is the only way they control and manipulate their loyal customers as they've go little. Did you just comment in the Apple ecosystem 🤔, you see what I did there 😁

@@Spoonfed78 my main point is that I’m willing to pay more for my products because it is so damn convenient and easy between all devices. I know that’s Apple’s doing but I don’t mind. I used android for about 15 years and was always on Google phones because of the cleanest experience. Still, thought the pixel phone is nice, I prefer my iPhone 14 max. But hey, for an android phone, the pixel 7 is great!

I’m so bored 🥱 with Apple I want a phone 📱 that is really smart and helpful. Google is the only company working on that.
