Also has LOUD audio, even tho the speakers aren't in necessarily prime locations it really projects!You do need to get a case for this bad boy IMMEDIATLY though as it doesn't come with one.Battery life is really good! Standby time us FANTASTIC. This guy can go about a week on standby and be just fine. The screen is massive so the longer you have the screen on, brightness especially, it will effect battery life. I am very happy with it though!One thing that I didn't consider is that since the screen resolution is so high, viewing ticktocks/ reading webtoons can be slightly blurry. There is no way to turn down resolution either, so it just be like that.Would still judge this bad boi at 10/10 for my first tablet. I've had it 3 months now and its not shown any evidence of "slowing down" or anything. Love it!

I just couldn't get the S5e. I contemplated for a long time and got the S6 as soon it was available here. I've been using it for many months now and I'm very happy with it. I became even happier when Samsung announced 3 years of Android updates for its flagship devices which included the S6 too.

It's subjective as you say, but I use the S-Pen all the time, for easier navigation, text selection, and pointing at harder to reach areas of the screen. I agree that the magnetic stow on the back is useless, but I have a cover/case that has a hinged cover that keeps it safe.

I got the S6 Lite, mainly for drawing. The full S6 pen should work for tip-on-screen stuff even if it's out of charge, it only needs the charge for the remote motion sensor gestures. I felt I didn't need to do any 'magic wand' gestures, and if it makes the pen placement more awkward, that made up my mind.

You've got the makings of a good review, J, but unfoortunately this review/comparison has a few holes or inconsistencies in it, in my opinion. You make the point that cameras are of little use in tablets (except for the occasional receipt), but then spend a good part of the video on comparing cameras. You seem to have many minor gripes with all the tablets, and dismiss the S6 Lite out of hand. The most grievous thing I have an issue with is your ridiculous melodramatic fumbling of the S-pen, in order to make your point about its "uselessness". You don't like the implementation of the way it is stored, so do everything you can to make it fall off. Then you state that if it falls off, it won't charge, and will be of no use at all. You need to do a lot of homework before making such a video. The S-pen, for many people, is the defining factor in buying a tablet. It is up to you to do the necessary research, so that you can speak accurately speak about its pros and cons. Few KZbinrs have the knowledge to accurately encapsulate the S-pen's usefulness, so it continues to be derided time and time again. Firstly, for your information, the S-pen requires no charging, has no battery, and will faultlessly perform its functions for the duration of its life. It gets its power from the screen. The charging of the S-pen in the Tab S6 is solely for the use of gestures and remote control. Other functions like writing, drawing, navigation etc do not require a charged pen. Secondly, I wish you would learn about the S-pen's other capabilities. It can be an absolute time-saver in scrolling, previewing, selecting, capturing, interpreting, multi-tasking, etc. You need to know about AIR COMMAND, if you are going to review compare any device which is S-pen compatible. People who intend on purchasing need to be educated correctly by reviewers like yourself. They deserve to get accurate information, so it is imperative for you to do your due diligence in order to provide this.

I agree with this I compared s5e and 6 lite because I was interested in the pen, notes etc. The six lt had a bad screen and was thick and heavy. The 6 is 200 more. S5e and I have a great media slate that is light weight and with and 10, has pretty good performance.

I usually use the S Pen as a screen pointer and for text entry with my SWYPE Keyboard. It's incredibly accurate and swift in operation. Further, in doing markups with Office Suite, you're able to do screen markups and correcting your text entry instantly without even thinking. By the way, i'm getting the Tab S7+ on the 21st of the month. It's my gift to myself, replacing my aging Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 w/LTE support. It's been great, but it's time for me to replace it.

Great video. I was thinking about a similar S6 vs S5e vs A7. There is a new A7 (2020) 10.4 tab which has a similar chipset to S5e but cost significantly less. This device has only 3Gb of ram though. I was disappointed S5e was not on the 3 years software support list. Owned multiple Samsung tablets that never received more than 1 software updates. Thinking I might as well bite the bullet to get the S6, or even S7. Heard many good reviews of S7+ recently. Or, get the cheaper A7 10.4 @ Android 10 and give up hope for Samsung updates beyond 2020. As someone used to a PC with 3 27 inch displays, I definitely get not liking to use KZbin on a phone, or doing almost anything on a phone. I got the S5e (128GB/6GB) because it seemed like the logical upgrade from my dying Tab S2. Can't go back to LCDs on mobile devices, OLEDs are just too good, especially after using OLED devices for 7 years now.

The Tab A 10.1 (2019) goes on discount alot for like $150-$279 USD on 3rd party seller sites like eBay and for that price I really like the simple Tab A 10.1. But hands down nothing beats that AMOLED screen on the S5e in the sub $400~ category,once you use an AMOLED screen there's no going back to regular IPS LCD screens. If you haven't experienced an AMOLED screen yet,the Tab A 10.1 should suffice.

I got the s5e last year on 30th of December and to be fair, yes the processor is lower, but you just don't care if it's not a huge problem for you. I am using it for drawing especially and it works pretty good. Yes the wifi thing is tricky, but Samsung is fixing it trough updates... After a year is working the same and I have a Sim card in it and there's not a single difference.. So yeah

Fantastic video! I ordered my S5E and this gave me more confidence that I made the right choice, especially as the S6 Lite, A Series, and other tablets are having great deals! I ended up getting the 6gb , 128gb variant so hopefully will get a good boost in performance. In the same boat as you, used to flagship processors with high ram and you gave me peace of mind knowing it is still smooth and not much of an issue with the SD670. The iPad 8 also looked good but apart from the performance it's inferior in every other way such as design/USB-C. This IMO makes it the best bang for the buck tablet, apart from some Chinese tablets but it can be a tedious process researching them as there are so many U.S based ones out there already.

@sharingworldwide Nope, nothing even comes close to the iPad 8 in performance in that price range (including off-brands). The only factor to consider is RAM as you mentioned using tons of tabs. Some Android tablets have more RAM, but overall RAM management and performance in general the A12 chip is superior, so it is an easy choice, you can save the hours of research looking up tablet specs haha. I actually ended up returning my S5E, it was a solid tablet that I still recommend in that price bracket for many.

@sharingworldwide I understand where you are coming from. iPad8 for $300 is such a good deal it makes it difficult to consider a higher priced one. The updated design (1.3 extra inches of screen), weight (1lb exactly), thinness (6.1mm), USB-C port vs the lightning which is already being phased out of the Apple lineup minus the iPhone, laminated screen so your finger is close to the pixels vs unlaminated where there is a gap between the glass and pixel, stereo speakers, and extra 32gb of storage makes it a better choice if that stuff matters to you. Regarding the chip, it is using a 5nm processor, so it is the fastest chip watt by watt in the world. There is actually no other mass produced 5nm chip out right now as of October 2020. Even the highest-most expensive devices are using 7nm (lower the better in this case). It outperforms the iPad Pro due to a significantly higher single-core score. You will also get double the amount of RAM. So it makes it the best value for your money tablet bar none. The updated design will also not be changing anytime soon in the coming years, and the chip is already super overpowered so you won't have to worry about any new stuff coming that is better vs the iPad 8, which is the same design since it came out in 2010. My sister and mother's iPad is 6 and 8 years old, and still run today, so invest in the one that you plan on enjoy using for many years later as well. So it is actually the cheaper and better option for me.

That was my main consideration in keeping the S6 lite. Unlike Apple, Samsung doesn't support their devices for a long enough time. Without OS updates, they become useless bricks far too soon! :(

I had the same exact the dilemma ended up going with S5e got to trade in my shattered note 9 with the Samsung Shop app that was really good ( though I take issue is that they did not consider fact that 9 was a 512gb/8gb version)..... I stressed over the specs and the stylus, but for me boiled down to the fact that I could buy the S5e as an unlocked mobile capable device and I couldn't do that with the other two!! Wasn't even in the market for tablet but the deal for the turning in my shattered device was just too good to pass up. PS miss my note 9, Note 10 feels ike a downgrade .. also I think this dude has it wrong I don't like in screen fingerprint sensors.... physical sensors are so much more reliable and no guessing game of finger placement + can do it blindly

Well to begin the S Pen works for so many things like writing notes translating drawing and doing text translation when you select it you don't need battery to use it for writing I've used the note series sense note 7 so I do love the S Pen and did go for the tab S6 myself

I traded an S5e with 6GB of RAM for an S7+. I found the S5e even with the added memory to be slow and the wireless adapter to be just alright.. You need to have a strong signal to stay connected. I will say the display is beautiful. A wonderful media device.

Yes it can use expandable storage and it come with a small usb C to standard wired headphones adapter I have used all with no problems

I'm in the exact same situation. Yesterday I purchased the Samsung 2020 Tab A7 but it's going back. It's amazing for the price, but mine had a weird issue where the wallpaper would be all fuzzy and started to flicker. Anyways, I've been comparing specs on the s5e, s6 lite, s6 and s7. Personally, I think the sweet spot is the s5e. In the UK the 6gb version is £370. Exact same screen as the s6 (no HDR due to the processor though, but meh whatever), but it's the thinnest and lighest tab of them all. In fact, it got the best 10" tablet screen out of any tablet. Hopefully the 6gb will give me good enough performance. Not interested in the pen, or playing games, and I would prefer a fingerprint button over a in-display one. Can't believe Samsung gave the 11" S7 an LCD screen though!

i recently upgraded from an s6 (lol) to an s10e and am experiencing exactly what you describe in this video. The stretched out aspect ratio actually made videos smaller despite a much higher screen to body ratio.

We got the S6 Lite at Costco for $300 with a case (a thin one). I priced the s5e at least $50 more at Amazon (looking for tablets is a maze). In this case the S6 is a better value for the money. And certainly better than the Tab A.... I don't know why Samsung seems to be the only serious competition to iPad anymore.

Great review, I've been going back and forward between S6 and S5e, which one should I buy, and you've helped me decide, for my needs at the much lower price the S5e is the sensible choice, I would like the S pen, but I know I would hardly ever use it, I don't do a lot of multi tasking so the lower ram and Cpu of the S5e should be sufficient. Wasn't this video supposed to be comparing the Tab S5E and the Tab S6 Lite? You spent most of the time doing comparisons to the Tab S6. I have a Huawei Mediapad M5 Lite. It comes with its own version of the S pen and I have rarely used it since the first couple weeks I had the tablet. What I would have liked in this video is a comparison between the S5E and the S6 Light, two tablets that are near each other in price and have several pluses and minuses over each other.

The S5e is a total win for this one, It can handle gaming, Multitasking, Work stuff because of the keyboard attachment, a Desktop Experience, Media and moreover if you are an artist you can just buy a stylus or a Pen Tablet ( Mine is Huion Hs64 ) FYI: Theres a trick to bypass the No Cursor problem that Samsung devices have been facing when it comes to Pen Tablets Of course, This would still lose to the S6 and not to the S6 lite

4 speakers. Speakers sound incredible. Best I've ever heard on a tablet or computer. I love my S5e. Lighter and thinner than S6 and lightest and thinnest tablet in it's size. Get the S5e. I have the 6gb RAM version.

You put your finger on the pain! The biggest two issues with the s5e are: 1. Thinnes, it is bendable, which affects durability. 2. Still expensive even it is hard to find it as brand new, yesterday I found a brand new one and it is $505 with (a mandatory) extended 2 years warranty, that is so weird especially for the 4GB version!

It depends. If you must have an S pen and a slightly better Chipset then get the S6 Lite. If you prefer watching media on a Super AMOLED display, get the S5E. If money is no object, get the S6.

I have a genuine question for anyone...Why do you choose Android tablets over an ipad? In other words, what are the main factors which compel you to choose an Android tablet over an ipad?... I'm considering a switch back to Android and specifically Samsung, as I really like their UI and the Dex integration. im kinda late but hey. I personally prefer android (mostly Samsung) tablets because they are more inclusive, iOS is a whole ecosystem and having and android phone, I prefer android tablets. the price plays a lot too, for example in france the s6 lite cost 399€ on the Samsung website and I have the spen. the iPad cost 385€ and I have to add 99€ for the apple pen. as a student, I prefer the s6 lite wich is cheaper and makes perfectly the job !

Amoled screen for netflix and youtube and web browsing and that's all for android tablets. Never to LCD android. Crap. For everything else like gaming (gpu and cpu in ipads is just at least 2x android tablets) productivity, creativity, years of support, high resale value, ease of use, best social media apps and more = iPads.

If you got the Samsung S6 case, you can detach the part of the case that attaches to the back of the s6, and it secures the stylus pen. For me, the stylus pen is all important, and since I can't afford the s6, I went with the s6 lite.

Thank you for your great review! Al trying to decide between those same two tablets my self at this time. Samsung has the S5E with 128GB for $330 and the S6Lite 128GB for $387. I have no need for the stylus and only use a tablet when I travel for GPS, watch movies, e-mail, fid information. etc. I prefer the better resolution of the S5E. You said tablets lost their appeal in the early 2000s? The iPad didn't come out until 2010 and that was probably the first tablet. We have only had tablets for 10 years, but you are right that phones are at the point of being as big as the smallest tablet devices and they are a lot more powerful than the tablets in most cases.

I'm watching this on my Tab S5e. I love my tablet but for 1 major irritant...it has bad wifi connections. My husband and I have had nothing but Samsung phones and tablets for nearly 8 years and we loved them all, but the Tab S5e is troublesome in this one area. I can have my Samsung phone right next to my tablet and the phone has a perfectly strong wi-fi connection but the tablet...not so much. It will read full bars then suddenly drop to a single bar then in 30 seconds it goes back to full bars and suddenly no wi-fi at all. I end up refreshing the wi-fi but that doesn't always help. Anyone else with this same problem?

Yes. Same problem here. But only if I hold it landscape with the back camera to the left. Rotate it 180 degrees (back camera to right side) and your signal will be strong again.

I usually buy a cover for my tablets so the thinness of the S5E is not an issue and since I only need to use the tablet for media consumption, the lack of an S pen and a headphone jack are not essential. If someone must have an S pen and prefers a better CPU and Chipset then the S6 Lite maybe a better option.

You can literally buy the s6 directly from Samsung right now for $450/$500 for the 128gb/256gb respectively. There are even stackable discounts that can drive the price down even further.
