A bigger problem is schools don't give you materials that you can use to study. Like my maths books always relied on the teacher to explain some things and for most worked answers. I actually studied some maths with the Open University and their books are much better for self directed learning. Sometimes I buy books for their courses on ebay if I don't have time/money to enrol myself. I bought a maths degree worth of open university books on ebay/ You can get through their material quite quickly too in many cases.

In short it's one big memory test. The big test comes after school, and can you make something special for yourself, and others, which usually leads to some sort of income. I felt like betrayed when they stopped providing the instructions and spaces for studying, because I got used to studying and working away from home. I mean with instructions, that they just dumped list of stuff to be memorized, and then we basically just wasted our time in school, by not using it to memorize all of it. School is old system, and reasons why it is like that comes from the times that were long before.

Another reason schools tell students to study 10 hours a day and never ask questions is to create workers who will stand in a factory or sit at a desk for 10 hours a day and never ask questions. This system was created by American factory owners in the 1800s to create the types of workers they needed for their own businesses, regardless of whether students benefited.
